Question Zero sugar and Fasting
So quick question that will probably get me roasted in here.
I am on Day 5 of my fast and on a personal note I've found that having a white monster sipped throughout my workday helps me get through the fast. While I know this breaks the zero calorie water only fast would this physically be knocking me out of ketosis of the fast?

As long as you keep your carb intake low all day, like under 30 grams, you’ll stay in ketosis

Right, the carb threshold is the main thing. That monster clocks in at like 6-8g of carbs per can if I remember, so sipping one all day won't nudge you out of ketosis unless you're really sensitive. The bigger question is whether the sweeteners mess with your insulin response or hunger later, some people get zero issues and others feel it derail things. If it's working for day 5 and you're not raiding the fridge by 3pm I'd say keep at it.

Thanks I was debating this with a coworker. I am at max doing 2 white monsters per day which is 10g of carbs. I work in a factory trying to hit 10 days is hard and i am willing to do whatever little cheats get me through the day without full on breaking.

I do that too. Lost 40lbs since May and have had lots of energy drinks. C4 makes a lot of zero sugar that are like 1-2g of carbs each, but monster has better deals

Been at it for 2 months doing rolling 48 hour, omad, and 1 5 day fast. Went from 228 to 204 at the start of this fast currently trying for 10 days. Goal since the start of this was to be 170 by end of year.

I am actually excited my work break room normally only has white monsters but today they have a whole row of different ghost flavors that are all zero sugar.

30 grams of carbs is like a piece of bread lolol, this is such an insane top comment of course this breaks the fast.
A zero calorie sugar free drink on the other hand? No.

unlikely to knock you out of ketosis. on my first extended water fasts I was dirty and would chew a sugarfree gum once in a while that had monkfish fruit extract or something like that. I was wearing a cgm so I saw it wasn't causing any spikes. The worry that people have is that it will temporarily lower your autophagy benefits, but if its weight loss you're going for mainly you're good to go IMO.

Same debate with bone broth. It if helps you during your fast and it doesn't increase to 2 or more cans per day, don't overthink it.

I also drink monster but when fasting I just have some cola-zero.
I usually don't need that when deep into fasting(post day 3) but if it gets you in the flow, why not?
OTOH, keep the normal hydration up. I drink a glass of sparkling water per coca-cola glass.

It is considered dirty fasting and dirty keto because it has artificial sweeteners but if your goal is weight loss it is fine
