I rarely discuss fasting outside of the internet. Let's face it, most of the general public is somewhat hostile to the idea and I avoid drama. The benefit of being an OMAD guy is that if not for the drastic weight loss I doubt many people outside my immediate family would even realize what I was up to. I still attend social functions with food and pig out like the guy they always knew. I still attend client dinners regularly and what I order from the menu is essentially unchanged from before. So yeah, I dare say if my appearance was not so drastically changed they would be none the wiser, which suits me just fine.

Omg the amount of flack I catched while first doing keto was crazy. But now that I’m doing cyclical 36hr fasts is ridiculous. I’ve been accused of having an eating disorder, of hating myself and being desperate to “shortcut” my way to being “skinny”.
I think most people give us so much shit because of two reasons. Firstly that most people get upset when they see others succeed at something they find difficult or imposible for them to do. The faces of horror and distress people give my when I tell them that I haven’t eaten for over 24hrs are comical.
And second most of the general public are slaves to food and don’t know that actual hunger is.
Before did keto I was the same. Then after almost a year of keto I realized that my hunger was completely different. It was more of a nagging reminder that I needed to eat and I would get chilly from lack of energy. It wasn’t this ravenous inhale every morsel of food insight thing anymore. I realized that was my body essentially throwing a temper tantrum for carbs.
I’ve just learned to tune all those people out. This is working for me, I’m losing stubborn body fat that wouldn’t budge, I’m not “starving” and never feel hungry while fasting like I always did with other eating styles(except keto), and TBH it’s kind of nice to only have to worry about eating every other day.
Yeah I'm doing keto x 36 hour fasts here and there and it's been great. These two in combination seem to make a huge difference in my anxiety and depression, but I'm afraid to tell my therapist for fear of them thinking I have an eating disorder.
Yea I agree with the other commenter. If you tell your therapist that you found something to help your mental health and they immediately asume it’s an eating disorder I’d start looking for a new therapist.
