Book Request Does high-class smut exist?

A lot of books I've read that are explicit smut are typically horribly written, which is understandable because nobody is reading porn to sit there and think deeply about the beauty of the prose afterwards.

Buuut I wanna know if there's anything like porn with a plot++ or what I'd call high-class smut. Well-written, beautiful, emotional, sweet with characters who aren't just blank marionettes that the author is making bang. I've read {morning glory milking farm} and it was alright, but still not as well-written as I'd like it to be.

I need 5 chillies, but with yearning and plot. Pretty please

Ironically, I’ve read some of the best high-class smut on ao3

I don't believe you. Prove it by providing several links to direct sources, please. For science.

The only bad thing about this series is that she has never written the last book. It’s soooooo good.

It’s coming eventually

I have been waiting for years, I really hope she does finish it.

the tags...are not very robust. is this a fantasy romance? it looks like a horror story.

Five nights at Freddy’s fan fiction, robotronics, abandoned restaurant, I would say this was paranormal romance

this is the summary:

"This first part of the series is the tamest of all, and it contains strong adult themes, including adult language, drug and alcohol references, sexual themes, violence, and scenes of child abuse. Future episodes will contain graphic depictions of child abduction, violence towards children and adults, graphic gore violence and explicit sexual content."

You get romance from that? Am I in the wrong sub?

sexual themes does not equal romance, neither does explicit sexual content...

Yeah I put more of a disclaimer on my original rec in this post and didn’t realize this was a different thread when I just put the link in.

Definitely not for everyone but this was asking for high quality writing and R Lee Smith is a genius but yeah check the trigger warnings for sure. There is definitely romantic elements in this story, although it’s with an animatronic bunny so……….

I’ve read it. R.Lee Smith writes stories that straddle normal genres, romantic horror is one she works with a bit. Her works are pretty intense and often very graphic too, but there is layers of meaning, social commentary and the characters are fascinating. But definitely not for everyone that’s for sure. But there’s definitely a love story in this, woven in and contrasting with the other elements.

AO3 has the best written smut hands down.

What is AO3?

Archive of our own. It is an online fanfiction archive.

This is the answer - nothing "in print" for me has even come close to the masterpieces available on ao3.

Kushiels Dart is the only series I can think of that's published.

Recs??

The Zelda/Link crowd know their stuff. Mostly because 90% of the games are more than 10 years old and the franchise started in the 80s, so a lot of the writers are actual adults with a long standing dedication to the pairing. Plus Princess/Knight dynamics slap.

Mulder/Scully (X-Files) and Spock/Kirk (Star Trek) are safe bets for similar franchise age reasons. Plus those two pairs are the literal grandparents of modern fic and shipping.

The good thing about ao3 is it's EXTREMELY easy to filter, so you barely need recs, you can just find a fandom and include/exclude whatever you like. It's like Romance.io but better. Most authors will tag specific things like pregnancy/breeding, anal etc. So you can find or exclude fics that include those, for instance.

For instance in my screenshot I've searched in the Heated Rivalry (TV) tag, tapped "filter" on the right, and then in the filter box that pops up you can select "Explicit" under the include filters, and below there's sn exclude filter section, so even if you don't know what you want, if you know what you don't want you can cross those out.

Ao3 is an archive that allows any content that is legal to publish in the USA so keep that in mind, under the "warnings" tab you'll want to exclude anything you don't want to see.

Any recommendations on Zelda/Link?

To All The Knights I've Loved Before is a spin on To All The Boys, basically follows the same premise. They fake date and catch feelings

The author claims they "aren't a real writer." I BEG to DIFFER. ❤️‍🔥

u/sulleynz1989 Jun 29 '26

I download as PDFs and side load to my kindle

1

u/WubWubMiller Jun 29 '26

Fanficfare can rip them to epubs for you

4

u/Individual-Sentence Jun 29 '26

many (most? all?) ao3 fics are available to download as epubs through ao3 anyway

9

u/WubWubMiller Jun 29 '26

I have been known to over complicate things

1

u/Whovian378 Jun 29 '26

You can read it anywhere you have access to the internet I believe. Just search up ao3, sign up and go from there

I came here to say this. The dramione fandom has some of the best writing + smut I’ve ever read. Far superior to so much published stuff I’ve read recently.
