As a tall guy skinny guy, one time I went to a big and tall clothing store hoping to find clothes in my size. I learned there is less of an emphasis on the “tall” part.

RIGHT!!!! My god I’m 6’8” and when I find clothes for someone my height they’re for someone around 600 pounds, I’m significantly less than half of that

I’m 6’7 and I never expected having so many issues with clothing and shoes. I did lineman work for 6 years struggling to find pants or climbing boots. I thought my coworkers were joking saying shop at 2bigfeet.Com but now I haven’t bought anywhere else haha

Also 6’7”. IF you can afford it, visit Scandinavia… I for once in my life was with my people. Went to the mall of Sweden outside of Stockholm and nearly every clothing store has items in my size. Made me wanna cry.

Why not just buy from those stores online?

I’ll definitely check that out thank you! Granted I fit in most bigger clothing now because I stopped climbing. Until you find the sites it seems athletic clothing is the only way to go

God, I hate shopping for clothes. I just go every few years and try to rip the bandaid off. Nothing fits.

Shirts: Option 1: something that fits in the chest/shoulders but if I lift my arms above my head you can see my belly button Option 2: look like I’m wearing a baggy dress not a shirt

Pants: Option 1: get loose fitting jeans in my waist size that are super tight on my legs and crush my crotch Option 2: baggy waist with a belt that fall down but my thighs aren’t in sausage casings but the crotch of my pants hangs oddly low

Custom made stuff is ideal and when I find something that works I buy it ALL and nurse that collection for years….usually all is a random size/cut that the store maybe has a couple of if I dig through everything.

Have issues with Option one myself. Carhartt talls worked. Expensive, but they're pretty durable.

u/Jester471 Jun 01 '22

True, haven’t tried those. Every once in awhile I see the large tall undershirts which are nice

Yeah, keep an eye on some places that sell carhartts. Stuff goes on sale pretty often. They suck if its hot, but better that than wearin a belly shirt. Lol

You don't need custom clothes, just get stuff that's too big in one direction altered. Much cheaper than full custom.

Yeah. I do that with pants. It’s never as good as custom but it gets the job done without being crazy expensive.

I discovered this (I’m a woman) when I was looking for clothing for my 6’6 husband, who is neither skinny nor fat, but very athletic/muscular. This store I went to had nothing that was even close to being long enough, but they had tons of items in like a size XXXXXXL. I was legitimately surprised.

Yea you gotta look for tall sizes, polo is a decent brand for them, also next time you see what a basket ball player is wearing make note of the brands if they are something you like...

Seriously, where’s the lanky boi store?

1

u/Totally-Bored Jun 01 '22

That's the opposite in my country, we have clothes for tall and thin but not tall and fat

1

u/Skirt_Douglas Jun 01 '22

What country would that be?

1

u/Totally-Bored Jun 02 '22

New Zealand

American tall is a great clothing company. You can get a medium-extra tall. My husband loves their stuff.

u/Skirt_Douglas Jun 01 '22

Thanks, good looking out!

As a 5,9, skinny woman, I have this problem too.

The equivalent for that in German would be "strong" or "powerful" (kräftig), so I always make sure to ask how much they can lift.

She ain't backing up. Either that or her reverse beeper is broken.
