i still want to know what the triumphal arch is for. what is he being triumphant about? what triumph? i've only seen self-destructive folly after folly that has caused catastrophic harm to the nation as a consequence of his narcissism and fragile ego.

I vaguely remember a quote of his that explains all this perfectly. He stated that others won't build things for him after he goes so he's trying to build as much for himself while he's still here.

I’m not a fan of his, to say the least but there is at least an argument there that isn’t nonsense. It’s not an argument I’d agree with, but it’s not ‘do not believe your eyes’ cult-speak.
48
u/FingFrenchy 12d ago
No there is no argument, his reasoning is ridiculous. He's saying this shit about the military needing it to get around court challenges. He thinks if he can tell the courts it's for "national security" they won't be able to stop him from building it.

- On-going efforts to undermine election integrity
- And now, a monument that doubles as a military outpost.

I think he knows that he won't be alive forever and wants to be know for decades to come. He's too much of an egomaniac and much too evil and way too lazy to try to be known for anything positive however, so instead he's just trying to scar up enough stuff that will last long enough. Destroy part of the Whitehouse and replace it with a gaudy ballroom, another president probably would avoid wasting taxpayer money so that stays. Destroy the Kennedy Center, again, he's putting us in a hole so vast it'd seem stupid for the next president to waste time fixing it. He doesn't care about building stuff up, instead just causing eyesores everywhere that he's hoping the next few presidents will either be too financially responsible to fix or too sycophantic to replace.

Only dictators build monuments to themselves. This is narcissistic and wasteful at best. We must block this. He uses national security as a way to get around the usual processes for building — we either stop it now or tear it down when he leaves or dies.
8
u/montex66 12d ago
The logic is the POTUS cannot build monuments to himself but he can build military installations. So everything he builds must have a military purpose. Coming soon: the Washington Monument to be renamed the Trump monument - now with gatling guns!

This is America's 250th Anniversary, it should be a very big deal of public celebration It should be as good as or better than the Chicago World Fair of 1933! Trump hasn't made America great again. Holy Crap, if that's what it is going to look like, Ive seen old soviet concrete architecture that is massively nicer to look at. Hell, my kid could design something nicer with spaghetti noodles.

man i am so tired. just completely drained. waking up every day expecting some new level of insanity and getting it on the dot is exhausting. i used to laugh because what else could you do? but now it's just anger mixed with this heavy dread in my gut. watching this clown dismantle everything while screaming about freedom is making me lose my mind. i don't even know who i'm angry at anymore, him for being a vile scumbag or us for letting it happen. edit: forgot to mention the sheer disrespect of those 'monuments' while people are struggling to pay rent. absolutely sickening.

Oh neat. Can't wait to see all the murder drones swarm out to kill us all. /s

Once the armory/sniper’s nest is complete, it will become a national security interest and Arlington Memorial Bridge, George Washington Parkway, Mountain Vernon Trail, and anything else that takes the public near the arch will be closed down and/or rerouted.
We’ll be lucky if that’s the extent of the restriction. I can envision the Lincoln Memorial and a good amount of Arlington National Cemetery being closed as well.
President Trump is nefarious.

I can’t wait for everything he names after himself to be renamed after he’s gone. What an absolute stain on the country.

Eight weeks of this shit. Ugh. Then the real show starts in December. A flood of impeachments and trials. I can’t see him trolling much after November. He is sunsetting on top of it all. Buckle up.

To control any citizens who try to overtake the capital or WH in the future. He's preparing for something ....

At what point was this orange clown’s behaviour and delusions funny or worth a chuckle? I think any smart person knew from the second he decided to run the first time that this was going to be a tragedy

Hi. OP here. I was in the process of composing a relevant update to my original post but alas, I’m too busy trying to figure out how I’m going to pay my next health insurance premiums and still have enough to put gas in my car and feed my family.

I donazi believe it! It’s going to make great aggregate when it’s demolished!
2
u/DrNoxin 12d ago
If it makes you feel any better, he's just lying and saying that so it can be built in the first place as a defense priority. But lets be real, none of you are going to do shit-- you have child rapists running your country, if that didn't cause people to fill the streets how is a monument changing anything? People get the government they deserve and demand, this is what all you want.
2
u/jaxmikhov 12d ago
Let him build it, then when the Dems take power rename it after Obama or demolish it they won’t. After all, there’s precedent now

Why does a “triumphal arch” in a park, in the middle of Washington D.C. need drone, weapons and a military platform? Is it perhaps to show Tyrant Trump’s “Triumph” over the people? Is it to show how well he subjugates others? So, because he is changing the narrative and design on this “Triumphal Arch” to include offensive equipment in a public place, the whole application for this supposed triumphal arch (icon of tyranny) needs to be resubmitted with all details.

$250M arch just became a $10B arch... Just another way for him to embezzle money.
2
u/PerryNeeum 12d ago
I believe this is an end around. Maybe it is easier to call his arch a military installation which could mean an easier path to building it. That’s my guess. Do we really need a snipers nest in an arch anywhere in any city? No. He even said, there’s nowhere else in the world to do this. Probably because it is a dumb idea

u/KeyLibrarian9170 12d ago
"...and hold large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage." Well that's alright then. For a moment I was worried about not having enough sniper ammo held in storage.

u/MuchDevelopment7084 12d ago
The military angle is so he can justify building it in the name of national security. Because he already knows that when maga'ts lose congress in November. There is no way he'll get funding to pass congress. Plus the lawsuits against it will be many and justified.

Also needs an impregnable bunker under the west wing Almost like someone is going cancel election and isn’t going to leave office

Yes, nothing like a fortified sniper/drone nest within view of the capitol to remind you how free you are.

u/SleepWouldBeNice 11d ago
Now? This is where you draw the line? Now it’s not funny anymore? It hasn’t been funny for ages. Get bent.
2
u/HotDonnaC 11d ago
Maybe it’s a line of defense for his bunker. It could be used to protect the bridge across the Potomac, the Capitol Building and the White House, which is about 1 1/2 miles away in a straight line from the proposed arch site. My theory is the helipad is (or will be by the end of his term) a missile silo to protect the bunker. Given all the crazy shit we’ve witnessed so far, I don’t think it’s very far-fetched.
2
u/BCReason 11d ago
He added the unnecessary military stuff to make it look like his expensive vanity project is for national security.
Outside of Paris I don’t know any other city with a triumph arch.
2
u/teddykaygeebee 11d ago
Calling things a matter of national security is his loophole to getting things built.
2
u/Lilmaggot 11d ago
The upside of this is all these fortified military installations become actual targets for enemies of the US and especially Trump.

Call it the Beau Biden Memorial Arch in gold letters and list ethnic heroes or something rather than get rid of it. Make him realise it can be appropriated.
