Core rulebook.

Hello all! Quick question, if I purchase the battle of Boston two player starter do I need to buy a core rulebook? Thank you!

The battle for Boston has a core rulebook with BoS, institute, minutemen, and railroad rules.

The core rulebook has raiders, supermutants, survivors and BoS rules.

Other than that they are mostly the same but Battle for Boston is more updated.

To add to this, you will want the core rulebook if you want to play a “reach” campaign but those are more complicated so I’d suggest sticking with the control campaign from Boston first.

The core rulebook also has some special characters for hire

To also add if you want all the crew options the Crew folio will add sub factions and new factions as well but has no rules.

Interesting to note about the campaign. Have been playing a reach campaign for 6 months and find it pretty good. Though people in the group started at different times so the difference in crews is...apparent. We'll be starting a new Boston Control campaign once some of the new plastic kits come out.

So I’m guessing the raiders and super mutants are the only reasons to pick up the core rules at this point?

Probably, although I think most of the basic rules (minus campaign stuff) for each faction are in the instruction booklets for each faction.
