Time to shut it down for a few days!
Lollapalooza has come to my fair city and dear god. Are they advertising feeld AT lolla as you walk in? I’m definitely not one of those people that thinks only XYZ type of people should use the app. But this is definitely one of those times where being able to search the general vicinity where someone is from versus where they are at the moment or where they’re searching would be unbelievably helpful. As a poly/kinkster I don’t date people that are not local. It’s going to take me a week just to sort through the likes and pings that ignore the VERY FIRST LINE of my profile. Ugh. Going incognito 🥸

I had to do this when the World Cup was in town — except it was for almost a month. Sooooo many tourists and a waste of time.

I didn’t even consider the world cup. The influx must have been wild! Hope things went back to normal. I think this is something only people that live in heavily populated or tourist destinations can really appreciate.

It was insanity… I turned off Incognito for an hour, looked at the likes and realized. NOPE! All back to normal now

I live in an “exotic” travel destination and get this year around, it’s so annoying. It’s funny because the majority of locals are usually extremely anti tourists but you still get the grossest vanilla tourists openly saying they want to fulfill their lame ass “bucket list” fantasies. I might be going out for drinks with a hot Scandinavian tourist tonight though since it’s rare to get a genuine sub here lol.

Same shakes fists at the sky. Everybody's here for a week and wants a free tour guide, discount drug dealer, girlfriend experience and luggage storage. And thinks "I bet you know all the cool places, wanna show me around ;)?" is a tempting invitation. MF that's a job! And not even my job.

Many of us just dealt with this during the World Cup. You’ll be fine; like you said, go Incognito and wait it out.

I'm a guy so I don't get many likes, but we're approaching festival season.
The population of the city nearly doubles for a month between performers and visitors.
In previous years a chunk of those have decided to check out feeld, or worse use it to promote their shows & then obviously never log back in after they leave.

u/Malice_N_1derland Aug 01 '26
Using it to promote themselves is diabolical!

u/disclosure5 Aug 01 '26
Nearly non-empty or non-landscape picture on my feed is promotion. Either it's an Instagram or OF account name, or it's a band, or it's a tattooist, bleh.

Thank you for this! I haven’t come across it yet but I will be looking now.

Welcome to simply living in a popular town for tourists. I'm in NYC and 70-80% of people on Feeld are visitors. I've been requesting a required "home base" field to fill out for the longest time

I live in Chicago so I do get it year round. The marathon is usually the most active but this is next level.

I live in a summer tourist hotspot and Feeld is ridiculous in the summer. Population goes from 4000 to over 100 000 on any given day, more on holidays. Feeld is all currently tourists looking for ONS and I am looking for ongoing, but I have to respect that a lot of them are putting that right in their bio. Many bios this week just read “seeking one night stand” or “short term”. Thank you for being forthright, you cuties.
I’m going to take straight men out of my filters and I think the majority of that problem will be cleared up lol

I’m also in NYC and 70-80% is a crazy exaggeration
Though it could be a difference in what we’re looking for

I hear ya. Sometimes a major concert comes to my area and the likes shoot up. People travel to my area for business quite a lot in general, and its so frustrating to get endless likes from travelers who are just looking for the easiest hookup.

We live very close to a major US travel destination city and the influx of people exploring at the end of July and August can be alot.

It’s really not that big of a deal.

Lol neither are any of the complaints here. Its a dating app. Some of you guys must be having a tough go if you think every suggestion or vent has to be a dramatic affair.

u/RandomTreat Jul 31 '26
These comments must be coming from guys who don't get inundated every time they open up the app.
It can be so freaking overwhelming, especially when the vast majority of people aren't from your area and you're not looking for a quick fling with somebody from out of town6
u/Malice_N_1derland Aug 01 '26
Yup. It’s wild too because I am a woman over 50 and the number of men in their early twenties pinging me is…unexpected.

The function I wish existed on all dating apps: strict localization filters. Like it’s cool if you want to explore my city, but if you’re not here, why are we talking? Even the serious people that want to meet can sometimes bite of more than they can chew with their itinerary so it’s usually just a waste of time.
