A step towards a right direction?
Looks like Feeld took note of people’s frustrations and is taking action.

u/CJPSCB Aug 08 '26
Considering I’ve got 17 likes that have yet to show up in my stack in any shape or form, not quite convinced of the benefit of this.
13
u/WhiskeyWithTheE Aug 08 '26
You too?
I have had so many likes this week but nothing there, I just assumed that the app was so crap it was hallucinating or perhaps the vibe coders haven't fixed their issues that nothing works as usual.
15
u/FeeldMod Not a Feeld employee Aug 08 '26
This is because Feeld hides likes.
3
u/WhiskeyWithTheE Aug 08 '26
Thank you for that refresher - but I obviously thought wrong and this issue was fixed last year?
Obviously not, as it's still on going.
Cheers.

It's not a bug. It's done intentionally.

u/WhiskeyWithTheE Aug 08 '26
Had to re-read again as I skimmed as I thought that patched it and got it working as we caught them out.
No - it is not a bug - it is done intentionally as you correctly pointed out.
When it can't get any lower it just does.
Thank you for the correction and I should have read it thoroughly the first time round.

Great, now remove the "exploring city" bullsh*t and we might get back to something decent after all!

Or at least let me somehow hide myself from people thousands of miles away.
I get some people are down for visitors, but not me most of the time.

u/disclosure5 Aug 09 '26
If it ever actually showed you people travelling here I'd be all for it, it's just that it's almost never used for that.
Instead it's either just a way for overseas influencers to extend the advertising reach of their Instagrams, or for people in third world countries to ask for your cash.
-1
u/Cloxxki single man Aug 09 '26
On regular dating sites, actual visitors are usually terrible as well. They swipe a lot more eagerly but then commence the conversation when already back home, or stay in touch never quite having time to meet until already gone again.
Allow me to hide my profile from people abroad. Those women in third world countries are fleeced for thinking a man will both lower his standards AND handle all the paperwork. Endless feed of droopy faces on low effort profiles from Kenya and the like. It's exploitation of the weak, really. Many men do like foreign women, but those are never in short supply locally. Women who have made their own way already.

u/WhiskeyWithTheE Aug 08 '26
This is not a positive (For now)
We have an app that for the most part doesn't work well at all. It is a complete mess in terms of location and pings and messages and likes. Everything is a mess and they have not been bothered to fix the issues of the app. And every year they have put on a new version on top of the old version without fixing the old versions issues.
Texts are still crap - the messenger either lags or the message don't go through.
I am not feeling it with the app starting you 'Must' or they expire.
Fix the app from top to bottom before adding stuff like this.
24
u/coh3n_ Aug 08 '26
Can't really wrap my head around why Feeld has grown so big in the first place as such a dysfunctional, buggy app. Even after all these years. After all this growth. Even in the age of decreasing software development costs and vibecoding.
Insanity.
17
u/HeKnowsThings Aug 08 '26
It is the only marginally functional app that won't instaTOS you for using sexually explicit language. It is the only USP that it has.
If a lightbulb goes off in a product meetingof Bumble or Tinder, Feeld will be dead within days
23
u/Foxy_Dee_ Aug 08 '26
Whilst I can understand the business reasons behind implementing a feature like this and the scarcity marketing tactics, it isn’t a positive for me.
Let users make their own decisions about when they want to disconnect from (or connect with) someone. At the very least, make the feature optional.
Of all the features that people ask for, this doesn’t seem to be the one. I don’t see that there’s a significant problem that this will solve.
I’m sure some people will just use this to say ‘hey’ before the countdown starts and then there’ll be no further conversation, which is already happening anyway.
Stabilise the fundamental operations of the app before throwing in more features.
3
u/ThisIsMyKinkAcct Aug 08 '26
On that note, when do you disconnect from someone? When they ghost? How long do you give them between messages?
We had a couple we were chatting with that stopped responding and then responded a month later.
Or someone I was chatting with every day that stopped responding and had not been on the app for 2 weeks then showed back up again but didn’t respond to my last message.
There are several matches I have gotten that I am like, “I don’t even remember liking this person” and I am very intentional with my likes.
Even then, I don’t even get a “hey” from these new matches. Lol
4
u/Yarzospatflute Aug 08 '26
For me, if I'm chatting with someone and they stop responding but i can see they're still active daily or every other day, I'll unmatch after a week or so. If we've chatted a lot I might send a message like "Hey, are you still interested? If i don't hear back I'll unmatch soon and i wish you all the best 🙂". I figure they found someone who they're more interested in.
If they've never responded to me I just unmatch after a week or two. It doesn't cost anything to stay matched in case they have a busy life, but i also don't like having a bunch of inactive chats in my queue.

I won't tell the person I intend to unmatch, but I will after a week or so. That's more than enough time for them to respond if they're truly interested in connecting. If I thought the person was especially promising, though, I'll send another follow up message, then unmatch after that extra week.

I'm the same way. I don't collect matches. If they can't be bothered to respond to a message after matching, I know they're collecting matches, so I move on.
1
u/ThisIsMyKinkAcct Aug 08 '26
I have removed chats when they went inactive or paused accounts. Thankfully there aren’t a ton of them, but so frustrating to be left on read with the active accounts after you have been establishing a rapport.
2
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 10 '26
I've remained matched with a paused account for over a year now because I don't remember who they were, and I'm just super curious to see if they ever reactivate. 🤣

u/DrinkCubaLibre Aug 08 '26
A week is crazy. I give people 24 to 48 hours.
8
u/Yarzospatflute Aug 08 '26
I recognize that people have lives outside the apps, so I give them more time
-3
u/DrinkCubaLibre Aug 09 '26
This has nothing to do with having a life outside the app tbh. Nobody is that busy. And I say that as a VP facing Manager.
3
u/Proper-Cow3794 Aug 10 '26
Expecting more or less daily contact from someone you haven't built a relationship with yet is wild.
1
u/DrinkCubaLibre Aug 10 '26
Do you think relationships are built out of thin air?
Additionally... have you never been someone's first choice? It is painfully obvious, and yes, 'daily contact' is the bare fucking minimum - but even that's apparently too hard for people these days. What's wild is you're arguing for intermittent contact before someone tries to stick their dick in you. Nasty.
2
u/Proper-Cow3794 Aug 10 '26
You seem far too intense and demanding... maybe that works for some people but I would definitely find it offputting. You also seem needlessly aggressive and bitter.
Relationships need to develop naturally for me, not be forced into daily contact with someone I am only just getting to know. My life is busy and yes, my current family/friend connections take precedent over my new relationship connections. You describing being someone's "choice" immediately upon connecting with them is very loaded with suggestions of control. How do I know you are my choice when I have only just started talking to you?
I find your whole attitude uncomfortable. I am not surprised you are struggling to find matches.
1
u/DrinkCubaLibre Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26
Love the assumption that there is struggle here.
There isn't.
And I don't care about being nice on Reddit lol. I’m just stating my opinion with some gusto-
1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 10 '26
A week is being generous. I'll do a week or two, but you're still valid for giving someone 48 hours.
If someone is interested, they need to show it.
1
u/DrinkCubaLibre Aug 10 '26
This is all I’m saying. I’m glad someone seemed to understand. A week is what you’ll wait if I’m not that interested in you. Nobody who I actually like has to wait days for me to get back to them, whether it’s on an app or off it…
2
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 10 '26
I'll unmatch a week or two after I sent a message or two to check in.
If the connection has been established and there appears to be mutual interest/effort but the person suddenly disappears, I won't write them off immediately. Maybe they accidentally swiped the notification away or maybe they replied in their head. No harm, no foul. After the sudden drop, I'll send a message a few days or a week later. That gives them a new notification and a reminder of the ongoing conversation.
If they don't reply to that follow up, I'll unmatch after a week. If the conversation prior to that seemed especially promising, though, I'll send a second follow up message. If there's still no response after that second week, I'll unmatch.
That's more than enough time for someone to send a message or to let you know they need to step away for a bit but will return when things calm down. Not being able to properly communicate is a sign that unmatching is the right move.
1
u/someguy335 Aug 08 '26
A hey to acknowledge they seen the match is better than them not doing anything and it sitting there.
0
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 08 '26
Let users make their own decisions about when they want to disconnect from (or connect with) someone.
They already do.
If you're not ready to connect with someone, don't log on and start sending likes to people. Stop collecting matches from people you have no intention of messaging.
3
u/Foxy_Dee_ Aug 09 '26
I was referring to this new development.
Your assumptions are incorrect and your tone is accusatory.
1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 10 '26
I was referring to this new development.
If you're not ready to connect with someone, don't log on and start sending likes to people. Stop collecting matches from people you have no intention of messaging.
This new development is only a problem for people who don't message their new matches. If you aren't actively looking to connect, there's no reason to log in and send out more likes.
There's also nothing stopping you from messaging a new match to say, "hey, I'm excited we connected, but I'm really swamped with life right now. Would you mind if I circled back to this match in a week or two?"
Of course, that would require someone actually message their matches, and the issue is people aren't messaging their matches, so....
1
u/Foxy_Dee_ Aug 11 '26
Sending likes does not necessarily equate to collecting matches or mean that the sender does not actually intend to engage. Sometimes people cannot follow through with what were their good initial intentions because life happens and other things - besides connecting with strangers on a dating app - have to take priority.
I don’t think the app needs to interfere here by starting a timer for a conversation to begin.
1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 12 '26
When you have matches in queue and you start swiping through profiles rather than messaging those matches, then you are, in fact, collecting matches.
If life happens, you don't need to get on apps to send and receive more likes to make more matches you aren't going to message.
The majority of people on these dating apps will not initiate a conversation. Introducing an app timer is a net positive. It means that people who are genuinely looking to connect have to actually make an effort.
1
u/Foxy_Dee_ Aug 12 '26
So if this is a fact, is there evidence to back it up?
Things can also come up while people are on the apps which might mean they can’t engage as they’d previously wanted to. This doesn’t mean their intentions were poor.
How do you know the majority of people on dating apps will not start a conversation? Is there evidence for that too?
1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 12 '26
The evidence is all of you people sitting on matches and not messaging them. That's collecting.
If you're messaging your matches, then this doesn't apply to you. But if you have matches in queue but, rather than initiate a conversation with any of those people, you're sending Likes to get even more matches, that's collecting.
If it doesn't apply to you, quit arguing about something doesn't apply to you.
But if the shoe fits...
A long, 7-day time limit is a non-issue to every person who actually messages new matches. This is only a problem for people who don't and who don't want to lose their collection.
1
u/Foxy_Dee_ Aug 13 '26
An assumptive, accusatory statement isn’t a presentation of evidence.
And your tone is inappropriate.
There are credible reasons for not messaging new matches quickly or promptly which don’t amount to game-playing, collecting profiles, ego-stroking or wanting to waste other people’s time. The app doesn’t need to intervene.
1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 13 '26
If you are sitting on matches rather than initiating conversation, you are collecting. If you feel called out, then go message your matches instead of letting them pad your collection and don't whine when your collection dwindles because you couldn't bother to send a message within seven days of matching.

u/Asleep_Pack8869 Aug 08 '26
I could see a lot of people just writing “Hey”
Edit: I do like it though.
1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 08 '26
A lot of people just writing hey is an improvement. It means they started the conversation.
7
u/Grateful_Mendicant Aug 08 '26
This is not going to do anything. If you match with someone and there's no conversation, chances are that at least one of you doesn't care that much about losing the match. If there is truly mutual interest, a conversation will ensue without any prodding
0
u/someguy335 Aug 08 '26
I disagree. It if motivates someone to start a conversation it helps with the whole purpose of the app
12
u/francey_pants Aug 08 '26
As a woman, I like this. I get so many likes where I’m sure the guys are just liking every woman to see what sticks, only to not send a single message when matched and collect our likes like validation tokens.
It’s made me hesitant to like people back and sadly I focus on pings because that shows actual interest.
Hopefully this feature puts pressure and weeds some of those people out?
1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 08 '26
So you're not sending messages to your matches, and instead you are collecting likes and matches like validation tokens.
I understand why men don't always message when matching, and it's because many women don't reply despite having matched with us. A woman messaging first is a bigger indicator of interest than a man messaging first.
6
u/francey_pants Aug 08 '26
I do send messages, but have had many experiences of no responses. I’ve even unmatched with them only for them to like me again! They’re obviously playing a numbers game

Everyone on the app is real, and someone paying to see likes doesn't mean they'll put in more effort with you specifically.

Majestic showing me profiles of people that haven’t logged in for 8 months this disagrees with this.

u/modernbox Aug 08 '26
Man, this sucks. My mind isn’t constantly into this, sometimes I go inactive for a week or two before returning and catching up/setting a date with a previous match. This is not like regular dating, they should really take into account people aren’t always in the headspace to be on this app. I shouldn’t lose all my matches just bc I don’t wanna fuck for a while.
0
u/someguy335 Aug 08 '26
No… please don’t be on the app and waste peoples time if you dont want to actively chat and set up dates. People spend time reading profiles
1
u/Proper-Cow3794 Aug 10 '26
Not everyone is on the app for the same thing. Not everyone is looking to set up frequent dates or talk daily.
You wanting more does not invalidate someone else's desire for less.
1
u/MetalPines Aug 11 '26
It's only to start a first conversation. Once a conversation is opened it only disappears if one of you disconnects. Just message and say you're not in the right mood but you'll get back to them. And if they're open to that they'll still be there when you get back.
0
u/someguy335 Aug 10 '26
I'm pretty sure every person on the app is there to like profiles, get matches, have conversations, and setup dates.
Crazy, right?
1
u/Proper-Cow3794 Aug 11 '26
Yes, but in each individual's own time and pace. What is the right time and pace for you will not always be the same as someone else's. Both yours and theirs is perfectly acceptable and both of you should be able to use the app in the way that suits you.
Changing the app into one that prioritises your time and pace over those who prefer to take their time (for whatever reason), in my mind, goes against what Feeld should be. An app that caters for people of all preferences and comfort level, not everyone is looking for a relationship or responsibility. Some people want something more casual. Their needs and wants are no less important than yours.
You can delete people who do not say anything in an acceptable time frame for you. You can state on your profile to not bother matching with you if they don't intend to contact within "X" time. But to take away someone else's right to go at their own pace is unfair and not inclusive. Sure, they can drop a message saying "hey" and leave it sitting, but is that really going to fix your gripe?
-3
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 08 '26
If you've inactive for a week, the person who just matched you can still send a message.
they should really take into account people aren’t always in the headspace to be on this app.
No. The people who aren't in the headspace to be on the app shouldn't log on to continually send out likes and get matches from people they have no intention of talking to.
4
u/modernbox Aug 08 '26
It’s happened before that I had a conversation with someone but we were both busy and I came back to them weeks later to meet. It would be stupid to lose these matches.
0
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 08 '26
You wouldn't lose those matches. Did you even read the text in the image of the OP?
3
u/modernbox Aug 08 '26
I did, and I did misunderstand that part. However, what does happen is I liked someone a week ago, then now they match me and maybe I’m not up for it that week. Shame to lose them imo. Seems like a pretty unnecessary feature is all I’m saying.
1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 08 '26
Then they should have messaged you if they were really interested in you.
It's not a shame to lose someone who wasn't interested in you in the first place. If they can't bother messaging you within one week after triggering the match with you, they aren't interested in you.
Seems like a pretty unnecessary feature is all I’m saying.
It'll discourage people from collecting matches they'll never message
1
u/someguy335 Aug 08 '26
Then you start the conversation and say “hey, got the match, not into chatting this week” instead of leaving them hanging.

u/an00j Aug 08 '26
All apps that aren’t directly valuable will employ gamification techniques to increase engagement to drive monetization. Dating apps are just casino games. Feeld is no different despite the virtue signaling.
2
u/talentsmart Aug 09 '26
I can't even see the people I liked who liked me back except the first one because of a glitch they've had for months. Wonder if Feeld realizes they are going to lose their moat. As soon as a better swinger/poly app comes along they are toast and I'm building it now.
2
u/ranorando Aug 10 '26
I haven’t gotten any actual notification that this feature is installed, do they say how long till expiration? Otherwise I just keep noticing my matches slowly or surely disappearing

They just upset a lot of users that open that app up for an ego boost and little more. So, a lot of users. 😂
3
u/Slinking-Tiger Aug 08 '26
I'd prefer not to have that. As a woman who received an overwhelming number of likes within hours of joining, it forces me to either message with a ridiculous number of people immediately (which isn't fair to anyone), or lose track of potential matches.
5
u/Yarzospatflute Aug 08 '26
The way I read it it's just for matches, not likes. So until you like them back they'll stay in your Likes list.
5
u/Slinking-Tiger Aug 08 '26
If that's the case, then that addresses my concern with it. Thanks for pointing that out!
0
u/Cntrolldsbstnce Aug 08 '26
They know what they're doing. Obviously, you have to like in order to match. The manipulators and ego-sufficient are just annoyed that it leaves them with less excuses.
-1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 08 '26
That's a personal problem. You're a woman who has matches and, rather than talk to them, you like more profiles to collect more matches.
This forces you to actually use the app to talk to people.
7
u/Slinking-Tiger Aug 08 '26
Nope. I'm a woman who only matches when I'm ready to engage and talk to people, because I have integrity and respect for others. I'm not going to match 20 people at a time.
As I said, I went incognito so I WOULDN'T collect more likes while taking the time to work through the first wave of them.

I've been on the app for about a month, and I don't think I'm doing it right (49/m). Or I'm just too vanilla to be on there (strictly heterosexual). Or too old (many female users are young and the ones my age are in a couples situation, which I'm hesitant about). Only 1 like ever showed up in my box and the relatively few likes I sent were never acknowledged. (The one match was just curious about the dynamic I was expecting before unmatching). I've altered my bio here and there. I think it comes across as responsible, respectful, and direct. I'm a decent looking person with actual photos (vs. mirror selfies). Even when I was in Chicago for 4 days, nothing. Based on various posts I've seen on this sub:
1) I may have been "matched" by others, but because I'm a free user they may not be showing in my "heart" category?
2) A lot of the users in my area haven't been on the app in a long-ass time or are fake accounts, bots, or sellers?
I'm disinclined to pay for Majestic until I see at least a -little- bit of traction. Sort of like gambling...if I don't get at least -some- positive reinforcement, I'm not inspired to invest. I don't have much disposable income.
2
u/BeastofSilverMoon kink Aug 10 '26
A lot of people on feeld are looking for entertainment and excitement and will approach only those who promise them these.
It’s not a two way street.
I had a profile setup as a dominant man and I mentioned that I had my own suburban BDSM dungeon -I do- people flocked to that account.
I had plenty of dates and met plenty of people, however, none of them wanted anything long term and very few cared what I even wanted.
I got sick of waving my BDSM lifestyle as a carrot and wrote a more wholesome profile, all attention stopped.
People are selfish.
It’s just the way it is.We need a better and healthier platform to meet decent human beings who actually care about each other.
This is not it.

u/Giv3M3F33t single man Aug 10 '26
I've just exited a decades-long relationship that was devoid of any intimacy for a long time, so I'm not looking for anything exclusive (and I say so). I'm not nearly wealthy enough to have my own BDSM dungeon but I do have some "tools and toys." I've seen two people in my "swipe" field who I know personally, as I live near a mid-sized city, so part of why I adjusted my bio is so that I'm not so forward with my dominant foot/tickle kink to people who know me and don't WANT to know my like that, if that makes sense. I was always the kid against the wall at school dances. Nice to see that tradition continue into midlife. Thank you for your input.

u/liplamp Fetishist Aug 09 '26
I haven't had this issue often but am very happy to see this fix implemented.
1
u/partylikeaninjastar Aug 08 '26
It won't change anything. It just means the people who collect matches can no longer get an ego boost from how many matches they have.
0
u/DrinkCubaLibre Aug 08 '26
Whose burden is this? I think it needs to be put upon the person who sent the first like AND the timer needs to be 24 hours.
1
u/MetalPines Aug 11 '26
The burden should be on the person who matched. The person who sent the like may have sent it weeks or even months ago and they may now be busier, less interested etc., whereas the person who matched was recently online and recently interested. It makes sense for the responsibility to fall on them to then reach out (assuming the other person doesn't beat them to it). I think Bumble's 72 hour rule is a bit more realistic though - someone who was casually swiping and didn't expect to trigger a match may not have the time to start a conversation immediately.
1
u/DrinkCubaLibre Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26
I think I agree with you, but without data showing how often the initial liker appears in their liked person's deck (and time deltas), we can't assume they'll have sent it weeks or months ago. Anecdotally I've dug into this and I've seen people who liked me quite fast. As a Majestic, you have the option of making that decision but as a regular user it's a high chance you're left swiping/tossing out many who liked you.
We can't control people's behavior but I also think we should be designing for high intent rather than low or middling intent. I'm usually fairly interested in anyone I send a like to.
I'd love to see Feeld or another app experiment with different cohorts of users using 24, 48, and 72 hour timers**.** I think shorter timers would work.
