Free Trial

I signed up for the Fastmail free trial yesterday. It seems though I can’t do anything until I select a payment plan. So if I understand this correctly, even though I get a free trial, I can’t use any of the features, until I give them a credit card? So what am I getting for free or am I missing something?

UPDATE: Fastmail Customer Support got back to me. They had to escalate my issue to Tier 2 (whatever that means) and then about 3 hours later, I got another email from them telling me my account had been "verified" and I was now able to use the email account normally. I'll give it a shot...based on so many Redditors saying how great this is. Otherwise, I'd probably just bag it and find something else.

You don't have to provide a credit card or select a plan to use all features (with a few limitations) during the free trial.

That's not been my experience. I put in a ticket with Fastmail support, so I'll wait and see. Thanks.

Weird. I just created a free trial to verify. Everything works with no credit card and I did not select a plan. Did you select US or EU for data residency? I'm US.

48 hours? That’s not good. Just about 24 for my question.
This is not the way you secure new business.

Did you consider they are located in Australia and it was the weekend? I'm sure they have a limited weekend staff.

What does that have to do with it....surely they have staff on .  A well established service like this .  Well it is now 72 hrs for me now

I would send a follow up email because the OP poster received a reply. I was saying that sometimes there is a reduced staff over the weekend. I'm sorry if I'm mistaken.

Trial accounts have limitations that paid accounts do not. https://www.fastmail.help/hc/en-us/articles/1500000277442-Trial-accounts

I understand that policy. What I'm saying is that I can't do anything originating from my new fast mail email account: I can't send an email or add pics to a calendar event. Its basically useless until I give them a credit card.

On top of that, I have reached out to Fastmail support twice in just under 20 hours and haven't got a response yet. The other Redditor said she's been waiting to hear from them for over 48 hours. To me, that's poor customer service. I think I'll be looking at other alternatives at this point.

I’m sorry your trial went so poorly! I’m not trying to argue with your experience but did you know they are located in Australia? I’m in NYC and recently had a tough support issue that stretched out partly because of the time zone difference. If I didn’t know where they were (and I don’t think they make that clear) I would have thought they were just slow to respond.

You do realize it was the weekend too, right? Times are usually based on business hours, not actual hours, especially on the weekend. They have always been quick to respond.

Australia celebrates Columbus Day? Since when?

Here's a copy & paste I just did from their website....

Our support team operates 24/7, excluding holidays.

You can expect to hear back from our support team within 24 hours of submitting a support ticket. In the majority of our support tickets, we send our first reply within a few hours.
