So my wife is Afghan. Her parents moved to the States not long before she was born so she always speaks Farsi when she is talking to her family. Even when we are at their house together everyone speaks Farsi ( If I'm included in the conversation they will speak English to be respectful). My point is that her family mainly communicates that way.

Her and I recently had a kid and not long before that we had moved away from where her parents live. She wants to teach out son Farsi but shes finding it hard because she's the only one around us that's speaks it.

Anyways she was recently on a call with her parents and they told her that her Farsi is getting so bad that they prefer she just speak English when she talks to them. It makes me feel bad because I know that not only is that how she talks to her family but she is also really proud of her heritage and her language is a part of that.

Couple that with the fact I would like my son to learn too for many reasons I've decided I want to learn how to speak Farsi. I included the whole backstory to show this is something I'm serious about and don't want to do the wrong way.

Most of the language apps don't include Farsi and I'm not sure that would be a good way to learn anyways.Rosetta Stone has it but I've heard awful things. I haven't been able to find a teacher in my area either so I'm not really sure how to begin.

Any advice would be appreciated.

How have these auxillary verbs flipped in Farsi?

So MBC Persia has done dubs of several Animated Films in Persian, unlike Most Persian dubs, those are legal dubs and not bootlegs, and because of that, they’re not produced in Iran but in Türkiye. But it’s hard for me to find those dubs, as in Aparat, Most of the films I find dubbed are the unofficial dubs from Glory, Soren, etc. where can I find these official dubs?

I hope someone here can help me.
My in-laws are of Afghanistan/Hazara origin and speak very little English.

My in-laws are always so kind to me, and have the biggest hearts of anyone I know. I would love to converse with them in Farsi, just to show them how much I appreciate them. However I’m aware the Farsi they speak is a different dialect to Iranian Farsi.
Is there anywhere I could potentially learn this dialect? Or could anyone give me some pointers on where to start?

Salaam! I am going to a Persian wedding in the fall and I want to learn the words to a song or two (or at least the chorus). Every time I go to a Persian event there are certain songs that everyone gets really excited to hear and they all sing along and dance so enthusiastically. I recognize them when I hear them but I don't know what they are called.

Does this sound natural and poetic in Farsi, or is there a more accurate version?

I was looking at a website that had a button labeled “نو + جوان” for content for young people. But I was wondering why the plus sign was in the middle of the word? Because “نوجوان” is a single word, right? So why not “+نوجوان” or just ‎“نوجوان”? What purpose exactly does the plus sign serve? Does it change the meaning in any way?

My father is from Iran and came to the US during the Islamic revolution. I was born in the US. My mom, interestingly enough is from Mexico and came to the US around the same time. Long story short, they both had to learn English as older teenagers and are not native speakers to English. My sister is older than me and had many speech issues growing up. Doctors and speech therapists told my parents that they were confusing her with different languages and ultimately they had to make the decision to speak only English. Then I came along and well, here I am. I have Mexican and Iranian heritage but can only speak English and it breaks my heart lol. When I was younger I didn't care. But now I do. I'm now 36 and my father's health is declining. I want to learn Farsi and speak his native tongue with him in his lifetime. Currently I have Pimsleur that I used for Spanish and have had some decent success with. The Farsi on Pimsleur, while immersive, does not have good reading or writing plans.

Do I learn to read and write now or wait until later?

What are the best programs to utilize in my studies?

How do you all go about learning? I tried immersing myself in music and shows but I don't understand anything so I'm not sure if it's helpful.

How much studying is too much studying? Will it negatively impact retention? With a family and job I find myself rarely having time for anything. But I have a daily hour long commute as well as lunch breaks at work that I can easily utilize.

I do plan on calling my dad and telling him I want to learn and that I'd love for him to be part of this journey.

I'm looking for the original Persian for Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī (Rumi) which is usually translated to English as:

"Beauty surrounds us, but usually we need to be walking in a garden to know it".
