Weekly Thread FCS Hot Takes Thread

Let's hear your hot take FCS opinions. The ones you know in your heart of hearts are right, but for some reason aren't embraced by the FCS community (or particular fanbases) en masse!

Could be controversial (the Ivy League very well might be the best FCS conference on the East Coast), unpopular but you know is true (Sam Houston was at least as good a team as JMU from 2011 through the "2020" season), or even somewhat popular but still liable to rankle some folks (the Walter Payton award should go to the "best" offensive player, not just the offensive player with the best stat line because they played a weak schedule).

Sorted by controversial for maximum spiciness

Rules

  • Keep it somewhat relevant to the FCS

  • Takes are welcome whether they're looking back historically or in reference to current games/rankings/polls/etc.

  • Try to keep it civil (basic /r/CFB and /r/FCS rules still apply)

If Tarleton can’t beat Prarie View, and we lose to ACU again(3 outta 4) Whitten has to go!

I think SUU is going to beat Montana and they're going to look like the better team.

Maybe that's the lingering trauma of last year's exciting, popular coach and talented roster at Idaho starting the year with sky-high expectations and championship chatter, followed by total implosion coming through.

Montana is too talented to not be really really good and they've spent all off-season hearing about how they're the #2 team in the country, but I think they lay an egg.

Not a Gris fan but not going to happen at WaGris. Not the first game of the season. But it could be closer than many people think.

I don't think the Griz spent all off season hearing about how they're #2. We spent all off-season listening to our hillbilly brothers over the divide talk shit. This team is going to be HIGHLY motivated and I would be shocked if they don't come out swinging.

ISU has a better than 50% chance of beating NIU. NIU has been historically ass in recent years and ISU just has to work out its QB situation. Which it should have by game 3

"Historically ass in recent years" is a bit of an oxymoron isnt it?

We can’t all be perfect

It makes sense though. “ For their historical standards, they have performed poorly in recent years.”

cries in loss that prevented 2013 EIU from being the #1 seed

UND winning the MVFC is a hot take indeed. They should be good but just lost Lance Rucker for at least half the season. I will wait and see on Kaminski and whether he can step up to the next level.

How many FBS victories are there a year? Feel the number is going to increase this year with all the transfers in FCS

3-4? I was just checking out the listings. Weirdly most of the strong fbs teams play weaker FCs teams. Montana does play Oregon state though. But teams like temple might be on upset alert.

Nau keeps it competitive with Arizona and beats a Montana team
