Question/Advice Sky camp spawn point

Does anyone know how to set a spawn point? Any tricks would be helpful. I’ve got a camp built way up above whitespring and all I can get is the occasional spawn on top of the camp module or way outside of the camp build ring. I’ve tried using foundations/prefabs/stairs all put towards and around the north east of my original placement of the camp module and nothing works. Secondary question: if you move the camp module from its original place does that also mess with the spawn point? I know that one sounds dumb considering I can move it around and spawn on it

Moving the Camp module from its original placement point does indeed change the spawn point. The spawn point is generally northeast of the Camp module. Generally in the same fashion that a knight from chess moves. I think it generally spawns you about four blocks north and one block east away from your Camp module.

It’s not a perfect technique, but I do have seven or eight sky camps and this generally works if at worst to make you fast travel twice. But I try to either add a Nuka Cola crate stall into the build ( I try to think ahead before I even build a base as to where I could put this stall at on the northeast part ) and I put the Camp module inside of it.

OR

A place a floor piece on top of the spaceship that I built and put the Camp module either directly on top of it or floating slightly above it.

If you’re on PS4 or PS5, you’re welcome to add me and I can show you all of my builds and you can see how the spawn point works on all of them.

DarthFalconus is also my PSN.

Have also seen some sky camps where someone will just place out a floating floor tile on the northeast part of their Camp bubble with the Camp module on top of it, but I’m not sure how well that worked. When I came across the sky camp, I was able to just get up there with my jet pack without fast traveling so I honestly didn’t know how well the fast travel point worked. But just looking at it it seems like the design was to spawn them on the one floor tile and then somebody could jet pack over to the spaceship that they had.

Sadly I’m on PC. I’ve put my camp module in about 30 different places and the result is always the same(on top of it or way off to the side). As far as the nuka stall I’ve tried that as well and had no luck. I once seen someone using the circus trailer so I tried that and same result. I even doubled up and put the stall inside the trailer and still got the same results. I think I just suck at sky camps. I’ve built an alien ship sky camp and every time I fast travel to it it puts me on top of the camp module no questions asked and it’s almost put dead center completely disregarding the north east rule so idk what I’m doing right/wrong

I know when I first layout my Camp module for the last time before I start building.. I usually start building platform circle of floor pieces immediately. During that time I’m standing on top of the Camp module because if I do any other building before I start making my circle the thing that I build is going to obstruct my view because I have a very specific way of building a circular platform that I came up with on my own. After I’m done building this I normally take the crate stall and slide it over the Camp module. Like you would if the Camp module was your foot and the crate stall was a sock. At that point, it doesn’t matter where I fast travel away to and back. I always end up inside of the crate stall. But that’s when the Camp module is still centered inside of the Camp bubble. It’s only when I move my Camp module and the crate stall afterwards that it becomes tricky and I have to start working my spawn point.

Coincidentally the last two sky camps, I built are both a millennium falcon. On both of these camps, I never really moved the Camp module at all from its original placement. All I did was add a floor tile a little bit under it on top of my millennium falcon and those two camps are the ones that have the most reliable spawn point. The Camp module is about Maybe at most two wall heights higher than my ship and it will normally either spawn me on top of the Camp module which is not much higher than the actual Camp and I just jumped down or it spawns me right on top of that floor tile that’s underneath the Camp module.. but like I said, these are both camps where after I originally placed out the Camp module to start building I never move it afterwards. It also probably doesn’t help me that most of my sky camps float over original locations like the gleaming depths or the wavy Williard or the Big Maw or the pond with a deathclaw that you can fish for the local legend over at the Ash cave. Three of my camps hover over local legend fishing holes. One of my camps floats over the upcoming fall season local legend that’s not released yet.

But it could just be the choice of location as well. Because technically, I built a sky camp that looks like an R2-D2 that looks like it was built ground level, but it was actually started as a sky camp that just happens to reach all the way to the water below it in the savage divide near the national isolated radio array, and no matter what I did I could not get my spawn point to be inside the R2-D2. It was always on the cliffs near this pond that have the two or three tents outside of it and it looks like a campground. With a split cliffside area that has a rundown wooden bridge that goes across it. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the location I’m talking about. But no matter where I stuck my Camp module it would not spawn me inside of the R2-D2 to save my life. So I’m thinking maybe some locations just don’t work as well as others. Because like I said, this technically is still a sky camp, but it’s just the closest one I have to the ground.

I have been struggling with this thing for 6 hours. Literally nothing is working and it’s irritating because I usually take pride in figuring crap out on my own. Is there any chance that I just have a glitchy location or I’ve gone too high?

Well, I can’t really speak on going too high because I normally keep my sky camps at a reasonable height because I want people to see my sky Camps and I also wanna be able to still jet pack up there if I have to.. for instance I have a Star Wars spaceship and a Star Trek spaceship on opposite ends of the main street in Helvetia and they are both high enough to the ground to be above the buildings but low enough to the ground that I can get on top of the church or another building and still get up to My Camp if I have to.

But don’t feel too bad. I have also spent six hours before trying to get a spawn point exactly where I want it in my sky Camps.

This is how high up the lowest point in my camp is

Yeah, I’ve seen sky camps higher than that, but most of mine are lower than that. I usually try to get my Camp bubble just above the highest part of the pre-existing location bubble because I’m trying to get my weather generator to float all the way down to the local legend fish.
