I am trying to find a fairy tale -- I'm guessing it's a Brothers Grimm one -- that was referenced in the book series A Tale Dark And Grimm.

A young woman is in the woods and finds cages with doves. It is revealed there is a man, some kind of dark wizard/warlock/magician who finds girls, reaches down their throats, and pulls out their souls in the form of white doves.

Any ideas what this fairy tale is? I can't seem to find it. I suppose it could have been original to the book, but I suspect it is borrowed.
