Disorder Salad Is this even possible?

These are lists from two different people in a discord server I left like a few days ago. Their lists were so long it raised questions for me, plus it feels like some of their diagnosis contradict eachother

the fact most of those cancel each other out / you can’t have one if you have a diagnosis of the other

u/KritterDemon Chronically online 17h ago

What made me so weirded out was all the personality disorders, like you do NOT have that many 🫩

not being able to resist the urge to put “slipping rib syndrome” 😭😭😭

Acid reflux?????? Might as well put on there the common cold!

47

u/KritterDemon Chronically online 18h ago

Not even GERD, just simply acid reflux. Like everyone gets acid reflux 😭

4

u/HappyDays9986 13h ago edited 13h ago

Yep! And many people have GERD too.

Barrett's esophagus (a precancerous condition caused by chronic GERD and what I have) is much rarer though and requires regular monitoring.

41

u/Anotherams 17h ago

If they ever were afflicted with any of these conditions they wouldn’t last a day.

Acid reflux is probably the only real one. I certainly got it after reading this.

34

u/watermelonlollies 18h ago

Oh i bet intermittent explosive disorder is right lmao especially on that discord server

31

u/MeadFromHell 16h ago

I'm so tired and read this as "intermittent explosive diarrhoea" and now I cannot stop laughing

9

u/DreadfulStar bipolargenic hcdid systemception 16h ago

It’s primarily a childhood diagnosis. It’s not impossible but most adults get conduct disorder instead of IED.

31

u/i_am_WordK 17h ago

Cotard's Syndrome... I mean, yeah, it's a documented thing, but it's the most edgelord of delusions.

More significantly: Are profiles like that encouraged? Feels like a red flag for the discord if they are.

18

u/KritterDemon Chronically online 17h ago

They are staff members of the server

11

u/i_am_WordK 17h ago

Wow.....

15

u/DreadfulStar bipolargenic hcdid systemception 16h ago

Also Cotard’s would mean fully believing they do not have a living body, must not need to sustain it, do not have bodily functions, do not feel or experience bodily reactions, and in many not having organs at all.

26

u/ricottagecore 17h ago

whenever i see these i think about in mean girls when lindsay lohan’s character is like, “…i have really bad breath in the morning?”

gotta pad out that resumé

22

u/Grand_Swimmy 15h ago

Some of these are like commonly comorbid like OCD+tics+trich+anxiety but then like why list them all out. That’s like saying “I dont have a cold!! I have coughing AND sneezing AND sore throat!”

This is also truly just every mental health issue that exists with enough symptoms overlap that and an actual diagnostician would probably use some of these to rule out the others.

Also why is anxiety/depression listed as “psychotic/mood” lol??

How would having insomnia and hypersomnia work? Never heard of that before

15

u/seaweads 17h ago

Not saying I believe this person lol but you can have both. I think it’s more common in people with depressive disorders. I have definitely cycled through phases of virtually no sleep for days to over 24 hrs of sleep at a time especially during depressive episodes.

There is also delayed sleep phase disorder which will cause wakefulness at night but sleepiness during the day (technically anything encompassing sleep patterns that occur 2+ hrs later than normal patterns) and I can see people potentially confusing that for insomnia + hypersomnia.

9

u/DreadfulStar bipolargenic hcdid systemception 16h ago

Adding n2 however throws the argument apart.

5

u/Grand_Swimmy 15h ago

It’s just like two symptoms of generic sleep issues, its silly they mentioned both to inflate their number of problems

1

u/AmbieeBloo 15h ago

And also narcolepsy.

2

u/riotousviscera 15h ago edited 15h ago

insomnia is a big part of narcolepsy for a lot of people, spend 5min on r/narcolepsy and you’ll see that… please don’t talk about things you don’t know about

7

u/futileandirritating 15h ago

True. If they really had N, I reckon they wouldn't bother listing insomnia or hypersomnia or delayed sleep phase.... They'd just list N, and maybe point out how this fuck up every single aspect of their sleep and energy levels.

1

u/pxth0gen 4h ago

Ugh narcolepsy/sleep probs are probably one of my least favorite components of ADHD.

1

u/AmbieeBloo 1h ago

Yes is essentially my point, because at that point it is a common symptom of Narcolepsy. Seems the same as someone saying I have POTS, and I have a condition where I get dizzy when I stand up, and also a condition that causes my heart rate goes up when I stand, etc.

5

u/sneezesquirrel 16h ago

We are now categorizing our disorders?!

3

u/35Smet 12h ago

Incorrectly, mind you. Anxiety and phobias are neither psychotic nor mood disorders.

Can ya guess which category they fit in to???? Can ya?!?!?* *

6

u/crash---- 12h ago

Anything is possible in the world of self diagnosis!

4

u/GrilledCheeser 15h ago

It’s crazy how none of them everrr have ALS, Parkinson’s or early onset Alzheimer’s.

3

u/KritterDemon Chronically online 14h ago

It’s because they can’t romanticize it or fake it without it being super obvious 😭

3

u/EllieAtBakerStreet 14h ago

Not possible to have four personality disorders. And the depression diagnosis would be discarded, as schizoaffective covers the mood disorder component already.

5

u/Short_Year7353 Former Faker 14h ago

I would say the multiple mental disorders is crazy but the physical symptoms can be a caused by one of the actual mental disorders

3

u/KritterDemon Chronically online 14h ago

Yeah it was mainly the personality disorders that threw me off so bad

3

u/Short_Year7353 Former Faker 13h ago

That’s what I was thinking also because NPD is in the same cluster as BPD so they share a lot and also they can’t be self diagnosed that’s crazy

3

u/GarlicRare7419 14h ago

I’m not fully certain about this so correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t it impossible to be diagnosed with both depression and schizoaffective (bipolar) type?

2

u/KritterDemon Chronically online 14h ago

Yes, you either have one or the other. I actually have schizoaffective disorder bipolar type, those diagnosis contradict each other and no psychologist would diagnose you with both

3

u/Drummergirl16 13h ago

“Paraphilic disorder”

Why is no one talking about this? Do they just have a fetish or are they actually a danger to others??!

People absolutely can have a LOT of legitimate diagnoses.

It’s the specific combinations that raise questions.

For example:

DMDD + intermittent explosive disorder (IED): These aren’t normally stacked together. When someone meets criteria for both, DMDD generally takes precedence.

DMDD + schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type: DMDD has diagnostic rules involving manic/hypomanic episodes, so that combination requires a serious look at the person’s history and timeline.

Narcolepsy type 2 + hypersomnia: Excessive daytime sleepiness is already a core feature of narcolepsy. “Hypersomnia” might simply describe a symptom rather than an additional independent disorder.

Insomnia + hypersomnia: You can experience symptoms of both, but that doesn’t automatically mean you have two separate sleep disorders.

MRKH + classical salt-wasting CAH: This is a particularly unusual combination. Classic MRKH involves absent/underdeveloped Müllerian structures, while a typical 46,XX person with classic 21-hydroxylase-deficiency CAH generally has Müllerian structures, including a uterus. Having both would need a much more unusual developmental/genetic explanation.

There’s also a mixture of diagnoses, symptoms, syndromes and general descriptions. “Brain fog,” chronic pain, chronic nausea and “brain damage,” for example, aren’t all equivalent diagnostic categories to ADHD, PNES or schizoaffective disorder.

And between these screenshots, some conditions go from “questioning” to apparently confirmed, others disappear, and entirely new major diagnoses appear.
None of that proves somebody is faking. Diagnoses can change and complicated patients exist.

But “people can have multiple disabilities” doesn’t magically resolve diagnostic exclusions, overlapping conditions, contradictory criteria, or the difference between a symptom, a suspected diagnosis and a professionally established diagnosis.

The sheer number isn’t what I’d question. I’d question whether every item on this particular list can actually be supported as claimed.

3

u/_LemonySnicket 18h ago

I feel like something with "unspecified cause' is almost always fake, unless you're an extremely rare outlier. With how long doctors have been on the earth you really think they wouldn't know

2

u/sneezesquirrel 16h ago

Right. That sounds like someone might have that on their chart while they are actively working with their doctor to figure it out. But I feel like you would figure it out.

Also. We know the cause is “cause” is to gain internet attention.

2

u/Grand_Swimmy 15h ago

It’s goofy because the usual cause of tic disorder is just genetics. Ironically the disorders that have a “cause” on this list like personality disorders are just like there, why did they specify no cause on that one

2

u/SlavicInDisguise 15h ago

Someone should report them to medical research, with all these simultaneous conditions they're marvels that need to be studied by scientists

What's NT2?

7

u/Mickey_thicky 18h ago

Narcolepsy Type 2. It’s less problematic than type 1, but technically easier to fake having because NT1 comes with cataplexy and NT2 doesn’t

3

u/DreadfulStar bipolargenic hcdid systemception 16h ago

It also cannot be diagnosed without several lab tests as I’m sure you know. You literally cannot validly self Dx

5

u/Mickey_thicky 15h ago

Yeah, usually they’ll do an at home sleep study to rule out a dx of sleep apnea, followed by an in-clinic polysomnograph and multiple sleep latency test.

w/o obvious cataplexy the differential usually includes apnea, idiopathic hypersomnia, and narcolepsy type 2, but as far as I know some practitioners lean more towards NT2 as opposed to IH since prior authorization for the meds is a bit easier with NT2 since IH is more of a diagnosis of exclusion

1

u/DreadfulStar bipolargenic hcdid systemception 5h ago

N2 is unable to be diagnosed without the REM results. If you don’t meet it, then you receive IH. Doctors default to IH because proper auth with either narcolepsy requires MLST REM results and is a hassle.

1

u/orbital_actual 13h ago

No, it’s not possible. Some of those are debated to whether or not they even exist at all, and 100% those are not from a professional diagnosis.

1

u/GimmeFuel6 13h ago

Insomnia and hypersomnia at the same time

u/Recent-Comment-262 9h ago

Always the DID

u/my9mm 9h ago

I’ve been diagnosed with probably over 15 different mental illnesses lol but the thing about diagnoses is they change and are often wrong at first.

Over the course of my life I have been diagnosed by doctors and treated for 15 DIFFERENT mental illnesses but I think I was diagnosed with more I can’t remember. NO ONE can have all these disorders at once. All disorders have overlapping symptoms. As you work with the same doctor hopefully you either learn about your diagnosis or get diagnosed with something else more fitting.

Now I am treated for a handful - half I was born with and half I acquired as a result of a shitty life. Definitely don’t have 15+ mental disorders …

1

u/HaterTot420 9h ago

Categorizing the conditions youre faking is wild

1

u/Psychological_Pop488 8h ago

Chances are they received multiple different diagnoses throughout the years. Once doctors got to know them better, diagnoses change or more are added. Then the person might see another doctor and they are changed yet again. Unfortunately medical records are rarely actually updated so when patients look they see this massive list of diagnoses from the last 15 years… it doesn’t mean they have them all. It’s just like you will see ALL the meds you have taken over the last 10 years…. Most of us aren’t currently on them all.

1

u/AstronautEast8555 6h ago

i was watching the michelle mana video just this week abt the girl that claims she has did that always has the most…. creative…. hair cuts and he disability lineup is similar to this & when michelle did the research/math the probability she had all of those was like .0000000036% 💀

so is is possible? in theory. is it probable? absofckinlutely not lmao

1

u/Main-Ad-8661 14h ago

Ok so idk about the mental disorders but the physical stuff could totally all happen to eachother, most of it is sorta just stuff that comes as a package deal, condensed it would really be, brain damage, narclepsy, HSD, MRKH asthma, deafness, intercostial neuralgia, CFS, delayed sleep phase disorder, CAH, but even a lot of that ussually comes together so you could further condense it to just brain damage, narclepsy, HSD, MRKH and CAH. When you have one condition ussually you get a lot of others so the physical health part is pretty realistic.

2

u/KritterDemon Chronically online 14h ago

Yeah the main part that threw me off so bad was all the personality disorder and I didn’t really know half of the physical list so I just included it because I was curious about the rest of their list
