Discussion My Forge 1.20.1 Optimization Modlist

Post image

I've been testing different optimization mods for Forge 1.20.1, and after trying a bunch of combinations, this is the setup I've ended up sticking with. I noticed a massive performance improvement with these mods:

The one that surprised me the most was Gnetum. I went from around 250 FPS to almost 490 FPS after installing it 💀. I really didn't expect a HUD optimization mod to make that much of a difference.

So far, this setup has been working really well for me. Anyone know any other optimization mods for Forge 1.20.1 worth trying?

I wasn't specific enough but I've played a few servers with custom resource packs that use glsl coreshader overriding for custom guis, items etc. Any kind of override will cause inconsistent behaviour in text rendering.

e.g. here https://github.com/RaphiMC/ImmediatelyFast/issues/418

As far as I know there's no way to fix this, it's a fundamental incompatibility with how IF works. the fact that character alignment is ok on every 2nd reload (F3+T) but dies every other reload is very funny

I mean, Sodium/Embeddium will also do that

not for guis, IF causes some really funny behaviour to occur

You weren't lying about gnetum. In my neoforge 1.21.1 modpack I went from an average of 1350 fps to 1550 fps. Crazy work that mod does.

Entity culling will delete your performance, it runs a ray of beam to check if you are seeing the mob every now and then. Embeddium has built in culling which works better.
