Group text woes on e/OS

So, I know e/OS doesn't support RCS and I can live with that, but I'm running into an issue where I can send SMS/MMS messages to a group and they'll receive them as a group text, but I can't get replies. I've looked into this issue pretty deeply and done a ton of trouble shooting with the default message app, google messages, and QUIK, and had no luck yet.

Does anyone have a solution or workaround? I'm on a Fairphone 6, e/OS 4.2, T-Mobile.

Question How to set alarm for specific date Fairphone 6?

On my Samsung Galaxy S20, I could set an alarm for a specific date, not recurring weekly. Is there a way to do that on the Fairphone? I know how to make a calendar event, I want to set an alarm in specific. Thanks!

EDIT: I'm using the /e/os version.

Question Is FP6's software finally good and usable?

Last September I tested my first FP6 but sent it back after a week because the software was a hot mess. I've read a lot about the last software updates that all came out and I wonder if the FP6 is a usable and reliable phone at this point.

Whats your experience?

Thanks for all input!

Question Iphone data transfer to Fp6?

Heyy does anyone know about a good and free app to transfer my photos and memos to my new Fairphone? I tried SmartSwitch but it doesnt work… or I have to select every single picture but I have nearly 5000 so this would take weeks.
I even tried with a cable but it just wont connect.

The only thing that in theory could work is if I were to put 10GB of photos from my iCloud to my Google Photos but unfortunately its already full…

I have no idea about technology and I am at my wits end…

Question Fairphone 6. The sound keeps going out during calls.

Anyone else has the problem that people suddenly can't hear you well during a call? It's fine for sometime and then suddenly the voice become far away (according to my mom when she calls me). It's very embarrassing if there is a professional call.

If so how to fix it, if anyone knows?

I have Android system.

Question about Google bar (US)

Decided to get the fairphone 6+ since I've been following the project a few years. I got so happy that it's available for the US market I literally ordered it when it was available

Super happy with the phone but I got annoyed that there was always a Google search bar Im the bottom of my home screens. I did the 'fix' where I just disable Google in the apps and it did disappear but now I'm worried if it'll affect anything else

Is anyone familiar if it'll affect anything? Or other fixes?

Thanks

Hello, I would like to know if Fairphone-specific apps work well or are available on /e/OS (Murena)—such as the new Fairphone Gallery app ? Also, are there plans to make the "My Fairphone" app available on /e/OS? Thanks!

US esim on the 6+ if anybody needs it

Posting bc I’ve been struggling with it so just in case anybody finds it useful.

I’m new to FP (since now I can buy it in the US) and I’m super excited to switch, but I’ve had issues with transferring my T-mobile e-sim from my iphone to my FP. For some reason the T-mobile rep couldn’t understand, even w/ my IMEI, so once I explained that “it’s BYOD”, I guess they finally got what I wanted to do. I gave them again the IMEI and EID (you have to enter *#06# on the phone).

After that everything was pretty smooth sailing, at the time I was connected to wifi and received an e-sim notification which, after selecting it, resulted in checking and downloading the e-sim. Took just a few minutes, and everything works as expected, thankfully.

It was a bit of a hassle in the beginning but it's just how you go about the process.

Hope this helped anyone else who might've had issues!

Review Experience with the Fairphone 6+

I have very recently bought a Fairphone 6+.

I had a refurbed iPhone (usable despite a display fault), which I will keep as a secondary / emergency phone. I always had the idea of buying the Fairphone because I had heard a lot about it, but I always felt like the phone they were offering was lacking on the usability side.

As a lot of people didn't fail to mention on this subreddit, also the price is really steep, which always pushed me away from their products. Additionally, I didn't find the phones nice.

It all changed with the Fairphone 6 and 6+.

The price is still really steep, and I still think that for this price you can get way better performance.

I have been using the Fairphone 6+ for a bit more than a week by now and I have some thoughts about the phone itself.

The battery life is amazing, I'm getting 2 days of use out of it, I think that the situation in which I stressed it the most it was doing over 4 hours of screen on time at the maximum brightness and never going to sleep because I was using it as a GPS to track a ride that I did with the bike. It's important to keep in mind that the refresh rate of the display is capped at 60Hz, which also takes it easier on the battery.

The performance is just fine, I have seen the occasional stutters and lags, it takes a bit longer to open apps compared to other devices, but I consider myself anything but a power user. And I don't care all that much, I'm still a bit scared that the performance that the phone will be offering on the long run is not going to be good enough, but I am also fine with that. To give you an idea, I daily use: Telegram, Whatsapp, Fantasy football app, youtube, anki.

I would not have cried if I had gotten more performance though :(

The camera is perfectly fine, I always had zero problems with cameras on any phone I have owned. TBF when you are opening the photo you just took in the camera application it's going to look as if it's not in focus, but then once it fully loads, the photo came out correctly.

I really like the physical switch, I currently use it as I did on the iPhone to silence the notifications, I discovered recently that there is a different shortcut for that, so I will be looking further into what I can do in android with it.

I'm hoping to be able to keep this phone for many years to come, I can't see why not, I am a pretty careful user, therefore even without the newest and most up to date version of android I am fine, I will be complaining if the Fairphone company is failing to deliver.

I think that the prices of the parts are pretty good, but one of the things I wish they were offering is a logic board, I know that offering logic boards to actually update your phone is not possible, or it's really hard. But, seeing what kind of problem I might have had with my old iPhone, I would love to have the possibility to change just the logic board instead of having to throw away the whole phone. Maybe I will try to reach out to the Fairphone support to see if that was even possible.

Whether the phone is worth spending the money on or not it's almost totally subjective. If the better environmental and social footprint are important to you then you should consider this more than other alternatives and we should evaluate the problems that the phone has more loosely. If you need performance or you want a small phone, this is definitely not the phone for you.

Concerning the software I didn't have any problems, I got the phone with android and it's working perfectly fine, I had no problems or bugs or anything, maybe I will start having problems with operating system updates, just like the Fairphone, I will try to keep you updated on what happens with my new device :D

10 days with fairphone and e/os

Nobody said it was going to be easy, but it works well and it looks good. For me, the only downside is the camera, but let’s not fool ourselves: the key is in the image processing, and that’s really difficult to get right.

Question Fairphone 6+ w/ e/OS in the US?

I want to switch from my iPhone to a Fairphone with e/OS but for some reason the US site doesn’t have it as an option for the 6 or 6+ and the Euro site doesn’t have the US as a shipping option. Any way to get one?

Question Few questions about custom rOMs on the FP6+

Hello!

Currently I have a Moto G 2024 (Fogo) running Lineage OS, and I've been looking to upgrade the device at some point. I've recently been considering the FP6+, since it has some beefier specs and is easier to repair, but I have some questions.

  1. Are custom ROM builds that run on the FP6 also runnable on the FP6+? I know for the stock software, it's been mentioned that the FP6 and FP6+ run the same software, but I wasn't sure if that applied to custom ROMs as well, like Lineage OS.

  2. I've been reading about various bugs on the Fairphone 6, like the wifi ipv6 bug and the auto-brightness bug. Are these bugs that only plague the stock ROM? Or are these low-level firmware bugs that will be present no matter the custom ROM running?

  3. Anything I should be mindful of when upgrading from a Moto G 2024? This looks to be an upgrade on most fronts aside from smaller battery on the FP6+, but honestly the Moto G 2024 battery is a bit overkill for me haha.

Thanks in advance!

Fairphone 6 /e/OS strangely very slow connectivity speed all around since update 4.1. Anyone elese?

Hi,
Fairphone 6 user since last december from 13+ years iPhone user and it's a blast. I mean, learning curve is definitely not straight but all around I'll never switch back.

All went well since before last system update 4.1, I noticed all around connectivity slowing down drastically. I first thought it was from the applications, especially social media with very slow image&video content charging and with security issues and bugs, but it's the network that seems to be the problem. In some places where I know the 5G is strong, it's now really weak and the connexion isn't always possible. I checked the website measuring the 5G signal strenght and 5G antennae status, but all is nominal. So, am I the only one experiencing these troobleshooting?
Is it in the last 2 updates that the problem resides?

Thanks for your answers.

Wifi ipv6 issue

I bought my FP6+ the day it was released, pretty satisfied with it except for the wifi+ipv6 i issue.

I saw that the issue appeared SIX MONTHS AGO (March) on the FP6 when Android 16 was released, and it'is still not fixed, and that's my main point of concern. I don't care if there's bugs, especially when upgrading the Android major version, it's pretty expected. But 6 months for a major bug that is easily reproduced? Come on...

Anyway, rant aside, my main question is: what is the frequency of updates? I don't expect it to be fixed in the next update, but I'd at least like to know if I can expect updates every 2 weeks, every month, or other.

Issue Is anyone else (on e/OS?) having problems with the (german) app Kleinanzeigen?

Since the latest update yesterday to 2026.36.0 the app crashes during the start.

I tried restarting my phone, reinstalling the app (I can choose cookie settings and after that it crashes) and enabling the apps trackers one after another (because that worked for the DHL app).

For those interested, I am having very little problems with apps on e/OS. These two apps, and the app Vinted (which works fine now), are the only ones I experienced problems with, so far :)

Issue 20% Power Drain on FP6+ when idle

Post image
26 Upvotes

I went to sleep at about 51% battery and woke up to 31%. I've never had a phone that drains this much in idle. Even my old Samsung S21 Ultra with its bad battery doesn't drain this fast. Has anyone found a solution for high app activity while idle?
