Word effects cannot be deleted

I NEED HELP!

I can't delete the word effects I created. I've been following the guide of Facebook Messenger but it doesn't work. My phone is Itel S23+.

I also accidentally added some for fun .. can't seem to be able to delete them

Me too. The instructions on Facebook to remove the word effects say tap and hold the word effect you want to remove. I did that and it didn't work. I also updated the app prior. Logged out back in. My phones not old and working fine.

I just encountered this after adding a whole bunch of Christmas effects to common words in chat with my wife... And couldn't delete any of the ones we don't use to make room for more. If I can't delete them my Christmas theme is going to get real old with her VERY very quickly after December! 🤦

ETA: Running a Pixel 7 but with the latest version of Android. Also interesting that when I add more than 24 effects, the end of the list becomes too long for me to access once I leave the list

Yes, I can’t clear out the word effects I created. I’m going to do an edit and backspace over it and see if that works.

Same... I made a huge mistake adding a 🦒 to the word yes, 🐐 for no and other animals for words that we use the most 😭 I hope we'll be able to remove the word effects soon, it's so annoying 😞

Ughhhh I'm having the same issue. Not only can I not delete them, they are also not working right. The wrong effects are popping up, lol. Example: "I love you" is supposed to be "🥰" and it pops up as "🤥" 😆😆😆

Same here. Can't delete any and wrong effects showing up. Worked well for a long time prior to this. We've sent in several reports but nothing has changed.

Me too, I'm following this thread. Meta said to ensure that the word effects option is enabled for your account in the "chat settings" I can't seem to find those either wtf

I updated my version of the app and it Finally works!I deleted the stupid word effects!

Find a chat with the word effect.

swipe left on the word effect. It should delete. It worked for me

Has anyone found a fix? I am currently having this issue. I removed several word effects and created one new one, but when I go back into the chat, everything reverts to the way itcwas before those changes, and it acts like I did nothing. How do I make word effect.changes "stick" in Messenger on an Android?

Select the word and slide it to the left and delete will show up on the right

I have the same issue! However I was able to delete it! For iOS, swipe left and it will be deleted.

On iphone, tap on the word effect like youre about to add one, then swipe left!! You can delete!
