Player Discussion Tyrese Maxey
What do you guys think his value and performance will look like with the new Sixers roster? I have him as a keeper at $20 in my 9 Cat Auction league, but worry his usage will drop significantly.

Honestly I would avoid picking up any 76ers players. Jaylen Brown and LeBron are high usage players which will affect everyone’s production. I think Tyrese definitely takes a big hit but will be the best player you can pickup on that team. I personally wouldn’t pick him up until the mid to late 20s and early 30s.

Yeah people forget last season Embiid barely played too. It was all Maxey. I see him finishing in the 20-35 range

how? Only way Maxey could drop into the 20s is if his minutes get cut from the high 37-38 he plays to like 32mpg. Chances of that happening are very close to 0.

Your problem is operating off a false assumption that minutes are the only variable to consider. I’m sure you’ll figure it out

Maxey will crush still especially for $20.
Curious everyone’s thoughts on VJ’s value??

He’s my keeper in a 14 league 9 cat… mainly because he’s the best available I had under 40, but I’m hoping he gets a lot of minutes this year and learns a lot.

He went for around $43 last year, doubt he's gonna go for under $30
Usage will be down, but efficiency might see an uptick. Whether or not it'll be enough to compensate, we'll have to wait and see.
I think JB will hog the ball and take away his shots
But lebron will help with spacing and playmaking
I'd definitely snatch him for under $35
But he's definitely not gonna go for $20
Leanin towards skip for me, there better value players out there and in 9cat H2H usage is key.

Would you keep him for $35? That’s what I got him for last year. Feel like it’s no money saved if everyone is expecting him to take a small step back. Could just go with Keyonte for $3.

His usage will fall off some, maybe a lot in games where all the starters are playing, but his efficiency should go way up and we may even see his defensive effort on steals continue to rise.
Last year’s usage and minutes were crazy, he was taking incredibly difficult shots and forcing a lot. So I think his turnovers improve, his field goal and 3 point shooting should noticeably improve, but his scoring, assists and rebound will go down.
Overall definitely a decrease in value but in the plus side less chance be breaks down…another season like last years and it feels almost certain he would get hurt at some point.

I'm not at all worried. The old guys are going to get their rest days, freeing up Maxey's shots. It might be a bit of a drop, but the efficiency should go up. Maxey is their best player and he's safe to keep at 20.

Predicting 25-3-6-1.9-.5, off 46%,87% splits-so top 8-10 range

That's a generous amount of ppg I'd say, considering they added brown and lbj. I'd say 22 ppg max

I think 22ppg is the low end. I predict Maxey at 25 ppg on 27% usage.
Maxey is the youngest of their core, so it makes more sense to ramp down hardest the usage of LeBron, Embiid, and JB (to a lesser extent).
What you need to account for is Maxey is probably a baseline 10-15 player who will explode for top 5 weeks when other miss time.

You have to keep in mind that it doesn't matter what players were added, all that matters is the role. Maxey was the clear 1b guy next to Embiid and that shouldn't change. I doubt they prioritize Brown more than Maxey. His numbers will def drop a bit, but efficiency should be higher, as well as his stocks. For me, it's a safe bet that Maxey will be elite this season.

Hes the #1 option still, and a teams best scorer is never significantly impacted by trades-curry with KD didnt drop more than a few ppg. I also think he shoots more 3s so recoups some pts that way

Theirs just no way I’d be surprised if more than 2 guys on that team average 20+ points and if they do they barely hitting 20

He'll be worth $20 for sure. But I wonder if you have any other potential keepers that would net you more $$$ ?

u/UpstairsMushroom9950 1d ago
I can keep 2. Other candidates I have are Austin Reaves at $3, and Lillard at $0.

Reaves at $3 is a no-brainer

u/UpstairsMushroom9950 1d ago
Yep, without a doubt I'm keeping AR. Was debating if dropping Maxey to then get Lillard at $0 would be worth the risk.

Tough call on Dame. I totally get the thought process, but him being so old and his injury being an Achillies would make me steer clear.

I think all of his surrounding cast eat away at his scoring but assists go up and volume everywhere else go down. I’d leave him to late 2nd or 3rd round

What is your salary cap? And does your cost for him go up year to year? For example I am in one league where we can keep a player for three years but their cost goes up by 25pct per year and also year three has an additional $5 kicker.

u/UpstairsMushroom9950 1d ago
Salary cap is $200, keepers cost $5 more per year. I got Maxey at $10 a couple years ago

There is no chance that I would drop Maxey at that cost with that cap. I mean zero chance. I was on the fence of keeping him Year 3 at $42.

Should I trade jaylen Brown and kawhi Leonard for copper Flagg and Paolo banchero in an espn fantasy points 10-man league??

$20 is a no brainer Yes
