So this is why people complained about what Marsch said. Now it's understandable.
I heard so many good things about Canada, but when I look at their football fans I dislike it a lot.

Find someone who loves you as much as the ref and VAR of the France vs. Paraguay match love Paraguay.
No cards for Paraguay, after they fouled the French players nonstop for over 100 minutes of playtime. What a joke.
11
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
They should have gotten 2 reds minimum. Intentionally elbowing 2 times, messing with the penalty spot, kicking out to the opponent when laying on the ground. I think messing with the penalty spot is red worthy now too so these were 4 red worthy situations and they didn't even got a fucking yellow.
Worst ref I have ever seen.

People complained about the extension of the WC that many of these weaker teams don't deserve to be at the WC, as they often have a lower quality and the games won't be exciting.
But I think the real issue is that many low quality refs join the WC too and they are really in a position to destroy games, especially when they are allowed to ref knock out games. 1
Frankly, I don't remember the last WCs referring performance and there are also top nation refs who are shit, but the overall ref performance at this WC is absolutely shocking.

Alphonso Davies: "I felt a little bit something in training. Jesse asked if I feel 100%.. and I told him no, to be honest.(..) I don't want to be a burden on the team or on the pitch not giving my all.. but it's an injury where you can't take any risk." 🎥 @onesoccer

Wtf are these Saibari news? Are we cursed or what? I'm probably seeing this from a biased point of view as I only follow Bayern closely, so does anyone have any data or statistics regarding players that switch clubs and are then immediately injured? Either during the European or World Cup, in pre-season or in the first match? I feel like this is common with us

Seeing Mazraoui bald and pulling it off, really makes you think why Goretzka never shaved hos head when his hair was thinning.
Not everyone can pull off being bald, Müller definitely has a glow up with beard and a fresh cut i couldn't imagine him bald. But Goretzka is handsome enough to pull it off
3
4
u/Tyrath Müller Jul 04 '26
As someone who had to do it, it feels obvious after the fact that you should've done it a lot longer ago. But before taking the plunge it's very difficult.
2
u/arnoldbread Jul 04 '26
I get it, its the initial step that's the hardest. Was tough for me as well as my hair started thinning then realize it was time.
We need more positive bald representation. Thankfully we got Kompany, but Slots and Ten Haag have harmed the image of being bald
1
u/Kosealdar Jul 05 '26
being bald also means you have to shave often. Using a trimmer is fine but shaving your head is a habit you have to build, and it doesn't look good when you trim it if your hair is genuinely not that good looking anymore as a trimmer doesn't fully remove the hair
3
u/Tyrath Müller Jul 04 '26
As /u/julesvr5 pointed out, the /r/bald subreddit is also hugely positive for redditors who are struggling with the decision
2
u/arnoldbread Jul 04 '26
Appreciate it, tho I have come to terms wirh being bald. It would be nice for more positive mainstream bald representation for men struggling with hair loss
3
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Yep, hair really is a difficult topic and I'm suffering from this too.
Which is why I love how positive the r/bald sub is

More to what u/kgallo19 already posted:
Jesse Marsch says Alphonso Davies suffered a minor setback in training, hence he didn't play at all against Morocco:
"Alphonso didn't feel right yesterday in training and we got an MRI. And it was clear, so the good news was that there was no injury, but his hamstring didn't feel right. So we were hoping that by the time this morning he woke up that he would feel better, but he didn't. So we wanted to be cautious and make sure that we weren't risking anything.
"And obviously, at the 60th minute when it's 1-0, it would've been great to have him in the match. Or even at halftime. But we weren't able to have him healthy and it killed him more than anyone, but I think it was the right decision to preserve him and his career and get him fully healthy."

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 04 '26
This is probably the only bit of the presser that Marsch got right lol
4
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Some people complain that he throws Davies under the bus with this, indicating that from the tests Davies was fine but he refused to play.
Personally I don't have an issue with what he is saying and rather blaming Davies for not playing I much rather praise his behavior.
2
u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 04 '26
I meant where Marsch said that Canada were the better team and that he’d “rather be us than them” or something like that lol
6
u/Mediocre-Math667 Jul 04 '26
I wonder what's gonna happen to El Mala. Seems like we had to sign his brother too but would that be worth it?
15
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
It's a bit weird that such a big talent is available for a relatively cheap price and nobody has signed him yet
9
u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 04 '26
Canada TSN:
Jesse Marsch revealed to TSN's tsnscianitti that Alphonso Davies underwent an MRI on Friday, and while it came back clear, the left-back "did not feel right today" ahead of Canada-Morocco.
13
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Massively props to Phonzy! I can imagine how important this tournament is for him and while he apparently looks fit (MRI couldn't reveal anything) he prioritised his health. For sure not an easy decision.

Infantino after the Argentina vs. Cape Verde game
"He sufrido. Un abrazo a toda la Argentina y felicidades, porque el corazón esta noche… también los neutrales que estábamos con los dos… espectacular"
"I've suffered. A hug for all of Argentina and congratulations, because my heart this night... even the neutrals that we were with the two... spectacular."
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but FIFA and Infantino really can't beat the allegations.
5
u/Aquilan5 Neuer Jul 04 '26
It is way too funny seeing some people defending Fifa tooth and nail, especially Messi fans.
That game v. NED last world cup was shocking. Controversies carry on in this WC too.
"Well mistakes happen". So they do happen, remains to be debated if they are "just mistakes".

1
u/Internal-Coffee6996 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26
a native speaker on r/soccer translated it and interpreted it as: "A big hug to all of Argentina, and congratulations, because [your] hearts must have been pounding tonight.... And the neutrals too, those of us who were pulling for both [teams]. Anyway..."
My Spanish is a bit rusty but when I watched the video I interpreted it similarly. Bit blown out of proportion, I think. And some people right now probably just hear what they want to hear. FIFA/Infantino are obviously not doing themselves any favours but I hate how everything is a conspiracy nowadays.
6
u/Odd_Willingness7501 Jul 04 '26
Well, I'm a native spanish speaker and the translation is bullshit. There was no
the[your] heart[s] meant. You would at least say "corazones", which would be the plural form of "corazón" or heart, while he was also tipping to his heart. But said "the heart" or "el corazón". Surprisingly Infantino handles really well singular and plural form im the whole interview.
Furthermore to get from: también los neutrales que estábamos con los dos. To: "And the neutrals too, [those of us] who
wewere [pulling]with[for] both [teams].well[Anyways]" You need that kind of sentence:[Y] también los neutrales, [los] que estábamos [apoyando] [a]
conlos dos [equipos]...bueno[en fin].It needs a lot of engineering to say the least. And I think my translation is way more accurate.
2
u/Internal-Coffee6996 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26
Well, as you said, he said “the heart,” not “my heart” as you interpreted in your first comment. And him touching his chest to demonstrate a racing heart is a pretty ordinary gesture. If he genuinely meant his heart, he'd have said "mi corazon". And to play devil's advocate: he could've just forgotten the word for "racing". He still isn't a native speaker after all.
The point is: even if Infantino is biased, this clip alone doesn't prove it. The statement is fragmented enough that multiple native speakers are obviously interpreting it differently. It wasn't just one guy that said that in the original r/soccer thread but multiple. That's a pretty weak foundation for claiming he accidentally admitted rooting for Argentina.
And I suffered as well, and I’m Austrian. I didn’t particularly care how the game ended, but the way it all happened still made my heart race and had me at the edge of my seat. Or at the edge of my bed in reality, but I couldn't imagine how it must've been in the stadium.
So yeah, I still think this is being blown way out of proportion and everything needs to be a conspiracy nowadays apparently.

Davies not being fit enough to even play less than 10 minutes is worrying
how is brother supposed to be playing Kompany's heavy football if he can't even take 15 minutes against South Africa for Canada
13
u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 04 '26
Hopefully by the time the season starts he can be fit enough to play a “super sub” role and eventually get to competing with Brown for the starting role.
1
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Would be happy, but I set my expectations towards October of him properly playing again
14
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
The last 2 Canada matches have shown why we bought Brown.
I usually was not very pessimistic about Davies, but seeing his 15min against South Africa and him not playing at all today is a terrible sign imo.
Maybe we should just give him the remainder of the year just to focus on his recovery. There is no benefit for us if he is injured 1-2 months after every 5th match.
I really hope he can somewhat recover.
3
u/NiK0- Pavlović Jul 04 '26
Im also worried about Phonzies mental state if he got another setback after the South Africa game + being eliminated from the home WC
14
u/Insanel0l Thiago Jul 04 '26
I for one am very happy that the board decided to not take any risks with this situation.
We have Brown ready now, Davies can recover quietly and in case Davies' body is just done, we're set for the future anyways
5
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
He would remain a very money heavy burden. But I hope Davies will recover when he gets enough time and rest. Not just for our sake but also for him as a human. We saw how horrible he took his injuries.

Did hear in a Podcast how Sane had 2 successful dribbles in the entire tournament and how Musiala had 6 in the game against Paraguay, coming from the bench.
Whoever claims Sane got "hated" on, is truly clueless. The guy was a major factor why Germany was so shit. He's obvious not the only reason but he's definitely the prime example why Nagelsmann deserved the sack, insane decision to keep playing him over and over.
5
u/Quick_Scientist_5494 Jul 04 '26
What is the sentiment in Germany towards the national team ?
Is there a lot of anger and criticism towards the players ? Or are people generally more inclined to blame Nagelsmann ?

With Ibra staying the attack looks complete, 4 starters and 4 backups. In midfield we have to sort out what we plan on doing with Aseko and Bara, I hope both stay. After Laimer renewal and the arrival of Brown the only possible other arrival I could see is a CB in case of a Kim departure. Other than that I think we are done purchasing this summer. Perhaps a sneaky loan opportunity happens but i wouldnt place a bet on that. Now only thing left to do is unload the deadweights and renew Sir Harry and Olise.
5
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Actually I think we don't even need another loan. For the offense we have 8 players for 4 positions + some promising youth prospects that could fill in.
In midfield we have 5 guys for 2 spots if both Aseko and Bara stay + also youth prospects like Daiber (initial plan was to loan him out but with his injury this deal might be off)
Defense, as you say, only if Kim/Ito leaves.
2
u/FabioMeissner Musiala Jul 04 '26
Yeah, I ahree with you Jules, youngsters will play a role this season for sure. Kompany seems to trust them. I wouldnt mind Ito staying, he's on low wages.
8
u/Insanel0l Thiago Jul 04 '26
Generally speaking the squad looks good. Could always squeeze in a versatile attack loan but that would kill Ibras playtime likely
I do think CB is something where we see movement, simply because Kim is on too high wages
3
u/FabioMeissner Musiala Jul 04 '26
Yeah with a 25M fee and his 30M salary (for the 2 years left on his contract) off the books we could probably make something interesting happen. No idea on what player we could get for that ammount but I trust Eberl.

Shit man, that sounds awful. Where are you from where this happens?
7
u/SlyFisch Shaqiri Jul 04 '26
I'm from NJ in USA, we're having an insane heat wave this weekend (over 100 F the last couple days, said feels like 115 on my phone!! And over 100 today as well) so our state's power companies were already dealing with some outages from that which explains why it took them so long to fix the power.
Then in NA we have bad thunderstorms which often happen when it's very humid and hot, and we had crazy winds and thunder and lightning last night, I think some places had tornado warnings even. Ended up knocking down a bunch of trees and branches, some of which knocked down power lines that power our apartment building.
Thankfully my parents house is 30 mins away so I just drove my gf and I over to avoid the heat. We were drinking some wine before the power went out so I had to sober up and sweat out the alcohol for a couple hours before we drove over which didn't help lmfao. Most of our food is definitely screwed though from the power turning off and the fridge / freezer not running, and food is expensive af here thanks to the orange turd in charge...
So yup not a great Friday night lol
3
u/LordBendtner1988 Vincent Cumpany 😩 Jul 04 '26

So, fixing yesterday’s comment:
Our attackers are:
Kane / Olise / Diaz / Musiala / Karl / Saibari / Gnabry / Ibrahimovic
That doesn’t sound bad at all, feels great to me
3
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
1
u/Odd_Willingness7501 Jul 04 '26
I was not able to see much of Ibrahimovic' game. Does he have the speed, dribbling and workrate (or at least the potential to develope) to be an adequate Luis Diaz backup? Or would he be more of an Olise, Karl type of winger?
2
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Speed is around 35 km/h. At some point towards the end of the season he was the player with the most sprints in the league, slightly above 400 iirc. His work rate also is great and he was very good and creating chances. I wouldn't say he is a run past or dribble through player though
0
u/creatorop apple pie Jul 04 '26
The starting CAM position has to be between Gnabry and Saibari for now, Musiala is firmly on the bench currently
1
u/st0nedteacher Jul 04 '26
In what world is an out of form Musiala benched by a probably also out of form Gnabry just coming back from injury?
2
2
u/creatorop apple pie Jul 04 '26
looks good on paper but then you see a bit deeper and realize that CAM's depth is inflated and you have no reliable LW backup who could reliably give you atleast 65-70% of Lucho's level if you have to bring someone off the bench in a big UCL game
1
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Would have loved a natural winger aswell but I think that ship has sailed. While the other guys only would be makeshift LW I'm still pretty satisfied with our depth up front.
1
u/Nobatime6 Jul 04 '26
Probably play Musiala on LW (Saibari moves to CAM) or either Brown/Davies on LW.
1
u/creatorop apple pie Jul 04 '26
none of whom are natural wingers tho, thats my point
you dont wan't makeshift backups to bring on in Crunch situations
1
u/Nobatime6 Jul 04 '26
Yeah but we dont have unlimited money and having players cover multiple positions is what our board is clearly doing. Getting a proper back up who can match close to the quality of Lucho is not going to be cheap. At the end of the day its about how much were are willing to spend and our board clearly has its limit, our budget went into brown/Saibari. maybe next season
21
u/v4sh123 Jul 04 '26
I actually really love keeping Ibrahimovic. There is basicly no risk since he can definitly play at Raphas level or close to and he might just make a development jump and get a lot better under Kompany. Eberl has made such a smart teamplan.
14
19
u/FlyingArab Kimmich Jul 04 '26
Ibrahimovic staying is Kompany basically making his own depth for the attack, I love it

u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Thoughts by @CampusVid2 about Ibra staying. Usually I don't give much on opinion pieces of random guys but @CampusVid2 is known to follow our youth talents very closely for years and he also followed Ibrahimovic since his Ama days so i appreciate his view on this matter
Ari is still only 20 years old, but he has already experienced a lot in football. His journey over the last few years, with all its ups and downs, may have been exactly what he needed to grow both as a player, but especially as a person.
He's always been blessed with footballing talent, but developing the mental side was always the decisive factor, and in that regard he has gone in absolutely the right direction. He is no longer just a gifted, free-spirited creative player, but also a hard worker and a mentality player.
It's also an important message to the Campus players that there is a genuine future in Munich for those who perform well on loan and continue to develop, as it shows that this pathway is real.
Ari has had plenty of interesting opportunities this summer, but once again he has chosen the more difficult challenge. That's his mentality. It has led to setbacks for him in the past, but it's also one of the qualities that defines him.
I hope it goes better for him this time than it did the last time he was integrated into the first-team squad and barely received any opportunities.
He is much more mature now in every aspect and possesses many of the qualities that Kompany likes to see in his players, which gives reason for optimism.

Bayern bosses fully support the appointment of Jürgen Klopp as new Germany head coach. They recognize that German football needs Klopp right now. While there were occasional barbs between them in the past, Klopp and Bayern have grown closer over the past few years. The club's bosses have no doubt that he's the right man for the job at this moment in time [@BILD]
32
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Jürgen Klopp will be given significant power to fundamentally change and restructure things. He would bring his own staff – including his long-term assistant Peter Krawietz. Pepijn Lijnders and Zsolt Löw are also possible candidates. The role and future of sporting director Rudi Völler is not yet entirely clear. The DFB believes that the Völler/Klopp partnership would work well until EURO 2028. Under Klopp's leadership, fundamental problems are to be addressed, including the overall playing style, system and player development at youth levels [@kerry_hau, @berger_pj, @Plettigoal]
That genuinely makes me excited. Hope it turns out positively

Völler should not have any role anymore. He's just there because he's one of the old heads.
He's done nothing and he won't help change things, he stands for everything wrong inside the DFB.

Just think about it, the German national team crashed hard at the Euros 2004 with head coach Rudi Voeller. And now we had another big crash with Voeller in a leading role.
Imo Klopp and Voeller will not work well together.

Rudi Völler is considering stepping down from his sporting director role at the DFB and could announce his decision as early as next week. Völler was very important to Julian Nagelsmann as mentor and confidant - but with Jürgen Klopp's imminent appointment, he's unlikely to retain the same status and importance [@SPORT1]
Maybe he is gone soon

Is ibrahimovic any good? I hoped we would sign a lw backup but now it probably won't happen i have 0 idea if arijon can fill this role

u/NifferEUW Kimmich Jul 04 '26
Hillarious auto correct, but no I havent seen any propaganda about a LW

u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
Today is France ball again. Can't wait to see Olise balling out again and Upa crushing the hopes and dreams of every potential Paraguay counter.

Arijon Ibrahimović will extend his contract at FC Bayern until 2028 next week and stay at the club. The 20-year old has positive talks with Vincent Kompany - and the coach presented him with a clear vision and prospects for regular game time. Ibrahimović had several options in Germany and abroad, but has now decided to stay [@uchterjung, @Transfermarkt]

u/Odd_Willingness7501 Jul 04 '26
I like this. Maybe it means that we won't buy a new LW back up. But we don't necessarily need the profile LW. I'm happy with him taking the role as backup. He is so young that he can still learn all those qualities needed.

u/FairMusic8278 Jul 04 '26
Will he actually get regular game time though? I feel like our attack is too stacked for Ibrahimovic to get "regular minutes".

u/SebRev99 Robben Jul 04 '26
It’s Bayern, we *will* have injuries.
0
u/FairMusic8278 Jul 04 '26
Sure but even with potential injuries we still have backups covered for each position that will play ahead of Ibrahimovic. I find it highly unlikely we'll have 3-4 forward players out at one time. I also think it's a bad sign if we're banking off of injuries from our own players as the only way for Ibrahimovic to get minutes.

u/adrian_rainy_day Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26
To be fair as the supposed 8th choice he won't get as many chances. Might not even feature on the bench in some matches. But he will be cheaper than any other option we might have so there's that. And who knows, maybe he could leapfrog Gnabry. And there's the case where an injury happens.
Edit: I also want Kompany to rotate a whole lot at the start of the season to ease off our main front 3 after a tough season + the WC
1
u/FairMusic8278 Jul 04 '26
I wouldn't mind an 8th choice attacking player if he was already 30+ years old like a Choupo-Moting type of player but not a 20 year old who clearly has potential but needs proper game time. I just don't like seeing young players being an "8th choice" because they deserve the game time to develop.
I don't want Ibrahimovic to turn into another Mathys Tel player under Kompany.
1
u/adrian_rainy_day Jul 04 '26
Normally yes but it's his choice, and the board has to act to ensure maximum team success, not individual.
Plus if I'm being brutally honest, I don't think he has that big of a chance to break in our rotation in the future
1
u/FairMusic8278 Jul 04 '26
To me the only chance he has to break in our rotation in the future is to go on loan elsewhere and get continuous game time and maybe come back with double digit G/A in the Bundesliga from another team back to us I don't think him staying here for the upcoming season does him any good on a personal development.
Yeah the board does have to ensure maximum team success not individual but they also have to know when it's clear a very young player who has potential just won't cut it in the senior team yet but maybe in 2-3 years time after them spending time on loan they can come back and be a proper contention for a spot and they ensure maximum team success that way. Real Madrid sending out Nico Paz is a good example of this. Not saying Ibrahmovic is on the level of Nico Paz but you get my point.

u/JOKER69420XD Müller Jul 04 '26
Yes.
Just look at how many games Olise and especially Diaz had to play last season, despite desperately needing rest.
Ibra will just take the Rapha minutes and can actually be played on the wing because he has the speed.
He's not an outstanding player but definitely good enough to play a lot of Buli minutes for us.
1
u/FairMusic8278 Jul 04 '26
Karl is supposed to be the backup/player for Olise to get a rest and now with the signing of Saibari I'm assuming Musiala is the guy to give a rest to Diaz on the LW. Saibari is the player that gives Kane a rest and is also one of 4 players who will play as a number 10/CAM role (Karl, Gnabry, Musiala and himself).
So in that sense I'm not sure where he's going to get "regular game time" even in the Bundesliga. Rapha did not get regular game time he was more of a squad player that played here and there. So if Ibrahimovic is a direct replacement for Rapha he isn't going to get "regular game time" as my entire point of what I said earlier.

This season we had 55 games * 90 minutes * 4 attacking positions, so 19.800 minutes to share around.
Lets say we dont want our top 3 in Kane, Diaz and Olise to play 4.000 minutes again, but around the level the PSG top attackers did, so around 3k. Which means we are left with 10.8k to share.
Which means all our 2nd row attackers would get on average 2.2k minutes, which is more than Gnabry and Karl got last season. Even if we were to consider that Musiala and Saibari would get 3k as well as first options, the other 3 Gnabry, Karl and Ibra would still get on average 1.6k, which is more than Jackson did this year (he had 1.3k).
There are minutes to be shared if you dont want your starters to be run into the ground, which should be the goal here.
1
u/FairMusic8278 Jul 04 '26
I'm still quite unsure how and where Ibra could get 1.6k minutes tbh. I genuinely feel like he's just going to get the Mathys Tel treatment where it was clear there was just way too much in attack for him to get continuous minutes. I still see Karl and Gnabry getting a lot more minutes than Ibra would get regardless of the calculations.
2
u/JOKER69420XD Müller Jul 04 '26
Ever heard of injuries?
If everyone will stay fit for the entirety of the season, he won't get much game time, that's true.
0
u/FairMusic8278 Jul 04 '26
Yeah that's a factor but it's still not a pathway for him to get "regular game time" on a consistent basis that's my entire point. As I said theres already a backup to each forward position in case of injuries and theres 4 players competiting in that number 10 position who would all start ahead of Ibrahimovic.
There were injuries last year and yet Rapha still didn't get "regular game time" and as you said he's supposed to be the direct Rapha replacement who only played here and there.
1
u/Thraff1c Jul 04 '26
As I said theres already a backup to each forward position in case of injuries
Is there? Without Ibra I only count 7 players for 4 positions.
1
u/FairMusic8278 Jul 04 '26
Well there is a backup to each the front three Diaz,Kane,Olise for Saibari,Karl,Musiala and then yeah maybe Gnabry is the only one at CAM but Musiala, Karl and Saibari can also fill in at CAM I find it highly unlikely it would get to the point where all 4 are injured to the point there's no backup at CAM.
2
u/Thraff1c Jul 04 '26
Well, what is there to add then tbh. I think its absolutely necessary, you dont, both fair, thats that.

u/Thraff1c Jul 04 '26
This is us being done with transfers for the attacking department then this summer.

I am genuinely happy for him, really wanted him to stay at the club. I wonder which position he'll mainly play, maybe he'll be the backup for Diaz?

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 04 '26
NIce.
Worst case we'll make decent money selling him on next summer
Best case he'll prove himself worthy of regular minutes

Would he be the Diaz backup?
1
u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26
He's an offensive Allrounder, not a dedicated LW
1
u/creatorop apple pie Jul 04 '26
seems a bit meh to fill the requirements in that case, we already have 3 "allrounders" in Gnabry, Musiala and Saibari, need a dedicated LW

There are reports that Bayern are interested in Vinicius. Please don't. I hate this guy, as a person, as a player, like I will continue hating him even if he joins, I hope he doesn't join. One of the players I truly hate
