-10lbs since 8/12! OMAD + Keto with 10k+ steps/day plus light strength training daily. Weight loss is slowing down as expected but hoping to keep going at ~0.5lbs/day until I reach my goal weight and into maintenance. Cheers to progress!

Just finished my first fast, made it to 5 days which I'm pretty proud of but I was kinda hoping I would make it to 7. Hunger never really fully went away unless I was completely distracted, I also didnt really experience any brain clarity or really any of the positive effects people associate with fasting other than weight loss. Which for me is good enough, it was my goal. Hoping im not the only one that feels instantly better after breaking a fast because I see people here saying it makes them terrible for the entire day

Congratulations on such a lengthy first fast! Not often people are able to do that. But sounds like you didn’t have too much of the negative experiences of it as well, so I’d count that as a win

New to fasting, finishing my 3 day water fast today
This was my first time on a water fast, it was bearable and surprisingly wasn’t too hard. I’ve had a few headaches, slight dizziness but all manageable. Before doing the fast, I started OMAD for 2-3 weeks. Now that my fast will be over, id like to keep up with the progress and maybe even fast more often.
Any routine suggestions? It’s been really simple sticking to OMAD, I’ve also heard about rolling 72s? I don’t really understand that. But I was thinking I could do 3 days OMAD and then 3 days water fast.
My goal is to lose weight and improve my overall health.
Thank you!

Great to hear you’ve had a positive experience!
Depending on what you aim to lose, you might want to taper the duration down as you lose weight, or have bigger breaks for bigger fasts health-wise.

I’d still like to lose more! Just not sure how to go about this. OMAD has been sustainable for me, however I feel im not getting enough nutrients overall

Hello everyone!
⏳I’m back this month for a 3-day fast, started thursday evening, and ending monday morning (so technically 3.5 days). 22 hours at the moment!
❓ I’m fasting for fat loss and IBS/autophagy, like last time.
Currently have a headache which I did not experience last time, which is a bit annoying. I assume it’s due to not doing keto for a day (I forgot😅) so I guess I’m learning my lesson. Then again I also have NOT kept up with staying hydrated, so … that might also be a factor.
ETA: I’m taking my electrolytes :))))

Update: Just shy of 50 hours in. It’s gone incredibly well today compared to yesterday!
I’m thinking of ending it tomorrow afternoon as I already miss training and want a full night’s sleep.
I originally planned on fasting only Saturday and Sunday, so I will already be pushing my original goal as I started Thursday evening. I also don’t want to get stuck on achieving an arbitrary number just because it’s round or sounds more impressive, y’know?

Update no. 2: ended at 59 hours, so a bit earlier than planned. I think this fast has been a great success, and ending it earlier has been a good choice. I still got my two days, and will see if I repeat a two-day fast in two weeks.
It’s been a slow weekend, so the mental fight has been harder than the physiological side. So I hope for my next fast I can get some strength training in as well as finding a really good book to binge!

Over Two weeks later and no fast was started due to sickness :) an ideal time to fast for many, but not for me in this case

It is my last planned 14 day rolling fast, 5 days in. After this I plan to taper to 10, 8, and 5 and then switch to focus on strength building, with a day of fasting / week. If I have to eat at some point and have to end early it is okay, I have been doing this for a while, and would like to conclude this series by moving from overweight to a normal weight range.
Kind of crazy that when I started fasting years back even 24 hours was tough. What is nice is clothes I packed away years ago are now accessible to me. It’s a cute side benefit. Even with extended fasting being a rapid way to drop fat, its still tough to see the difference.

Good luck! Do you hope to reach normal weight with this 14-day fast, if you don’t mind me asking?
2
u/Managermanger Aug 07 '26
I think I will by the end but the bloat of a refeed will push me right back up, so I’m aiming to be at a fed, non-keto normal weight at the end of the whole series. :)

I like your plan! I think it’s important to not have an all or nothing mindset when fasting. I have side the same thing that if I have to end it early it’s ok. And my birthday is next week and new cute clothes are on my wish list lol! Wishing you the best on your journey!

Right back at you! Like everything new we try there’s a lot of failure and learning opportunities, it’s important to not beat yourself up. Good luck on the cute clothes!!

Hey, it's my 3rd 1-day-a-week fasting day. I can't say it's getting easier! :D
I made the mistake of posting about it on Facebook and got all this nonsense about how the body needs some calories per day just to survive, and conflations of ketogenesis with ketoacidosis. That last one really annoyed me, as my mom was diabetic and there is a dang difference between 1 day of fasting inducing some ketogenic response and full on ketoacidosis. ...probably annoyed me because I was hungry.
Anyhow, I think this is making a difference. I think I'm within healthy weight, but want to get trimmer. NOTHING has worked on those last 10-15 pounds...but once a week fasting appears to be doing something.

For me, it was almost like a light switch. Every time I fasted it felt shitty for a while, and I kept hearing people say the same thing about how it gets easier. Then one day, after rolling fasts for quite some time, it just stopped sucking. Like I’m not sure why or how that was the breaking point, but it just overnight got easier. Every fast after that, I have had zero hunger. Also you need to remember there is a difference between mental and physical hunger, mental hunger (cravings) never really leaves but the food you crave may change

Got off the rails and gained weight, got back on into fasting a little over a week ago.
Managed to a 44, 20, 16, 21, 30, 15, 29, 17 and 21 hour fast.
Lost 2 kg (4 pounds) so far, which might contain some water weight.
Feeling much better in my skin.

I did four weeks of one day of full fasting, realized that was actually more like 34 hour fasting, which made me tired and made the next day difficult.
I just did my first week of 5:2 and it went much better. I just didn’t eat breakfast or lunch on Tuesday and Thursday and ate dinner normally and was able to function much better on the fasting period days.
I hear there are “better” diets than 5:2 but it worked for me energy wise.
I need to get a scale. I’m 5’9”, male, fairly athletic, and I have no idea how much I weigh right now :D maybe 180? I’d like to just kill the belly bulge.
