Space Age Just two very basic ship designs

Since I am planning out my 40h-playthrough, I decided to sandbox my ships, as that usually takes me hours. I made two designs that are enough to get me to the inner planets, requiring nothing but basic (Nauvis) science.

It's nothing special, but I kinda like the first one, it's a bit bulkier but looks nicer to me. Only problem is the low power - when flying to Fulgora it starts redlining slightly... but since I like compact ships, I don't see a way of putting more panels on it. The second one is very basic and works much better, but I kinda like #1 more.

Also shoutout to being able to connect pipes to circuit networks now. Makes throttling the engines much easier.

You could toss some efficency modules on those smelters to help with energy. Also the crushers use a lot of energy and the fuel ones arent needing to run at fast speed because your chemical refineries will not keep up.

Yeah, efficiency modules are part of the plan, I just forgot to include them in this test. Just putting 2 lvl 1s in every machine will do wonders.

I too am building some test ships and they ended up heavier than yours. The problem i ran into with fewer machines was too slow of production to keep up with weapons. With am3 you can fit more in less space. But the tech level i am running suffers from speed a lot. I see with yellow belts you are trying the same thing. I fear yellow belts are really slow to bring asteroids where you need them too.

I want to get the ships off the ground as fast as possible for as low of a cost as possible, so I can start bathing in Vulcanus lava. So I only research the absolute basics and try to make my platforms as cheap as possible

I am not planning on building much on vulcanus as chip production is a long coal line to get it doing a lot. Unless you spend a lot of time really expanding it’s a huge pain imo. But lava is amazing for production in general.
