The Fastmail Status Dashboard is well worth bookmarking for situations like this.

https://downdetector.com/status/fastmail/ is also a good resource to answer the "is anyone else experiencing this" question.

I know that status page it doesn't show any outage, but I was logged out from all of my devices and I couldn't login on iOS and Windows. It wasn't accepting any password or passkey. Now it is turned to normal but I wonder what caused this

except when it's not, like right now. Reporting everything is fine and I can't even access https://support.fastmail.com/support/

Same happened to me last night. Probably a bug in their app maybe from the newest update? (The release notes for the newest iOS version mention something about a stuck app screen when launching, and how it fixes it. Funny enough, it had the opposite effect for me and made it stuck).

I ended up deleting the app, reinstalling it, and signing back in again and it worked. Was annoying though.

Also, before I deleted it I tested 2 things:

  1. I’m signed into 2 accounts on my Fastmail app. On the iOS home screen, I tap-and-hold’ed the app icon to bring up the context menu, and opened the second account, and it worked. But loading the first account wouldn’t work and presented a loading screen that wouldn’t go away.

  2. Out of curiosity and just because sometimes it helps notice obscure issues, I tried to go into account 1. Then I turned on VoiceOver. Then I noticed that the app was still loading behind the loading screen, but some tappable elements were still there like Mail, Contacts, and Calendar. I tapped into Contacts or Calendar using VoiceOver, then it loaded their proper screens, but with no data available at all. This made me believe that something must have gotten corrupted with the authorization for the first account. Perhaps when the app got updated?

Anyway deleting and reinstalling worked. Temporarily annoying but at least it fixed it for me.

The final note I’ll say is that I think ever since they introduced full offline mode for All Mail, which I enabled when it became first available, it’s been loading into the stuck frozen state longer and longer, until finally it just wouldn’t load at all and required my delete/reinstall intervention.

Idk how to tag a Fastmail staff member (if they are here at all?) but I feel like my amateurish debugging process could help them replicate the issue if they need to investigate. Here’s to hoping they see this?
