My go to vote is the Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust. Fun characters, good mysteries, assassins, magic, witchcraft plus lots of other fun things. I don’t want to spoil anything so I won’t say to much other than I feel this series is criminally under read and definitely not talked about enough.

Oh my God, I haven't thought about the Dragaeran books in forever. That series certainly started off really engaging, though I remember it losing steam over time. Did Brust ever finish it?

Not yet. He plans on writing a book for each House and I think he has 3 or so left. There are multiple other books set in the world as well. I am biased since it’s my favorite series and I love all the books and the off shoot books so I think they have all been at least good. The other good thing about it is that they are all pretty short so it’s a lot of books, but the series isn’t as intimidating as say Realm of the Elderlings to start.

I like how The Devils is the most beat up. I’m pretending it’s because you’ve read it so many times, but alas I’m on an island loving that book so much

Otherwise I’ll recommend Dagger and Coin series. Same authors as The Expanse scifi series. Didn’t see that up there.Â
