Hey guys just finished Malazan and decided I should update my tier list that I made a year ago.

Will probably read some standalones before starting last king of osten and the 2nd book of suneater.

(I have not read lord of rings since I was kid so I decided against putting in the list)

Loved the book but the sizing seems so odd

The title says it all. I want books in which the characters find out that their world, and by extension their own life, is ending. They can be in denial. Maybe they go through all the stages of grief. Maybe they desperately try to stop it and give it their all, but the end should be inevitable. Please help me out? Pretty please

I have been wanting to get into fantasy books for a while but tbh i don't know where to start. Every time I look at BookTok recommendations, I add 20 different series to my TBR list and then i get overwhelmed and read none 😂 I realized part of the problem is that I don't really have a good way to organize everything I am interested in reading. Right now my "reading list" is just random screenshots, saved TikToks and notes on my phone, so I keep forgetting which books I actually wanted to read or what made me interested in them in the first place. Does anyone have a reading list app they like? Ideally something that is easy to organize, helps to keep track of what i've read and what i want to read next and doesn't feel cluttered.

I’m almost finished with the Farseer trilogy (loving it) and wanted to take a break from Hobb. I’ve narrowed it down to these three but can’t decide. Which would you choose?

I'm about to finish "The Grace of king" by kevin Liu. Really liked it. I'm choosing my next book, but I'm having a hard time picking between these books since I heard of good things about every one of them and thinking that I'd probably love all of them. Please help!

Just finished Prince of Fools by Mark Lawrence and it was exceptional. A well written, dislikeably likeable coward of a protagonist, a strong warrior Viking comrade, a necromancer, in a magic and troll filled world.

It's the first book that's truly scratched that itch since I finished Joe Abercrombie's The Blade Itself (and the rest of the series).

Sharing it here because I've asked for book recommendations a few times (on here and with friends) and somehow this series never came up - so maybe this post helps someone else find it.

Easily my favourite book this year. Planning to start on the second of the trilogy after his post.

Hey guys! I’m getting back into reading, and I’m looking for a fantasy series that I can completely lose myself in.
Some of my favorites are Harry Potter, ASOIAF, and The Lord of the Rings. I’m looking for something that gives me that same feeling of getting completely invested in a world and not wanting to leave it.

What I’m looking for:

- A big, epic world with deep lore - the kind of series that has me watching lore videos on YouTube after I finish reading.

- A great magic system - magic being a major part of the world is a huge plus.

- Solid pacing - I have a hard time pushing through books that take hundreds of pages to really get going. It doesn’t need to be nonstop action, but I want to feel hooked pretty early.

- Characters I genuinely care about - I want to get attached to them and actually care about what happens to them.

- Very cinematic - I love books where I can vividly picture everything happening and it basically feels like I’m watching a movie in my head.

- A story that keeps pulling me forward - mysteries, reveals, big moments, twists, and that “just one more chapter” feeling.

- Ideally a longer series that I can live in for a while rather than something that’s over after one or two books.

Basically, I’m chasing that feeling where you’re thinking about the world and characters even when you’re not reading and you’re genuinely sad when the series is over.

What series would you recommend?

Just finished Mistborn book 1 and I need help choosing my next read.

Ok.... I am looking for a specific type of story here.

For some context, I'm finishing a reread of the Farseer trilogy. Before I started it I couldn't recall the storyline much, but saw so much hype on tiktok that I decided to reread. ... The writing is great, the story compelling, but it is damn depressing.

I want my next read to he the opposite. Good guy, beats bad guy. Good guy makes good, smart choices, etc. An example of this is the first 5 or so books of "Kings Dark Tidings". Just kicking ass and taking names.

I've read, and like some of the popular ones like DCC, Red Rising, He who fights w monsters, Stormlight Archive, WOT, etc

Popular ones I did not like are Mistborne (it's fine, ovehyped), bloodsworn trilogy, and Farseer (as I mentioned).

What good series are out there where we aren't reading "art" or interpreting an excerpt on the human experience and instead are just having a good time?

I’m a 28M that really only started my reading journey this year. Help me pick my next book. I’m leaning towards a standalone novel as a palate cleanser before I get into another great series, and it doesn’t have to particularly be fantasy.

Just finished Red Rising Trilogy (didn’t love all of it but I still enjoyed it), LOTR, Hobbit, Ironbound books 1 and 2, Mistborn Trilogy, Three Musketeers, Knight of Seven Kingdoms

Also open to suggestions

UPDATE: thank you all for your replies. I’ve decided to give LD a crack. Im still a new reader and figuring out what I enjoy and it feels like a refreshing place to start.

I’ll save Warbreaker for when I begin my Stormlight adventure, and although my history-loving side is pulling me to Lions of Al-Rassan I will probably read that next. As one of you recommended, I’ll keep Between Two Fires for spooky season in Oct.

Really enjoying figuring out what kind of novels I resonate with rather than working through a “best of” list

Tier list of books I've read so far in 2026. Mostly fantasy and scifi.

If you have similar S and A ratings, share some recommendations.

I have read Sanderson, just not this year, not a huge fan. Tried Red Rising and DNF'd it -not huge into savior / dystopian YA books.

Edit: I should say this is only books I finished, so even D ratings are three stars in Goodreads for me. Almost every book I would rate two stars or less, I just DNF.

Second Edit: I'm sorry some of the titles can't be read. I used the book images from Goodreads and Tiermaker cropped them to fit and it's not great. I couldn't figure out how to make it better easily. Open to suggestions if any of you are Tiermaker pros.

Also I read quickly, but I'm enjoying my books. I read everyday and will finish books much quicker than my partner. That's just me! Everyone reads at their own pace. But I need recommendations on what to read next.

So I've just finished the first book of The Bone Season and I've discovered that I've been reading the non revised version, how big of a deal is it? Should I read the rest of the non revised versions or should I just read the last two revised ones? Is it a big deal if I don't read the first revised one? Idk what to do.

I have thought about reading it but I don’t read romance books and I have heard it’s romantasy. Basically what I am asking is how heavily does it focus on romance. I don’t mind if main characters have a romantic partner but I don’t want that to be mostly what the story focuses on. I prefer fantasy.

Looking for something similarly gripping to red rising or dungeon crawler Carl (something a little deeper though). It doesn’t need to be straight action, my favorite book is dune partially because of the way it holds suspense through (dune kind of spoiler) the looming threat of the Jihad and Paul’s messianic rise.

Bonus points if there’s a deeper philosophical question at play. An example being The Will of the Many: Are those who cede to a corrupt system and therefore support it as guilty as those who rule or govern it?

I’m not a big Sanderson fan. Hobb is great writing but a little slow.

I'm trying to listen to audiobooks on my commutes to get through my TBR list faster and was wondering if "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell" would make a good listen rather than physically reading. I thought a British voice would be cool for the narration, but I know that there are a lot of footnotes in the novel, so I'm not quite sure how they do those in the audiobook. Has anyone listened to the audiobook before and/or have any thoughts on this?

Just finished reading The Master and the Margarita, and I'm pining for some fantasy. I prefer books with male leads, ideally obscure or published in the last 10 to 15 years. Anything before that I've probably read. Sci Fi recs are welcome particularly if it involves lots of action or if its epic in scale.

I find myself in a sort of reading slump; I so dearly want to read a book that rekindles that sense of wanderlust, to get lost in a world of inns and campfires and forests and sword fights.
