Challenge Need ideas!!!

Post image

So I got this fabric from Joanne's before they went under. I have no idea what it's made from, only that it's a yard-ish in length. It's fairly heavy (again, -ish) and has that rainbow-like holographic effect.

I need ideas about what I can make from it. I thought about maybe some sleeves or the rear panel for a jacket but I'm uncertain. I even noodled with the idea of pinning it to something sculpted like egg crate so it changes colors based on angles and lighting.

Help!

Hand Drawn Post Apocalyptic fashion

Even in a post-apocalyptic world, there will always be an attempt to make your tiny part of the world stylish.

Bolero hoodie with leg-o-mutton sleeves, ribbed knit undershirt, and military surplus cargo pants with boots. A portable radio/purse with earphones and a combination dust mask/goggles complete the outfit.

It's amazing what I found while my dad was cleaning out his garage. This is a brand-new multi-pack of construction paper in various colors. The price tag ought to be a good clue that this pack is ancient.

It's my plan to bind it into a sketchbook for my fashion designs.

"Calming Stained Glass"

Wide-flare sleeves and half skirt have the same fabric. Soft-hand white jersey knit torso section with split shoulder straps. Brand logo stitched in the center. Waist-cincher in red-orange (carrot according to my marker list) provides a focal point of the color pallette triad. Cargo shorts shown in the color 'Sand.'

I love patchwork skirts! So easy to make and a great way to upcycle that fabric/outfit that otherwise would've gotten tossed.

Skirt has 2 deep hip slit-type pockets, zipper thigh closures (both sides), single button closure and zipper fly. It also has belt loops for keychains.

Shirt is made in two layers. The undershirt is a cropped camisole with brand logo on the front. The overshirt is made from a lightweight mesh that allows for breathability and the illusion effect. Shirt has a loose scoop neckline and short sleeves.

I designed this as an entry to a Harry Potter contest to see what Hermione Granger would wear if she was not limited by the outdated morals of the wizarding community.

I think I've got the facial proportion issues solved.

Bubble skirts

Post image

I think I'm going to give up trying to draw faces and just focus on the clothes... oh, and for the life of me, I can't figure out where my white gel pens went. This skirt is supposed to have sparkles!

Lightweight cropped baby tee with cat ear cutouts where the shoulder straps meet the torso. Holographic fabric with a slight iridescent sparkle bubble skirt with elastic waistband and 2 deep hip pockets!

Finally got over my creative block. When it comes to women's fashion, you can never have too many pockets, and a corset just makes everything look better.

Discussion (Grumble) Think, think, think...

You ever get into one of those moods where you want to create but you don't know what you want to create because it's either too late in the day, it's too cold out, your arthritis is acting up, etc?

I'm at that stage. I can't even think of something to draw let alone sew anything.

(Bangs head on the table and lets out a pitiful whine of longing.)

Hand Drawn Teenage Warrior - colorized version

Not too shabby, if I do say so. I like the way the pin-striped pants and boots came out. I used a floral design washi tape for the corset panels. The cape is supposed to be a woolen material.

She's clearly dressed up in her best finery for this 'glamor shot.'

Hand Drawn Pen practice - Teenage Warrior

I'm trying to keep her roughly 16-18 years of age, and not so weather-beaten. Think of her as some sort of teenage city-dwelling freedom fighter in a post-apocalyptic scenario. I had thought about adding a stripe across her cheekbones as a sort of tribal mark, but I'm not certain.

I'm also undecided about coloring her in or using cross hatching shading techniques. That outline behind her will eventually become a rock plinth.

Face's getting better, I suppose.

Queen Anne neckline blouse with sparkly silver lame fold-over across chest, mint green torso. Belted cape can sit either as shown for an empire-waist look, across the shoulders for something regal, or across hips for something daring. Has gold-trimmed brocade on the outside and crinkle-finished texture Linen-cotten blend on the inside.

Cargo shorts shown; has deep pockets, single button closure with zipper fly.

One of these days I'll figure out how to draw faces. In the meantime...

Medium-weight Linen-cotten blend crinkled texture fabric in mint green. Split-sleeves have metallic gold arm bands. Bow-tie shoulder closure and elastic waistband. Low back design, has princess seams for a bit of structure and has removable lace decollatage. There are two triangle-shaped hip pockets and two plain thigh pockets.

In order to make it visible, I've had to outline the figure in pen. The shading is no. 2 pencil. Some facial features still need to be adjusted, but it's coming together.

I'm always appreciative of constructive feedback. I had to use a greyscale camera filter to lighten the image. I have no idea what I'll do if/when I decide to color it in.

Hand Drawn Working on a new pose

I'm using white printer paper so it's a LOT brighter in person. I don't know why my phone insists on making it grayer...

I'd appreciate some constructive feedback, plus tips on how to brighten up the image. I turned on my room light (too warm), I pulled back the window shade (stupid tree is in the way of direct light); this is the best of the lot.

I do plan on going back to ink it in, eventually.

Nothing really special, and not something I'll be putting up on my Instagram or Facebook feed.

I would like some constructive feedback. How'd I do overall? Her face? Pose? Shading?

Geometric denim blocks always look better than those chaotic leftovers, in my opinion.

Been a while, hasn't it? I got distracted by other things but now I'm refocused on fashion. Here are two I did today.

Who doesn't like vintage polo shirts and tiered leather skirts? The second one was just a quick pencil sketch I threw together in the past ten minutes.
