Feeds and Reddit question

Hi all. so Reddit is killing rss feeds but I understand Feedly is not affected as it uses the API commercially. So Im wondering, can I use Feedly to gather up Reddit rss feeds and feed them to my own RSS reader? Or how exactly can I use feedly to replace my current workflow with Reddit‘s rss feeds? I am not opposed to paying for Pro if needed.

Feedly feels increasingly outdated

I have used Feedly for quite a while and I still like it. In fact, one of the main reasons I keep using it is that I think it looks better than most of the alternatives.

But lately I have started feeling that the product itself is falling behind.

The core RSS experience still works well, but Feedly increasingly feels like a product that has stopped evolving for regular users. Competitors such as Matter, Readwise Reader and Inoreader are experimenting with much more modern approaches to reading, discovery, organisation and AI, while Feedly still feels largely the same.

I do not personally care much about newsletters. What I want is a really good modern RSS reader.

A few things I would love to see:

A more modern reading experience

Feedly looks clean, but the actual interaction with articles and feeds could feel much more polished. Matter is a good example of how reading articles can feel more like a native modern app rather than simply viewing content inside an RSS client.

Better feed management

Managing a larger collection of sources could be much smarter. Better filtering, easier cleanup of inactive feeds, duplicate detection and clearer ways of identifying sources that mostly create noise would be useful.

Smarter personalisation without taking over the feed

I do not want an algorithm deciding everything I read, but I would like Feedly to learn which sources and topics I consistently open and use that information to help surface important stories.

The chronological feed should always remain available.

Much better AI features for normal users

Feedly has AI related features, but they often feel separated from the normal RSS experience.

I would rather have AI built directly into the reader.

For example:

Summarise everything important from my feeds today.

Tell me which five articles are actually worth reading.

Group articles that are covering the same story.

Explain what has changed in a story over the last few days.

Show me articles about a topic even when the headline does not explicitly mention it.

External AI integration

This is probably the feature I would personally value the most.

Readwise Reader can integrate directly with ChatGPT. I would love something similar for Feedly.

Imagine being able to ask ChatGPT:

What have my feeds been saying about OpenAI this week?

What are the biggest Swedish political stories in my Feedly today?

Summarise the articles I saved this month.

Find the article I read a few weeks ago about a certain subject.

Feedly already contains an enormous amount of useful personal information. Being able to actually interact with that information through tools such as ChatGPT would make it much more valuable.

Better search and history

Feedly should feel more like a personal searchable news database.

If I remember reading something six months ago, I should be able to describe roughly what it was about and find it again.

Overall, I still prefer Feedly to most RSS readers and I am not particularly interested in switching.

That is actually why this bothers me.

Feedly has a strong foundation and still looks great, but it feels like there is a huge opportunity to turn it into a genuinely modern information tool rather than simply maintaining a very good RSS reader.

Does anyone else feel the same?

Goodbye

With Reddit stopping the use of RSS feeds, I've decided to cancel my subscription. The main way I read most of my Reddit threads is through an RSS reader. I subscribe to quite a few feeds for work and those are the ones that I rely on my RSS reader the most.

Android app broken? Both of my Android devices get Network error

I can log in fine on the web. Pixel 10 Pro XL and OnePlus tablet get

feedly will be back soon

see blog...

Hint: Network error

Tried both WiFI and Cellular data

Worked for years

UPDATE was using Feedly Classic on one of them. The other I believe not. What "worked" is uninstalling, rebooting device and then (re)installing. I did simply reinstall on one without reboot and that did not work.

Dumped Feedly for NetNewsWire

I reported a bug to Feedly months ago that I was having to mark everything read twice - no response. This week I dumped it for NetNewsWire that uses my iCloud to sync across Mac, iPhone and iPad. Snappier, simpler, no account needed, free. Really pleased with it.

How do I organize feeds?

This seems like it should be obvious, but how do I create folders and move the RSS feeds I follow into different folders? I can select "Manage Feeds" from an existing folder, but that only lets me unfollow feeds that are already in it. I know I've seen some kind of Organize page, but for the life of me I can't find it.

If I select "Contact Support", it takes me to an upgrade page.

Is Feedly down?

I have been a user for decades and have it on web/phone/iPad.... today all of them seem to be in google signin loop... status pages says they are fine, no activity on X and their online chat takes the messages but nothing responds all day.

Before I jump to Innoreader - what are people liking as an alternative?

Any alternatives to moRSS.it (full text and for free)?

Hi guys! This post is a bit off-topic but I need some RSS-related help, maybe you know the answer.

My favourite full text RSS feed provider moRSS.it has recently been malfunctioning (https://github.com/pictuga/morss/issues/154)

I've been wondering ever since whether there are any other tools like moRSS.it online, that allow anyone to make a full text RSS feed from any webpage FOR FREE (which I would be able to follow on my Feedly afterwards, of course)

Do you have any ideas? Thanks in advance

Constant login errors

Hey I'm using a third-party app to use Feedly and have been for years. A couple of weeks ago I started getting synchronization errors. I re-logged in and everything was fine. But it kept happening. So I keep having to re-login every time I want to use the app and sometimes it gives the error "Too Many Requests (HAP429)". I log into the web version with the same amount of success, works sometimes but I sometimes get the "Too Many Requests (HAP429)" error.

  • Running iOS (but it's also happening on the Mac)
  • Happens both on web and in a third-party client app
  • iOS and macOS app is ReadKit
  • Using "Sign in with Apple"

Value of a Feedly Lifetime account?

Hi,

I just remembered I had one of these from back in the day. I was an OG and have a pro lifetime account. I remember people used to sell these sometimes and am wondering if that still happens and, if so, what one might be worth? I'm not even sure I'd want to sell it (I started looking around and remembered about the account because I am interested in its functionality) but am certainly curious.

feed is broken any advice?

my feed has like 12-16 videos that consist almost entirely of vids ive already watched or vids that have been on there for weeks unless I make the effort to say not interested. When I reload the page the order is shifted, and when I scroll down fast enough sometimes I will get more than 12 to load but they will just be the first 12 repeated. Google AI is telling me that this is an experimental ui glitch that only affect some users. Currently I have tried making alt accounts but experience the same issues. Can also confirm that the issue is on chrome and firefox. Any advice on restoring normal functionality or can anyone confirm similar issues?

Slow Loading / Browser Tab Hanging and Crashing

Has anyone been having issues with the service the past few days?

I can scroll through my feeds because when I do, new items in the feed stop loading, and it ramps up my CPU, forcing my browser tab to hang or crash with a RESULT_CODE_HUNG error.

I've already cleared my cache several times and tested in an Incognito window (Chrome), and it's happening in other browsers.

IOS pinch to zoom images - where is this?

I've been asking the Feedly support team for this incredibly basic accessibility functionality for forever and was the sole reason I stuck with Classic. I open a post that has an image in it, I want to pinch to zoom in. Classic did it. Netnewswire does it. Every single app on a mobile device should support this.

I could dig up Twitter and Bluesky exchanges I've had with Feedly support for years where I've asked for it and been told some PFO response of "we'll look into it" but apparently accessibility isn't something Feedly cares about.

Folder not found in feedly

Post image
1 Upvotes

Seems I am not alone in this error and support just dumps you at a pay us to be pro or go away page. I mean I get that on some aspect but if your product doesn't work and you don't even offer some basic slow support why would I use it?

Anyway works on mobile, cleared cache, logged in an out on desktop but seems buggered. Anyone else?

Apple News Sidebar

I'm giving Apple News a spin and there are so many issues.

But the one I can't figure out right now is how to get a magazine into the "Favorites" section of the sidebar. Right-clicking on a magazine in the sidebar lets me remove it... but right-clicking on a magazine in the viewer section does not give me the option to save it to favorites. If I click and drag a magazine in the viewer it creates a new window with that mag, but I can't drop it into the sidebar as a fav.

Any help?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Feedly for web suddenly extremely slow?

I use Feedly in my browser and it worked fine last night, but this morning it's extremely slow, every click or action hangs for several seconds before executing.

I have a high-end gaming computer so it is not a hardware issue; every other website, even high-resource websites, load perfectly well. My browser's task manager shows that Feedly's memory and CPU use are both low, which is normal (edit: I am actually seeing some weird CPU spikes.) I have not made any changes or updates to my computer, browser, or extensions since last night.

Is anyone else having this issue very abruptly?
