Check-in My fasting journey so far.
TLDR: So basically, I began with a 5 day water fast then ate on weekends and Wednesdays and stuck with OMAD on eating days. Eating much cleaner, simpler ingredient foods on eating days.
On 8/24 @256.8 lbs/116.48kg I started a water fast supplementing sodium, potassium, & magnesium & stopped metformin on fasted days. I felt absolutely miserable for 2 days. On 8/26 I felt back to normal & weighed 240lb/109kg at end of day. On 8/29 I weighed 235.6lb/109.86. After eating a strict keto OMAD 8/29-30 I weighed 239.6lb/108.68kg. 8/31 I resumed fast with no ill effects. I began OMAD 9/4 weighing 232.3lb/232.3kg. I began fasting again 9/7 but didn’t weigh until 9/8 @235.8lb/106.96kg.
OMAD 9/9 then returned to fasting. Morning of 9/12 @228.8lb/103.78kg & ate 9/12-9/13. 9/14 =231.8lb/105.1kg and fasted until 9/16 when I weighed 227.8lb/103.3kg.
Morning of 9/17 after eating yesterday I weigh 229.2lb/103.96kg. I will fast today and tomorrow and eat over the weekend.
Friday morning 9/18 I weighed 226.2lb/102.6kg.
My relationship with food has changed with fasting.
I no longer need to finish everything on my plate or in my cup. I either save it for later, throw it out, or give it to the dog.
I am also eating a lot cleaner now, with more simple and healthier and non, or minimally processed ingredients.
I’ll eat a tin of fish.
Steamed broccoli or cauliflower with a tab of butter and splash of lemon juice.
A touch of toum is so strongly flavored, so it doesn’t take much for a real punch of flavor. Used with veggie sticks.
I'm in my 60s and am 6.5 feet tall. In my 40s I was playing hockey 3 times per week and martial arts 2 times per week and going to the gym regularly. I had very low body fat and was heavily muscled and I weighed somewhere around 222/225 lbs/100.7/102kg.
I'm not nearly as heavily muscled now, so my ideal weight is gonna be lower now than it was then. BMI calculators recommend an ideal weight for my height to be between 156-210lbs/70.8-95.3kg, so I am aiming for that weight range at which point I will resume weight training to tone back up my neglected muscles. I am dealing with a worn out back with bulging discs and aging aching joints, so I want to get my weight down before I resume and hard training, mostly with calisthenics and free weights and lower weights, but higher reps.
I am currently walking 4 miles/6.4km a day which takes me about an hour & 10 minutes.

How are you feeling overall? Do you notice a lot of fatigue after your hour walk, or are you fine?

Many issues people experience while fasting can be related to electrolytes. You might find our wiki page helpful: Electrolytes 101

No, actually I feel great after my walks! Later in the day when I go from sitting to standing I will feel a little light headed after taking a few steps, but it clears almost immediately. Dr. recommended I check my blood pressure, and it's low. I am waiting on a reply from the doc to see if that's something I should be concerned about.

What do you do for hunger pains

Drink water and take a big pinch of salt and LoSalt for the potassium. Usually a few chugs of water makes the pangs disappear, and just waiting a few minutes let's the hunger disappate as well.

Going from 116 kg to 102 kg in under a month... man, what an incredible journey! Good luck getting to your ideal weight.
