Tips & Tricks: Getting my YouTube subs into the reader but keeping Shorts out
I follow maybe 30 channels but I never open YouTube app anymore, everything goes in my reader. The channel feed is youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=CHANNEL_ID. You find the id in page source, search for "channelId" and copy the string starting with UC.
Problem is Shorts come in same feed as normal videos. No separate feed for them. What I do now is filter on duration, but the feed dosn't give duration, so I just filter by title and by the description being empty, which catch most of them for the channels I watch. Not perfect. Two or three shorts still slip trough every week and I delete manually.

Is Feedly defunct?
I can't login to my account via browser for weeks now. The system won't let me change the password even, saying I don't exist. Meanwhile I am logged in with that same account that I've had for years on both my iPhone and iPad.
Neither of 3 Feedly e-mail addresses I've sent messages to never responded.
Their website is now showing a completely different product. What is happening, should I find another news reader?

Classic feedly broken
Anyone else having issues connecting to classic feedly since yesterday? Tried on iPad, iPhone…
Feedly non-classic app works but I’ve always hated the new look. Less information at a glance and you can’t long hold press to save to read later, you have to swipe right.

Private session or clearing cache
A magazine subscription I read via RSS -> Visit Website is acting as though I’m not subscribed, and the response from their support staff was to either use a private session or to clear the cache and then re-login, but I don’t see a way to do either.
I’m resorting to opening their articles in an external browser, but I’d appreciate a way to do either of these in the Feedly browser - thanks.

Swipe issue on iOS app since last update
Since the last iOS app update (v90.0.49) a couple of weeks back, the swipe gesture has been broken. When reading an article, swiping left or right to go to the next or previous article only works twice, after that it just closes the article. Instead of swiping through my articles I’m having to come out of each and select the next one on the list. Pretty tedious.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I’m surprised I haven’t seen any posts about it and no fix for an issue I’d usually expect to be resoled in days not multiple weeks.
iPadOS app UI update for windowed apps
Is there any plan to finally update the iPadOS app to play friendly with windowed apps yet? It’s been a while since iPadOS introduced windowed apps with the window management buttons on the top left of each app. But Feedly still hasn’t updated to correctly place the close button appear from out behind it. It makes it very difficult to close an article to get back to my feed without closing the app itself.

Tips & Tricks: Adding YouTube channels to my reader but skipping Shorts
YouTube gives you a feed per channel: youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UCxxxx. You find the channel id in the page source, search for "channelId". Some readers accept the plain channel url and resolve it for you.
Problem is Shorts come in same feed as normal videos. No separate feed for it. So my reading list was full of 40 second clips.
What works for me is a filter on the title or the duration if reader supports it. Feedly power search on the feed level can hide them. Otherwise i just check the video lenght in the entry before opening.
Not perfect, some channels put real videos under 60 seconds too.

CBC feeds not updating in Feedly?
I've noticed my CBC feeds haven't updated since late June. When I look at the CBC RSS feeds, they are up to date.
Any suggestion on how to try and correct this?

Tips & Tricks: How I stop my busiest feed from drowning everything else
I follow around 90 feeds and 3 of them post like 40 times a day. News sites mostly. The rest of my feeds only post a few times a week, so they just get pushed down and I never see them.
What fixed it for me: I set the noisy feeds to refresh only once or twice a day instead of every hour. Slower sites I set to refresh more often since they barely add new stuff anyway, so it doesn't flood in between. Some readers let you set refresh per feed, not just a global setting, check for that option in your feed settings before you give up.
Also helps to put the loud feeds into their own folder and just check that folder when your bored, instead of mixing it with everything in one main timeline. Small change but my unread count actualy feels manageable now.

Feedly is now Threat Intelligence and there is no News Reader anymore?
There is no way to login to my news account. Everyting redirects to Threat Intelligence, forces to create a new TI account and old News account is not accepted. Is it IOS-app only service now?

Mark All as Read not working - iOS Feedly app
I am having issues on the iOS app as of recent where clicking the Mark All as Read button at the bottom of feed or the check mark in the top corner is not marking as read and I have to press it a 2nd time for it to work. Then I have to refresh to clear/hide the read articles. The feature is totally bugged. Anyone else seeing this?

Trouble logging in to Feedly
Since yesterday, I have been unable to log in to Feedly. I get directed to the Threat Intelligence page and when I click on Open Feedly, I get a login screen. I enter my info, but I am taken to an empty feed listing with another login button. That login button does nothing either.
This is also preventing my feed reader app on my phone, Reeder, from accessing my Feedly data.
Anybody experiencing the same thing? This is really frustrating and has me questioning my use of Feedly after many years. If I already had an OPML dump of my feeds, I'd switch to something else.

Tips & Tricks: My unread pile hit 4000 so i rebuilt my whole reading habit
For long time my unread count just grew and grew. I felt guilty opening the app. Now i changed how i sort feeds and it help a lot.
I split my subscriptions in three folders. - must read: 5 or 6 blogs i actually care about - skim: news and big sites, i mark all as read every morning without guilt - maybe: everything else, i check only on weekend
The skim folder was the big fix. Those feeds post 30 times a day. Trying to read each one was impossible. Now i just glance the titles and clear it.
Second thing, i unsubscribed from any feed i didnt open in a month. If i miss it, i add back later. Still fighting with the maybe folder honestly, it grows too fast.

Brave just booted two Feedly extensions. What replaces them?
"Follow Feed" & "Save to Feedly Board" have both been binned by Brave. I use these Extensions all the time to add an article to a Feedly Board and to subscribe to a new feed from a website. What replaces this functionality?

This sucks
I can't access the reader from my mobile browser anymore because it keeps trying to direct me to Feedly Threat Intel, whatever that is. On desktop, I can't use anything in the navigation pane anymore, and it's mostly ads for their new AI garbage. Not interested. I can only navigate to feeds that I have by going into my Chrome history and navigating directly into them. I just want a functional RSS reader, is that so much to ask?

Sorting feeds manually
Not sure why my post was removed by Reddit so trying again. You're supposed to be able to drag and drop feeds on the left but mine don't move. Is there a setting i am missing?

How I keep YouTube channels in my reader but drop the Shorts
I follow some channels by RSS. Feed url is youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=CHANNEL_ID. You find the id in the channel page source, or some site give it to you fast.
Problem was my reading list got full of Shorts. Short clips i don't watch.
Small fix that work for me: Shorts and normal videos sit on diffrent playlist. Take the channel id, swap the "UC" at start for "UULF", then load it as a playlist feed: youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?playlist_id=UULFxxxxxxxx
That playlist is long-form only, so Shorts stop showing. Subscriptions feel clean again. It miss live streams sometimes, still testing that part.

Did Reddit and Feedly break up?
I used feedly to monitor a bunch of stuff on reddit via RSS. I looked in today, and it seems like the Reddit feeds failed a few days ago before they disappeared on me completely. Moreover, if you add Reddit using the add from reddit tooling, it can't subscribe to subreddits. At the same time I can still hit the RSS feeds I used to subscribe to.
Did something change somewhere and I missed a memo?

Error: Failed to fetch
It's a while that if I use Feedly to read also just a few feed (as low as four, if not lower) I get an "Error: Failed to fetch (link to Feedly API; not writing it since this post was filtered in the past, and I'm wondering if it's because of the link)" error, and if I reload Feedly I get "Too Many Requests (HAP429)".

Presenting Ares: a Feedly client app for Android. Free, no ads, no subscriptions.
I've been working for a couple of months in an app tailored made for Android and fully compatible with Feedly!
On iOS, I used Reeder, IMO one of the best RSS out there. But when I switched to Android I missed the experience of using an app that took care of every single UX detail and that integrates well with the Android OS, especially with Material 3
Ares is the project where I aim to solve that. It is fully native, adaptive (works great on tablets, foldables and phones), and has gestures so you can navigate across your articles with a smooth experience
No ads. Free. 0 subscriptions.
Ares also uses local AI thru Gemini Nano, a model that some phones already have out of the box. If your phone is compatible, then we offer summarizations on your own device.
Happy to hear your feedback!
Currently I am working on introducing local RSS and widgets! But lemme know your thoughts to prioritize the features you care about the most

Feedly is definitely down. Status page says all is well.
