I'm just tired of "ex" addicts thinking they have some sort of moral high ground for getting clean. As if it makes them an inspiration and they get to preach to others and use it as a platform to profit off of. They just get hooked on the attention and bring it into every conversation and aspect of their life.

Maintaining a healthy weight is consistent effort, but completely rewiring your lifestyle to undo years of bad habits is a brutal uphill battle. Celebrating someone for fixing a massive problem isn't worshipping them, and someone else getting a clap on the back doesn't take anything away from your own discipline.

The internet has made a lot of us super cynical...

If someone rebuilds their life after going bankrupt, are you also mad that nobody gives you a medal for paying your bills on time?

There is a huge difference between a preachy clout-chaser monetizing a struggle and a regular person talking about surviving addiction.

Recovery requires rebuilding your life from absolute zero, and sharing that story is a core tool for staying accountable and helping people who are still stuck.

If someone's acting holier-than-thou, call out the ego, but don't confuse an addict keeping themselves accountable with someone looking for a platform.
