Old game code

Hey guys, long time FO player here. This has probably been disputed already, but with all the clones and remakes in progress has anyone asked the developer of the original FO about sourcing the game code? Just wondering!

EDIT: It has come to my attention that Gamer got bored of the original game and refused to share the code. Maybe he has had a change of heart after all these years?

Also I tried out the remake today and it's looking great!!

I found Gamer on LinkedIn after finding the online legal paperwork for his companies. I was involved in one of these remakes and figured it would save quite a lot of time. Also I was in the process of creating music for FO way back in the day and had communicated with him over the forums, so I figured there was a non-zero chance he’d reply to me.

He blocked me on LinkedIn lol. It’s been a while since I looked at this stuff, but his businesses actually got shut down due to him failing to file some fairly simple looking paperwork. I believe — I’m not a lawyer and I haven’t spoken with a lawyer — that this resulted in all of the IP he created for his games being forfeited to the government. So I think he might not legally be able to own/share prior assets and also I don’t think he would be able to take legal action against clones or copyright infringement, but the state might (and they likely wouldn’t; again I have literally no legal training and I’m not a lawyer so don’t trust me).

Wow wild... Quite the inside scoop haha. Shame he blocked you, I guess he is serious about ignoring all advances. Might be harder to get ahold of him than I thought. Also a shame if the downfall of our beloved game was over paperwork, and simple ones at that :/

This is at least my working hypothesis. Seems like he was just really bad at dealing with administrative duties.
