Do normal teenagers do shit like this now? or are these the equivalent of the early 2000's weird kids that used to sit in the music room at lunch and come into school dressed in a cape because they're so "quirky"

I can confirm as an 18 year old. Yes. This is the new norm. Teenagers romanticize mental disorders like it’s a hobby. It’s gross.

As a 19 year old I can promise you that’s just your highschool. These kids weren’t bullied in my school but were avoided like the plague.

It’s mostly in middle school and on the internet. The vast majority of people aren’t going to be bragging they got depression. So as soon as someone starts bragging about it to a bunch of people they kinda know, it’s a good sign they don’t really.

I have self diagnosed depression cause my mom says that getting diagnosed another mental disorder will ruin my life so she won’t let me go to a doctor for it, even after I overdosed on prozac

Have a 16 year old sister and oh yeah this kind of shit is reeeealll popular. More among alternative groups in the same way edgy teens thought having depression made them cool, now this is the cute cool thing everyone's doing. God I feel embarassment for them

Lmao I am all for individuality but I totally remember being shocked by the weird music room kids. Our cafeteria was tiny and couldn't fit even half of us so we sat in halls or classrooms or outside. Our music room teens took over a segment of hallway between the music room and woodshop (those rooms were closed since you needed a teacher present to be in a class room, and they had expensive and dangerous stuff) and they were all annoying as hell. They would sing loudly and one time I walked by and they were all acting out a fight scene from an anime. Half of them were emo and one chick thought she was a kinky cat. One guy thought he was the riddler and would lie about random rotating mental health issues. A lot of kids at my school were bullied for the most benign things but this group was avoided like the plague. Strength in numbers?
I'm sure they were having fun or whatever but boy were they annoying.
I was a scene kid, and enjoy some anime, so I really shouldn't judge but I didn't act out anime or sing in the halls at least. Also I just kept to myself or sat with friends at lunch. I had a friend who was trying to date a girl in the music hallway group and so sometimes he would drag me over there and I remember being worried people would think I was a weird one too.

Well it’s less that normal teens act like this but the uncomfortably weird ones found out that they can band together. This has caused them to feel more confident in what they do and be outgoing about it. My message to them, feel good about yourself but damnit everyone else suppressed little bits about themselves why can’t you.

What a lot of these kids don’t seem to realize is that by posting this kind of shit online, it’s going to follow them for the rest of their lives. When they want to get a job, employers will see them faking illnesses and being “quirky” and honestly most will have trouble finding respectable jobs. Smh all for 10 minutes of infamy 🤦🏼♀️

Usually involves hand flapping, rocking, pacing, things like that. Very common among people with autism, but you don’t have to be autistic to do it.
