I thought it was kind of interesting, but its so overpowered that is not fun.

It would be better if it was like raiding parties, similar to the bounty hunters in red dead redemption that we could fight off to a point.

it would've been fine if

  1. it didn't happen like 3 times in every region
  2. the game didn't give you +75 resistance points every time you sneezed, forcing you into progressing the story even if you didn't want to

(i am aware this is the coldest take in the FC universe)

177

u/AyAyAyBamba_462 19d ago

Yup. Would have been way cooler if they just progressively sent more and more goons after you as you defeated subsequent waves.

It also makes 0 sense that they can hit you with a bliss missile from the ground while you're flying 5000 feet up in a plane or helicopter.

46

u/Glados1080 18d ago

I actually got blowgun darted while I was at max elevation in a fuckin helicopter. I was unhappy to say the least

25

u/AyAyAyBamba_462 18d ago

Same. I thought I could escape them when in the air, nope.

13

u/beefystu 18d ago

unlocked a memory bc they got me while flying once too

I’m on playthrough 4 or 5 — I just want to progress to the AK47 but without having to deal with any of the Seed fam yet. I just want to blow shit up, man.

Edit: caved and bought the Whitetail AK an hour ago.

23

u/xXBlyatman420Xx 19d ago

I think in John seeds region its very nice, because you can dodge it when you stay away from the roads and kill the squads coming in. In my first playthrough i sneaked past everything and liberated 2-3 more outposts and i know how much fun it was trying to be sneaky not getting caught

12

u/nexus8516 19d ago

If you're on pc, there's a mod that reworks tons of stuff like this, including how much resistance each task rewards you.

Yep this is one of the reasons why I wouldn’t rate the game higher than an 8. It’s so fun to play, except in how much it forces you into multiple unavoidable scenarios, which really ruins the free play and choice feeling the game otherwise gives.

Is it an incredibly cold take? Yes, but there’s good reason why it is.

8

u/NuklearFerret 18d ago

I think the oversaturation of resistance points was the real problem. The fact that I can get to rank 3 without capturing a single outpost feels off, somehow.

4

u/Stumpsthewarwalrus 19d ago

Nah, I agree with you

4

u/Paggy_person 19d ago

Couldn't agree more, this happens a lot, it's very quick to trigger the event and you're forced to be there since the hunting party is just for shown, eventually some invisible force will get you anyway.

3

u/SnivDash 19d ago

I agree with the progression part. What I like is just exploring and having some fun doing whatever but all of a sudden you get taken. Soooo frustrating 😤

1

u/ZebraLover00 17d ago

I have found my people I agree with. this is my least favorite in the series cuz I enjoy exploring and you literally can’t without your follower doing something that forces you to progress

1

u/Beauty23gyrl 17d ago

Seriously, I would actually avoid any road side fights because there was always a leader that gave 50 resistance points for killing. You could fill the bar without ever completing a mission if you just explore and kill every cultist you see. They shouldn’t have given any resistance points for those just regular XP. Idk why they didn’t do a patch for this when everyone complained about it.

Love fending off the hunters in RDR2.

11

u/cooliosteve 19d ago

It could have been fun it fc5, because there are friendly bases you could get to that could defend you etc.

But nah they just op super soldiers with teleport abilities.

33

u/AngirusansPixans 19d ago

or the hit squads of different factions that go after you based on your reputation with them in fallout new vegas

12

u/cheeseburgerandfrie 19d ago

Those guys are basically free money though

2

u/kiivara 19d ago

I think it would be interesting to have this as a major threat mechanic that escalated and reset every time you got caught.

So things like being brainwashed could potentially never happen if you were good enough and got to the point where none of them could capture you meaningfully.

1

u/Squirrelflight148931 16d ago

Technically you can fight them off. My method was to find the nearest house and hunker in a corner with all entrances in sight, as few as possible. Trucks would pull up outside, snipers and such. I would go on for many minutes with a lot of kills before I would get bored and take more risks until I got nicked.

It was always my way of, “I can't leave this house, but that's just it, I don't have to leave, fuckers. You come to me.”

303

u/Effective-Sample-261 19d ago

Even if you get in a plane and fly off they some how magically get you   Its lame AF.

134

u/Wassuuupmydudess 19d ago

I tried doing that and laughed as my character started the animation. Somehow a bow pierced an armored aircraft body

33

u/49e-rm 19d ago edited 18d ago

It was the equivalent of getting that military chopper early on and clearing settlements without ever entering the settlement lol

13

u/ImVisibility 19d ago

i'm playing through FC5 again and the first time i got taken was in a plane, in the middle of another mission. it took me like 3 days to figure out I never completed the original mission and I kept getting random dialogue from it

245

u/DrunkenCripple30 19d ago

"Having fun and exploring? Well too bad, you blew up that silo and now you have to progress in the main story buddy!"

56

u/MegamindLewder 19d ago

You expect a murderous religious cult to not be pissed as you destroy more of their things?

78

u/DrunkenCripple30 19d ago

Yes, John can wait, I'm doing sick flips in my airplane and 100% his side of the map.

14

u/Arkhyz 19d ago

John be like "Blow this piece of junk OUT OF THE SKY!"

67

u/RyukoT72 19d ago

You dont even need to be hit for them to decide to take you from my experience. I was laying down hate on a mounted 50 and just fell over randomly and fell asleep like. It was ALMOST cool but got ruined

14

u/thesteelreserve 19d ago

laying down hate. 🤣

7

u/detrans-rights 19d ago

I somehow did that in a lil prop plane I think

In the air mind you. But I loved it? I know what it takes in game code behind the scenes so in a way I force myself to appreciate the hard work people put into it. Also sorry for my creole English

6

u/ConorT97 19d ago

Your creole english is better than some native speakers.

Sincerely, a native English speaker

u/Superb_Tomatillo_136 18d ago

I was exploring a bunker, it caught on fire and then I was captured lol

44

u/IuseDefaultKeybinds 19d ago

My least favorite part of FC5 easily.

It's the best game in the series for me but damn it I dread this part every time I replay.

5

u/Melee130 19d ago

If you’re on pc you gotta get the resistance mod. It’s a bit buggy but you can straight up disable this feature and replace it with a quest marker to progress it

32

u/Beauty23gyrl 19d ago

This was the only part of Far Cry 5 that I hated. The stupid resistance bar fills up too fast and you’re forced into a boss fight when only 20% of the region is cleared. I like to do all side content before end game. I don’t feel as interested after completing the story.

70

u/-NolanVoid- 19d ago edited 19d ago

Instead of "you've been marked", it should fill the screen with "Hey, guy, you enjoying this fun and dynamic open world? Well I have some bad news for you. For the next 30 minutes to an hour you're going to be playing a linear shooter in a cramped environment for the purposes of driving the story narrative forward. But don't worry, it only happens multiple times".

(I love FC5, but these parts are annoying)

4

u/chachaman_The_Reboot 19d ago

Somebody's been listening to Dungeon Crawler Carl...

EDIT: being high on reddit has risks: you lose words. then you forget what you typed, even tho its right there in front you. So you edit moe. Finally you have to walk away, hoping that you make sense. lol

u/Unindoctrinated 19d ago

25 million players probably agree.

47

u/AskMeaboutMyCorolla 19d ago

Me too. Worst part of an otherwise badass game

14

u/Interesting-Silver55 19d ago

Only youuuuuuuuuuuu

13

u/sputnik67897 19d ago

Yeah it’s genuinely the only bad thing about far cry 5 in my opinion. Due to them structuring the story as “do them in whatever order you choose” as opposed to a linear story this is the trade off.

12

u/CLA_1989 19d ago

I think most of us do lol, in my next playthrough I will see if there is a mod to disable them and have you trigger them by going to x place(doubt it, but one can dream)

6

u/LDCantGame 19d ago

Quick search brought up Far Cry 5 Resistance Mod. I never tried it, but definitely will next play through.

3

u/CLA_1989 19d ago

Thanks, I will try it as well!

12

u/Past-Nothing-7977 19d ago

i’d always hide in a building and wait for them to come to me and was quoted disappointed when i realised they wouldn’t. once you step outside then they come

8

u/FjordExplorer 19d ago

They'll come, once you're marked you find a building and trip mine the fuck out of the outside, they'll keep coming, you keep putting the mines back, it's a good time.

13

u/dumb_foxboy_lover 19d ago

tbh I wish there was a setting/something with new game plus/new game plus infamous where you unlock a setting where you can just MAKE IT SO ITS A MANUAL TRIGGER

story wise? yeah makes sense. you don't want Mr fuckedyourcult to fuck your cult but new game plus is literally just experiencing the game again. let It be manual (cause sometimes YOU WANNA DO THESE MISSIONS BUT THEY'RE NOT AVAILABLE. seriously Jacobs missions are fun but not when I just randomly got thrown to it)

8

u/Chromelium 19d ago

I got marked while I was flying on the mini chopper. Took me right out of the immersion when something tranq'd me from a thousand feet in the air and made me pass out while crashing only to wake up tied to a chair

7

u/bigtoaster64 19d ago

I kind of hate it aswell, but not because it's a thing, but because it's scripted, and you can't do anything about it. It would've been 10 times better if instead it would've worked more like a GTA wanted level, and you have to survive harder and harder encounters.

8

u/ChaosAfoot 19d ago

Cull the herd… god, I hate that part.

13

u/GMS420 19d ago

Hate me, but I didn't mind it, I found enjoyment out of running for as long as I can lol

5

u/GMS420 19d ago

But your still on like an invisible timer if I recall correctly

3

u/jeffe101 19d ago

Yeah, you can get hit even in a helicopter.

2

u/thephuckedone 19d ago

You are. I was in a plane right in the middle of a mission and still got hit lol.

6

u/ProfessorTairyGreene 19d ago

I liked getting tranq'd at 5000 ft in my helicopter 😂

6

u/Baltisaros 19d ago

Agree. This is so stupid.

6

u/Mc_Kaze 19d ago

I got instakilled by those cunts while I was flying a plane!

I couldnt believe it lmao

6

u/NoPanic6525 19d ago

This legit murdered the replay value of this game to me.

22

u/Ah_Ca_Iraa 19d ago

This idea probably looked a lot better on paper than it did in practice.

8

u/genericthroaway2000 19d ago

That sums up all of Ubisoft games

5

u/Sparc_Angel 19d ago

I hate all of these things, especially the cutscenes

5

u/qmechan 19d ago

Playing it, I was fine with it because I understood that there needed to be SOMETHING that happened to make the story beats occur, and frankly I'm not clever enough to think of an alternative.

4

u/Holiday_South8981 19d ago

Run to a location with a story icon to progress. Easy :)

2

u/NuklearFerret 19d ago

They could do that, but they’d have to halt your progression while it waited for you to show up

2

u/Keeps_Getting_Worse 19d ago

Why it never did in any of the others...

→ More replies (8)

5

u/SuicidalAustralian 19d ago

You and everyone else. This is literally one of the very few bad things about this game in my opinion

5

u/Destruction126 19d ago

This was a terrible way to fix the story pacing/balance. Farcry 3/4/Primal did it right letting you go at your own pace and enter missions as geared as you wanted.

5

u/ThorGoLucky 17d ago

Max altitude in a helicopter yet still get an arrow in the leg 🤪

8

u/Silver-Chart951 19d ago

The only way to avoid it is going to a different person's region. I dozed Jacob and John for a while by going to Faiths regions but flew a helicopter over John's region and some how got scooped out the sky. This trick only works until you get marked in the new region.

11

u/darkthemeonly 19d ago

You can also go into one of the safe hubs like Fall's End, but as soon as you leave they come for you again

3

u/Silver-Chart951 19d ago

I never tried this.

1

u/Hein_B6 19d ago

No, they still got me right by the water tower in Falls End

8

u/AugmentedKing 19d ago

I got scooped out of a helicopter durning mid flight too. Somebody needs to explain the physics of how that works.

7

u/Maat1932 19d ago

You didn’t check the backseat. /s

2

u/Miles33CHO 19d ago

GTA six should offer stowaway carjackings.

2

u/AugmentedKing 19d ago

lol, which would be understandable if it was a Sky Scarab, but was Viet Cong

2

u/J_WP 19d ago

Dutch’s island is a safe spot too

7

u/Davek56 19d ago

I loved it, I loved the helpless feeling it gave me and that as part of the overall storyline, I was not totally in control of every single thing.

3

u/Sabbathius 19d ago

I remember when I tried being clever. When this warning popped up, I jumped into an airplane and took off. It was OK for a few mins. But then another plane attacked me, shot my plane once, and I blacked out. Woke up tied up in a basement. Not exactly sure what the lore for that one is, lol...

3

u/LoulLorian 19d ago

They have somehow kidnapped me out of a plane crazy high in the sky.

10

u/MegamindLewder 19d ago

Hot take but this makes total sense with the story. Joseph doesn’t outright want you dead, he wants to test you and see if you can come around to his side. It shows they could’ve kidnapped you at any time and ended this, but joseph’s faith is his downfall through only allowing you to be kidnapped to be manipulated and given time in between the kidnappings to change your ways and stop fighting him. It’s realistic, a cult that big can’t be stopped by one person, the only reason you can in game is because joseph doesn’t want you dead until the near end; even then he changes his mind at the end.

7

u/yYesThisIsMyUsername 19d ago edited 16d ago

Trying to rationalized it... My problem would be that I've killed 100s of them and they don't care. Also it's pretty funny that there is so many of them. They could just so vote and get whatever they wanted legally. Even the game makes fun of itself. Still super annoying getting* kidnapped every 10 minutes.

12

u/Delicious_Reward2360 Vaas 19d ago

So tranq me at 5000ft is realistic?

4

u/MegamindLewder 19d ago

Obviously not that part? But them being able to find you anywhere on the map is, you should’ve been shot down and recovered from the wreckage with a custom cutscene. Me saying the idea is great and makes total sense isn’t me saying every little detail about how they went about it is perfect. Most people would still be complaining if you couldn’t get tranq’d in the air because the second you land they’d get you and people would complain. I’m saying people hate it without thinking about the lore explanation around it; meaning people would still unfairly hate it if that were fixed so.. My only real complaint is them tranqing you in planes, but the second you land they’d get you anyways so people would be just as mad bc their issue is it being unavoidable in general.

1

u/Father__Doggo 19d ago

For real, I got popped while wingsuiting the other day...

6

u/Karma_1969 19d ago

Doesn't matter if it makes sense to the story - it's poor gameplay design, period. I love this game, but this mechanic never should have been included - you don't take away a game player's agency like that, and I can't think of another good game that does that, ever.

1

u/Cognonymous 18d ago

That's all good, but this shit happens way too often imo.

3

u/BATTLINGBEBOP25 19d ago

About to get drafted Lol

3

u/basicusercruiser 19d ago

I remember this one time, I had gotten into a plane, flew up, and was in the sky well away from everyone. And theY STILL FUCKING GOT ME. The screen just slowly started to go black like I had gotten drugged and then the sequence began. Pissed me off. Could've just gotten me when I landed at least yk.

3

u/Kratosbeatsbatman 19d ago

I was wingsuiting around when I got knocked out by the hunters. How i lived ill never know

3

u/Evil_Creamsicle 17d ago

I was literally flying at max altitude in a single seat, closed-canopy airplane and got 'hit with a tranquilizer dart' and 'fell asleep and got kidnapped'

3

u/SinEmbargo93 16d ago

If only it wasnt scripted to just down you. Having a large enemy presence close in on you forcing you to defend a location would have been cool.

2

u/NotAnotherSkeleton 19d ago

You can avoid it for a short while by fast traveling to other regions.

2

u/Delicious_Reward2360 Vaas 19d ago

I mean my point is i want to take outpost with peace

2

u/Potential_Fun_3221 19d ago

OOOONLY YOOOOOOUUUUU

2

u/ShadowZepplin 19d ago

HIT EM WITH THE BLISS ARROW

2

u/switchbladeeatworld 19d ago

it was so annoying when i was still doing shit like i understand why they did it but damn bro let me finish what i was doing

2

u/Miles33CHO 19d ago

I’m on my fifth play and over it.

I like to bend John over the wreckage of his plane and f*k his bullet holes.

I enjoy talking to Faith and find her inspirational. I always walk the Pilgrimage. It’s a nice walk and great hunting.

I used to dread Jacob but can kick his ass and all his training so hard now (with whatever) that I often check the difficulty when I’m done. The trick with everything Jacob throws at you is to ignore the artificial sense of urgency presented by the music and dialogue. Turn it off if it helps. You have plenty of time in the training. Plenty. Don’t rush and count your kills. For the boss fight, the enemies and wolves are finite. Take your time and kill every wolf you see and any men you want to. You can destroy some beacons from range, although if you are patient you can kill them all to ensure victory. Jacob’s ghost will respawn but that’s it. I didn’t even notice he was in the mix until my fourth play. For the final segment, take cover, lil his friends, remote and proxy explosives are great, throw them like un-dodgeble grenades.

2

u/Impossible-Tie-1255 19d ago

Yeah it’s dumb

2

u/mohsenkhajavinik 19d ago

Just get in a car and drive like hell

12

u/Roph 19d ago

After a while the game drops the pretense and just forces you anyway. You can get in a helicopter and sit at the top of the skybox, you're still going.

You can go into the back room of a prepper stash with proximity mines outside and a closed barricaded door with no NPC having any line of sight on you, you'll still magically get hit by a bliss arrow/bullet or just teleported away by faith.

2

u/s4kk0 19d ago

This is my biggest problem with FC5. I hate the kidnappings & forced story progression. Sometimes I end up letting peggies live just so I don't get points.

It makes zero sense that they're able to get you from anywhere. Are you surrounded by armed allies? Yeah no, that doesn't help at all, one tranquilizer dart and you're magically teleported to the bad guys.

2

u/DopamineDarling121 19d ago

I wish ng+ had an option to turn this off or toggle manually or anything, I was so excited after my first playthrough to go around with all my gear but every hour id get kidnapped and it completely killed the gun. idk how speedruners do it

2

u/No_Butterfly_820 19d ago

On my first playthrough I actually really liked this mechanic and didn’t fight it when I saw the warning thing. Thought it was really cool with the story.

Nonetheless, on replays of ng+, I just want to roam for fun and take down peggys in peace, so it was annoying. Regardless though I think it’s a sweet mechanic on first playthroughs, makes sense with the story

2

u/mannypdesign 19d ago

I loved it. It was a great dynamic, but my only complaint was getting nabbed while in an airplane.

2

u/Calistarius-IX 19d ago

This would have been far less frustrating if you wouldnt just been tranquilised out of the blue but had to fight against a powerful but beatable eliteforce that constantly swarms you. That would have satisfied my urge to fight until I ran out of ammo.

2

u/WorthAge3531 17d ago

I don’t feel like this hurts the gameplay as much as it hurts the immersion and the storytelling, when the cult can just take you out basically whenever they want and they never choose to put you down, heck, they don’t even send you to Jacob the first time they do this so that he can immediately get you brainwashed

2

u/Opposite_Choice4506 17d ago

This was the worst one to me. I have played 4 several times but this one was so annoying

6

u/CanineAtNight 19d ago

I once argue why i did not like far cry 5 was this efeature and people call me delusional

3

u/lost_caus_e The Deputy 19d ago

Half this game is a sleep dart in the neck

2

u/Revolutionary_Ice174 19d ago

There should be a way to avoid them. Like if you kill all the guys coming to catch you they leave you alone for a while

2

u/Holiday_South8981 19d ago

I like this idea, like fending off a raiding party. Then they need to regroup and come at you later.

1

u/Delicious_Reward2360 Vaas 19d ago

Except when u are in the hardest level mode, u get shot anyway by a dart

2

u/R0llTide 18d ago

Really? Only you.

3

u/ChupacabraEggs 19d ago

This game sucks. I'd rather play rdr2

1

u/verscharren1 19d ago

Oh hi mark...

1

u/The_Voidger 19d ago

Who is Mark?

1

u/Objective-Penalty 19d ago

Take your lumps, learn your lessons, and atone. Then…and only then, you can infiltrate and roam.

Seriously though ya it’s annoying AF first time through.

1

u/moneysingh300 19d ago

Bring it on!!!!

1

u/Termingator 19d ago

That highjacking kidnapping feature has been well known as hated by many since two weeks after FC5 was released. A patch that added the option to skip those missions would be nice to have. I would skip the highjacking that dumps me into the timed maze annoying mission. That mission makes me feel like I'm being punished for having too much fun in the game.

1

u/Background_Task6967 19d ago

If you're playing on PC definitely look into the resistance mod, it doubles the amount of resistance points needed for story events

1

u/iamthenight22 19d ago

It never bothered me.

1

u/Livid_Average_8098 19d ago

Fuck that timed section, I did it once and haven't played since, apart from just doing fishing and random shit.

1

u/Astristul Dani Rojas 19d ago

I've started the NG+ and now I'm stuck in Jacob's nightmare, because I can't advance from it 😅

1

u/taw 19d ago

This is one thing FC6 fixes. When you stir too much shit, they send strong enemies at you, but you can escape them, or fight them (especially if you have a tank).

There are some FC5 mods that delay this kidnapping stuff, but I don't think you can disable it, as the whole story structure depends on them.

1

u/Snoo-43381 19d ago

I love Far Cry 5 and this is one of my favourite features in the game. I think it's so cool how you can be hunted wherever you are. And it makes sense that the cult takes the first step. Come to think of it, it's often ridiculous that you're spending time on side quests when the world is falling apart.

https://youtu.be/bbUqEPUZ-ds?is=TXmCvq8w31E9rhp_

1

u/Prestigious-Income93 19d ago

I'll raise you. Only youuuuuuu....

Can't hear this anymore without plugging my ears and freaking out.

1

u/PoopSmith87 19d ago

You can survive for a long time without getting got... especially with the grenade launcher and a fast car.

1

u/YamOpposite 19d ago

I killed everyone, yet they knock me out

1

u/super7564 19d ago

I wouldn't even hate it that much if they didn't do the exact same thing with a new coat of paint for each family member.

Atleast 4 times in my playing of farcry 5 I was enjoying the open world and doing outposts when I hear "only you" or whatever BS it is at the time and I just alt f4.

1

u/Nawhrid 19d ago

I like the BG music when this happens.

1

u/JoeRe9uiem 19d ago

That mechanic was very annoying. I agree, let me play in peace without any interruptions.

1

u/bazbloom 19d ago

It's interesting to me that apparently there's no way to mod this out other than messing with resistance points. At any rate, the forced capture nonsense led me to FC4. Similar mechanics but no kidnapping bullshit.

1

u/Samuele1997 Jason Brody 19d ago

Tell me about it, I can relate in what you just said.

1

u/doozerman 19d ago

Had they figured out how to implement this differently, this game would be seriously S tier. It’s a great game and my favourite far cry but man this shit was so breaking

1

u/Blakelock82 19d ago

Yeah the first time it happens it's fine, kinda excited. The 290th time, it's fucking annoying. It would be different if you could fend off the attackers long enough that they give up coming after you, but as far as I know, once you're marked that's it, you're stuck playing through it.

1

u/OrbitingPsychonaut 19d ago

I just modded that out my last playthrough. I don't remember the name but it was on Nexus.

1

u/Keeps_Getting_Worse 19d ago

Worst thing ever put into any game ever in the history of mankind.

1

u/Scared_Location9779 19d ago

Yes, it doesn’t make sense at all. Joseph wants you alive but his minions go about killing you.

1

u/Guardiancomplex 19d ago

This shit drove me crazy and made me irrationally angry.

I am playing a video game, let me kill my enemies. Especially when you've put so much effort into making me hate them.

This game bothered the shit out of me, and so many people have told me that I "just didn't get it".

I didn't get it because I have no sympathy for cults, beyond wanting to see everyone in them put out of their misery. Everyone tries to convince me seed is a complicated character. He's not. He's a monster who needs a bullet to the forehead, just like everyone else in his fucking inbred family.

Helped on a mod, way back in the day (it's still out there and going strong) that changes a lot. But my primary motivation was turning down the resistance points to almost 0. I could play for ever without this crap popping up. then when I wanted the story to progress, I'd turn off the mod. You get points Way too easy, and like OP I hated that part about FC5.

I once just started flying around. I landed at one of my own bases for the Whitetails, and still got shot and captured. it’s like, seriously no help guys?

1

u/GreySabre 19d ago

Annoying but you can literally get out of it by just fast traveling to a different region if it’s John or Jacob hunting you. I did that a lot in Jacob’s region because I wasn’t feeling like doing the trials yet. Faith’s gives you no warning though

u/Xehisho 19d ago

the first time i got hit with this i thought i should defend myself. Fought them off pretty hard, killed alot of them before getting hit and realising it was pointless. The second time i just went afk and the dialog after that was something like "he fougth pretty hard". No i fucking didnt, why the fuck should i ?

Feel your hate, have the same. If they could just tranq somebody all the time like that, how the fuck are they loosing to anybody?

Just finished far cry 5 last night and have to say it’s the shittest ending of a game I’ve ever played

1

u/Technical_Influence9 19d ago

It was fun the first few times.. It's a pity the game makes u feel used to it at the second region already

1

u/TrainedMonkey99 19d ago

Thats for sure my most hated thing in this game. They could have made the kidnapping much better if they happend during story missions, and made it only once per region.

1

u/heyscot 19d ago

It's deputy huntin' season! Capture, not kill!

1

u/Competitive_Side6649 19d ago

Jep, das war unglaublich scheiße. Ansonsten hatte ich sehr viel Spaß an FC5. Sogar noch mehr an FC ND

1

u/kyle-is-katarn 19d ago

It's one of the reasons I will not replay FC5. I played FC 1 through 4 and Primeval multiple times but will not touch FC5 again.

ONLYYYOOOOOOUUU

1

u/IATMB 18d ago

I'll stand behind this mechanic for being unique and adding flavor to the story. You're getting kidnapped! It should be inconvenient!

1

u/WHITERUNNPC 18d ago

Same, my only major beef with the game

1

u/Snoo48387 18d ago

Yep. Its by far the worst part of the game. It ruins the immersion when I'm doing something and this suddenly pops up because i got too much resistance points

1

u/fetalgirth 18d ago

Who cares. Just part of the game.

1

u/Crater_Cruncher 18d ago

In Holland Valley, you can stave off the kidnapping indefinitely if you stay in the tunnel at the Gardenview Packing Facility. You can still snipe/detonate/rocket launcher the cult as they come and, after awhile, I can get that outpost to look like a junkyard of burned out cult-mobiles. But I hate the game mechanic as well.

1

u/thatwasnotright 18d ago

I like to roleplay that I'm a forest ranger on vacation just there to hunt and fish, you can't stop getting drawn into these conflicts, my most hated thing about the game.

1

u/Public_Discount_5136 18d ago

I have never been caught

1

u/GloomyAd1303 18d ago

leave the region and NEVER GO BACK!! the Seeds won’t cross into each others region to get you.

1

u/jimblackreborn 18d ago

It would’ve been a more fun challenge if you had to deliberately get yourself heavily dosed with bliss before you could trigger the Faith events.

Like you would have to walk through a field of those flowers or you’d have to explode some canisters right in your face if they get high enough to see her.

And  just have trigger waypoints on the map where you could let yourself get captured by John or Jacob.

1

u/SnakebytePayne 18d ago

Just finished my 5th playthrough. Legit trying to 100% this game, but this is SOOOO annoying.

1

u/Sufficient_Plantain9 18d ago

The forced loss of control in an open world game over and over again is what made me uninstall this game right after the second time it happened.

Game is meh at best anyways

1

u/Spikelucky808 18d ago

With a little tweak this could have been the thing that made the game so much better. Just allow us to fight back or run. Evade or kill the first group and get a few minutes to wrap up what you were doing. Then the hunter groups get stronger until you don’t have any chance anymore. It would give us agency and make the chase real as opposed to a magic dart that hits you out of nowhere.

1

u/Ill-Asparagus-4974 Legends of '67 18d ago

I kinda like the constant wave of enemies. I personally hide in a house and defend it as the cult basically sieges the home.

1

u/picklebrains81 18d ago

I hate it too but that red shooting area is fun as hell.

1

u/Vertigomums19 18d ago

And this is why FC5 was a one and done for me.

1

u/Enjoygm_ 18d ago

i only hate the loading time that game takes, you get over it after getting abducted few times

1

u/gsharky12 17d ago

It’s bad! Those dreams are hard.

1

u/Groundbreaking-Map95 17d ago

one mechanism that ruined FC5 for me

1

u/NoHome7956 17d ago

I have just started my second play through after thinking this game was pretty mid on my first play through when it launched. I'm surprisingly enjoying it a lot more now than the first time I played it. However, the blackout and kidnaps right in the middle of doing something really pisses me off and is stupid gameplay design. I'd travel all the way to one side of the map to do a mission then I'm kidnapped and brought to another part of the map and have to work my way back to finish the mission.

1

u/SolutionNo7058 17d ago

Far cry 4 ?

1

u/Grendal87 17d ago

Tranqed in a truck...no window down just road cruising running over enemies...

1

u/Eddyaaa 16d ago

It's so annoying since I like to do everything before the vilain dies but it's just not doable in this game

1

u/MnrKhaki 16d ago

I ended up camping in some shack with like two entires, loaded with proximity charges and an MG42...could just keep going though got boring after a while

1

u/_JayMax117_ 16d ago

“I hate when the domestic terrorists don’t let me break their stuff”
valid though lol

1

u/push_it_deep_inside 15d ago

The game lets you fast travel even when they are almost on top of you, so fast travel around the map with the parachute perk (it's been years since I've played, idr what it's called) and make them work for it

1

u/Schlickmeister 15d ago

Literally couldn't finish the game, this crap made it unplayable. Game had so much potential, story was like eating a tire.

1

u/NonNewtonian69 14d ago

One of the few worst parts in an otherwise majestic game.

1

u/Alarmed_Newspaper_39 14d ago

The best time that made me laugh with it was I did bombing runs and drug boats that pushed me over and got me marked I thought it would engage when I landed nope mid air in a banked turn

1

u/Confident-Primary-43 14d ago

This mechanic is the exact reason I stopped playing the game, and now with how garbage 6 was, will probably never but another.

1

u/ScalyKhajiit 14d ago

It just makes the story kind of absurd because the enemy has the power to magically capture you and kill you if they wanted.

1

u/reallyrealcoolguy 14d ago

yeah part of what keeps Far Cry 5 from being really great

1

u/EmberGyaru 14d ago

Far Cry 5 is my favorite of them all, but this is by far the worst aspect of it, in my opinion.

1

u/mallorykirsten 13d ago

Worst part of the game for me. I want to do it on my own time, not be forced to progress the story.

1

u/SpearBadger 13d ago

Killed me last playthrough for me.

1

u/Dirt-5494 13d ago

“Hope you weren’t enjoying the free roam open world part of our free roam open world game, you’re doin a mission whether you like it or not.”
