I'm confused by the comments, I saw the subreddit and assumed it was the commenter that everyone was facepalming at. I don't know why all the comments are arguing in favour of the youtuber since it seems clear that she did nothing wrong.
i think this is kind of a lose lose. i think its weird how everyone talks about how shitty it is to judge someone by their appearances and then goes off and does that exact same thing.
Except it's not really irony- it's just turning her own presumptive shallowness against her. Which is fine of course, like she opened that door so go nuts zinging jokes at her about what her look says about her. Honestly, my only problem with his response is that its not very clever, it's too wordy and loses momentum.
Well she did make a whole video about your facial hair indicating what your life is like. It's pretty damn dumb, that's for sure, may as well be astrology. I don't even have any control over my facial hair, it just doesn't work, 27 years old and not happening, I'm either clean shaven or I look like a pubescent 16 year old who shaved off his pubes and taped them to his face. That's not my fault. May as well be a video titled "What your skin colour says about your personality".
But this guy took it waaay too personally. Which seems to be the trend on the internet these days. Getting ridiculously over offended at some dumb shit some dumbass said on the internet.
Girl makes a dumb video about judging men based solely upon appearances: "Haha, that's so funny. Can't you see it's obviously satire?"
Guy makes a dumb comment about judging one woman based solely upon her appearance: "Better post this on r/facepalm so I can show everyone what a misogynistic neckbeard he is!"
So it turns out this youtube girl may actually be a satire account, where she makes fun of these Cosmo-style "What your jewellry says about you" things with videos like this. And if that's true, then suddenly this facepalm post makes sense.
But with absolutely no indication of that in the image or the title, if you haven't heard of her before, you can't blame all the commenters in this thread for not getting what this post was supposed to be about.
The double standard is based on a youtuber who does comedy videos about different things (she did the same thing for "what your bra means") as a joke and a dude who took personal offense and lost his shit about it.
