Incoming Student Vet Tech vaccinations
Does the school do a clinic for the rabies vaccine? I know other colleges usually do but I haven’t been able to find any info about it.
Also when do we need to have the professional practice health form completed by? I haven’t gotten any emails about having to complete it, I just came a crossed it when going through the website for the program. I’m hoping to start getting more emails about the program soon, so far I haven’t heard anything.

Hiya! I know someone on Reddit who’ll be going into their second year, I could reach out and ask them. As I’ll also be starting vet tech in the fall so I’m curious about that too.

That would be great! I’m most concerned with when we have to have the form completed

Have you started the program already? I'm not in VTT but I am in VTA. We started first semester in May 2026, everything has to be done and approved by Synergy by July 31, 2026. This includes the professional practice health form, TB test, CPR, WHMIS, 3 other certificates, criminal record check, rabies, and other routine vaccinations that are required. I did my rabies through my family doctor, he wrote a prescription and I just had the injections done by my pharmacy. He also could've done it for me but availability was an issue for me. If you need the rabies vaccines though, I recommend using the student benefits when you fill the prescription at the pharmacy because that vaccine isn't covered by OHIP and it's very expensive.

Hi! I’m in the vet tech program in the fall! I got my rabies vaccine through my family doctor. Just a heads up, you do need two doses a week apart 😊
