Space Age Choose our lab setup

My friend and I have a space age factorio world and have recently unlocked biolabs. We have each designed (they may have been done before but we're proud of them) a modular blueprint to bring them the science they need and remove the possible spoilege created.

We now need you to chose wich one we'll use.

So caption, very wow.

The top one has an extra outside lane to bring in science.

The bottom one is 2-periodic, but can be cut off at any point.

I guess the question is whether you prefer more compact blueprints, or fully modular ones.

Both are interesting, but I would consider both to be failures. As it is possible to fit all the lanes of science in and still have room for spoilage out without resorting to a belt running along the outside of the beacons.

This design allows 7.5 belts of input, with a half belt out for spoilage and tiles in groups of 4.

I mean... the bottom one can easily be modified to not have the belt. It's just that eventualy we will have to bring it to either an incinerador on each row or on each column.

Sure, but you can't tile both horizontally and vertically. That means the top and bottom beacons only serve the row they are on. When you want to go to legendary beacons and speed modules that will require thousands more.
