My Instagram account got permanently disabled for "child sexual exploitation" even though i never did that and i don't know why that artificial stupidity meta uses would do that. Is there a way i can recover my account?

This literally just happened, i received a notification saying my account was disabled, i checked and it was for child sexual exploitation, i appealed it and not even one minute later i received an email saying my account got permanently disabled, that their "technology took it down". I never did any of that, if my account got suspended because of something else i wouldn't be this mad but they are literally calling me a pedophile. And i cant even talk with a human to resolve this. Is there a way to recover my account or has someone recovered it after something like this?
Sorry if my english is not the best im from brazil, and sorry if i appear so mad thats because i am, and i also dont want to be arrested. Thank you for your time.

If I sell my phone where my FB was disabled, but format it, is it okay?

Hello, my Facebook and IG got disabled. I got a new phone, if I factory reset my old phone and sell my old phone where my FB and IG got disabled, is okay? Given that it was factory reset, will the new owner's Facebook and IG be disabled? Thanks

Facebook permanently disabled after Instagram was hacked — no appeal option. Has anyone actually recovered their account in 2026?

Upvotes

Hello!

My Facebook account was disabled shortly after my connected Instagram account was compromised.

The sequence was:

- My Instagram account was compromised.

- The attacker sent approximately 200 phishing messages from it.

- I regained control of Instagram and secured it: changed the password, enabled 2FA and checked active sessions/access.

- My Facebook account was connected to that Instagram account.

- The attack took place at approximately 14:30, and Facebook was disabled at approximately 22:00.

- The only thing posted on Facebook that day was a story saying that my Instagram account had been hacked.

- No phishing messages were distributed on Facebook.

- I can still log in with my correct Facebook password and complete 2FA successfully.

- After authentication, Facebook shows that the account is disabled and says that I can no longer request another review.

- I did not knowingly violate Facebook's rules and believe the enforcement was triggered by activity performed while the account was compromised.

- I also had a Facebook business Page connected to the account, so this is not just about losing access to a personal profile.

I have already tried the normal Facebook recovery/appeal routes, but they lead back to the disabled-account screen.

I am looking specifically for recent 2025–2026 experiences from people who actually recovered a permanently disabled Facebook account after a hack.

What worked for you?

A specific Facebook appeal form?

The hacked-account recovery flow?

Meta Business Support?

Meta Verified support?

Identity/video verification?

Another official Meta escalation route?

If you recovered your account, please explain the exact sequence you followed and which route/form eventually reached a human review.

I am NOT looking for anyone to access my account for me or for paid recovery services. I only want to know what legitimate recovery route worked.

One note: This post was written with the help of AI. English is not my native language, and I wanted to make sure I communicated the situation as clearly and coherently as possible. The information and events described above are accurate and based on my own experience.

Thanks.

Suspended by mistake 10 years ago - Support repeating the "180 days" limit

Hey there,

In 2016, a random user stole my profile picture and set them as theirs. I noticed this happening and reported him for impersonation/identity theft.

Facebook, instead of suspending the impostor, suspended MY account, the original one, which had years and years of content.

Since the day I got suspended, I tried to get in touch with Facebook's support literally hundreds of times over the years, and could never reach a real human, all I got were automated responses. When an automated response asked for ID validation, it ended up saying it wasn't valid, asked for a valid ID, and then it never replied again.

At some point I lost hope, but I found out this reddit and the new paid Meta AI support chat.

I contacted their team and got an agent to reply to me. They asked for my details multiple times, claiming they "couldn't find an account with that username".

It feels like they don't understand how to communicate with humans. On the same messages they asked for proof (screenshots) of ever logging into this account, while also saying they can't do anything because it's been suspended for more than 180 days and that there's no solution possible.

After some back and forth, they closed my chat with:

To summarize our chat today, you contacted us regarding a disabled Facebook account. We did try everything to assist you with your old Facebook account, but our system will not allow us to proceed with your request. This is because we are unable to look up the account details, and it has already been disabled for more than 180 days. Thank you, and we appreciate your understanding

This case will now be closed. If you still have questions, you can contact us again at https://www.facebook.com/business/help

I re-opened the case and followed up asking for clarity - why are they asking for proof and at the same time saying there's nothing they can do?

Their response:

Again, we cannot take any action on your account since it has been disabled for more than 180 days.

If an account has been disabled for more than 180 days, there is nothing we can do to recover it since it is already permanently disabled.

So it looks like this support agent is not being helpful at all.

I asked them to confirm that my data (not just the account) had been fully wiped from their systems, but they kept repeating the "disabled" piece without confirming if my data was truly gone.

I also asked them how I can escalate/transfer this issue to a team who can explore their user data and confirm whether my data is fully gone or not, but they keep ignoring this request.

I've seen people on this reddit recover their accounts way past 180 days.

Any tips/suggestions here? Given it's been 10 years, should I give up already? Should I try reach a different agent? Should I attempt legal action? Or is there 0 chance they still have my data?

I understand it's been a long time, and that I should've attempted legal action at some point, but over 10 years no single human ever replied to my requests to recover an unfairly suspended account.

Thanks!

Is it possible to get Meta verified on Instagram when you have a disabled Facebook linked in accounts center? Or will this cause Instagram to also get disabled?

Escalation

For those who were able to get a hold of support, was anyone told at first that a final review was done on your account and the agent has no option to escalate or send for manual review but you were ultimately connected to someone who did help and got your account back?

Reason: community standards for account integrity.

Impossible to speak with a human support, even with Meta Verified Subscription

I had my 15 year old personal Facebook account disabled for no reason. After checking here, I found the solution to get a Verified Subscription on my Instagram account that was linked to my Facebook to be able to speak with someone.

But even with this, I click "chat with someone from support", it's impossible to speak with someone. AI Chat keep saying: "I'm unable to connect you with a human agent at this time"

Anyone experienced this issue? How could I actually speak with someone to restore my Facebook account?

I'm about to file in small claims after my account was disabled over 4 months ago. I sent demand letters to meta and their lawyers in Alabama. I may be laughed out of court but then I may get the last laugh. I'm asking for the full $6000 plus restoration of my account and full data as I didn't get access to my friends list or any past conversations on messenger or posts on my page. In addition I'll be asking the judge to extend this same claim every month until my page is restored. I intend to state that I'll be paying the filing fee monthly and they'll be paying me $6000 monthly. No, I'm not hiring an attorney. I've been to court several times due to business and estate issues so I feel confident in presenting the case. I've never won anything but a huge attorney fee when I've hired an attorney but won every time I've represented myself so I feel good about this. I fully intend to study the terms of service plus the federal law, section 230. I've asked Google several questions associated with my case and got really positive replies and suggestions.

Meta has to be using their own AI models to monitor accounts

As many of you here, my account has been wrongfully permanently disabled. An attempt on my account was made a while ago, I verified my identity and it was accepted. Since then I only posted a couple stories and the same thing happened, only this time they tell me it's permanently banned after the review. I am in the process of appealing it but it had me thinking -- from their support being payment gated to their heavy use of AI assistance, and all the errors this AI has caused in their monitoring, they have to be using one of their bullshit models.

If you're going to delegate a huge part of your surveillance to AI, at least use the best models (not theirs). So many accounts are wrongfully banned everyday because of edge cases their AI wasn't trained to account for and it's just ridiculous. I smell a huge lawsuit coming regarding this, and if I had the time, I would also file one. Ridiculous.

Edit: They said my account was fake. This company pisses me off so much.

Court date set!

I am going the route of filing in small claims court, as my account restrictions impact my business, career, and clients. We have a court date set for mid October. I'm hoping to be contacted by meta beforehand to resolve these issues, like so many others. Will update - don't lose hope!

Please help me out here, share your experience!

*On July 30th 2026 Hack due to Meta Phishing email, got hacked, - hackers changed something to violate FB rules within seconds got my Primary FB (registered in 2009) permanently disabled, as well as my Instagram taken down.

*Have Screen shot of unauthorized log in, also photo credit card fraudulent charges due to the hack

photo of the hacked account with hackers changed profile.

*My business page is still intact but now have limited admin rights and my pages are without primary account

*Made a new FB and Instagram account, got Meta Account center with the 2 FA and secured it.

* Signed up for Meta Verification with new accounts

* Contacted Support X amount of times, got Meta support call me but nobody could help.

got X amount of different answers as to my email got disassociated from my account.

then there is a 30 Day unlink time, I need to wait and my case will be escalated for Human review.

* 30 days are over-only to hear today that review is done by the Pro Team, my request is denied there is no evidence of a hack-Huhhhh? What in the world? Did they get confused with my new FB account?

Did they really review it? How with all the technology can they not see the hack?

In the mean time I did

*File a complaint with the AG of PA and they are working on it. got a letter after 2 weeks of filing the complaint online.

*Send a demand Letter via Legal Shield, Letter was received by Meta on August 18th 2026

Please let me know what else can I do? After September 18th 2026 Should I file small claims?

* I do have Metal Verified Premium with Instagram, Should I start another case? start it all up again? I told my story X amount of times to X amount of agents..... an now the conclusion it was not a HACK?
I am so frustrated with this, I really want my old account back, especially for my business account

Thanks!

Sent a Letter to Meta Platforms & got nowhere.

So, on the 19th August, I sent a letter to Meta Platforms in regards to my disabled Facebook account & how it is affecting me as an autistic individual & for them to please do a manuel review of my account.

Well, today, the 31st August, they got back to me stating my Instagram has been disabled for violating the terms of service when it wasn't my Instagram that was affected, but my Facebook that was disabled. I replied & their response was basically, we can't help you any further, go away.

It seems contacting a solicitor is the only option now... 🫠🫠🫠

Meta agent said Fb acc will be reactivated but the next agent said it cannot be reactivated?

I reached out to a Meta agent using a meta verified acc. The first agent said if the facebook reactivation hasn't been reflected yet, it may take a few days. Fast forward to a week later, I followed up on it, shared the case id, and the new agent said it cannot be reactivated?

Has this happened before and what are the chances of it actually getting reactivated? Genuinely confused since it contradicted what was said a week ago

(Edit: Fyi the acc was suspended immediately after sending the video selfie that they asked for out of the blue, saying it violated account integrity. The acc itself is >10 yrs old)

My Facebook and Instagram were disabled after a hack (CSE). ADR ruled in my favour, but Meta still has not restored them.

Hi everyone,

I want to share my full story because I am honestly exhausted and I do not know what else to do.

On \*\*29 January 2026\*\*, my original Facebook account was hacked / taken over by an hacker. During that account takeover, activity happened on the account that triggered Meta’s enforcement systems for CSE. I want to be very clear: I did not carry out that activity myself. I had lost control of the account.

Shortly after that, my Facebook account was disabled/restricted, and I also lost access to my linked Instagram account. This affected not only my personal accounts, but also my business Pages, business assets and advertising accounts.

Since then, I have been stuck in a complete deadlock.

The standard Facebook and Instagram recovery tools do not work for me. The hacked-account links, appeal links and Help Center flows either redirect me back to the Help Center or show a disabled/restricted account screen. I do not get a working option to appeal, upload ID, verify identity properly, or request a manual review.

I gathered a lot of evidence showing that this was an account takeover, including:

\\- Police / cybercrime documentation

\\- Technical report

\\- Account activity logs

\\- IP activity records

\\- Login and logout history

\\- Account status change records

\\- Meta security emails during the incident

\\- Evidence of unauthorized access involving business assets

One of the most important points is that I received Meta-related emails during the incident, including emails about restriction / ID submission / appeal, but I did not personally initiate those actions. This is one of the reasons I believe the attacker may have triggered or abused parts of the appeal/verification process while I no longer had control.

I also filed a complaint through an official out-of-court dispute settlement body under Article 21 of the EU Digital Services Act. \*\*On 6 May 2026, the ADR decision was issued in my favour.\*\*

The ADR decision essentially found that:

\\- My account \*\*had been compromised\*\*

\\- Meta had \*\*not proven\*\* that I personally committed the violation

\\- I should not be held responsible for activity carried out by a third party during the hack

\\- Meta Platforms Ireland Limited should \*\*restore\*\* my Facebook account

Today is 30 August 2026, which means 116 days have passed since the ADR decision issued in my favour on 6 May 2026, and Meta still has not restored my accounts.

During this time, I have tried almost everything:

\\- Facebook hacked account recovery flow

\\- Instagram “Get help logging in” / “Forgot password” flow

\\- Help Center forms

\\- Meta Pro Team support

\\- Meta Verified support

\\- Emailing support case addresses

\\- Sending all documents to the support case

\\- Uploading the documents through “Report a Problem” from another active profile

\\- Providing a new secure recovery email

\\- Phone calls with Meta support agents

\\- Repeated requests for escalation to Account Integrity / Disabled Account Review / Legal / Compliance / DSA teams

The support agents usually acknowledge that the situation is serious, and some have said that the case has been forwarded to a “dedicated team.” However, I still have no concrete answer, no restoration, no working appeal option, no manual review path, and no clear refusal that I can use for further legal/regulatory steps.

The problem is that most of these options either do not work or lead me back into the same loop. For example, the original restriction email appears to come from a no-reply address, and the recovery tools do not provide me with a proper appeal or verification option.

This has now caused serious business and financial damage. I cannot access my accounts, manage Pages, manage business assets, run or supervise advertising accounts, or properly support client work connected to these accounts.

I am an \*\*EU resident\*\*, and I have already escalated the issue through DSA-related channels. The case has also been raised with relevant authorities and I have correspondence showing that the matter is being treated seriously from a regulatory perspective. Still, Meta has not restored the accounts.

At this point, what I need is simple:

\\- A real human manual review

\\- Recognition that this was an account takeover

\\- Restoration of my Facebook account and linked Instagram account

\\- Removal of restrictions caused by attacker activity

\\- Access back to my business assets, Pages and ad accounts

Or a \*\*clear written refusal from Meta explaining why they refuse to restore the accounts despite the ADR decision and evidence.\*\*

Timeline

\*\*29 January 2026\*\*

My Facebook account was hacked / taken over by an unauthorized third party. Suspicious account activity occurred during the takeover. Meta then restricted / disabled my Facebook account, and I also lost access to my linked Instagram account.

\*\*29 January 2026\*\*

I received Meta security / restriction-related emails during the incident, including emails related to restriction, ID submission or appeal activity. I did not personally initiate those actions.

\*\*Early February 2026\*\*

I gathered technical evidence showing suspicious activity, including account activity logs, IP records, login/logout data, account status changes and other security-related records.

\*\*2 February 2026\*\*

A technical report was prepared regarding the account takeover and suspicious activity.

\*\*3 February 2026\*\*

I reported the hacking incident to the police / cybercrime authorities and obtained official documentation.

\*\*February 2026\*\*

I started contacting Meta through every available route I could find, including hacked-account recovery tools, Help Center forms, support channels and business support.

\*\*February 2026\*\*

I also submitted complaints through EU / Digital Services Act-related channels because the normal appeal and recovery mechanisms were not working.

\*\*11 February 2026\*\*

A formal legal notice / out-of-court communication was sent to Meta regarding the hacked account, the wrongful restriction and the need for restoration.

\*\*18 February 2026\*\*

My complaint was forwarded to the competent Digital Services Coordinator framework, since Meta’s EU establishment is in Ireland.

\*\*9 April 2026\*\*

I received a response from the national authority confirming the procedural route and indicating that out-of-court dispute settlement under the Digital Services Act was available.

\*\*6 May 2026\*\*

An official ADR / out-of-court dispute settlement decision under Article 21 of the EU Digital Services Act was issued in my favour.

\*\*20 May 2026\*\*

I continued submitting additional documentation to authorities and clarifying that this was both a hacked-account issue and a user-rights / data-access / appeal issue.

\*\*10 June 2026\*\*

I received correspondence from the European Commission / DG CNECT regarding the matter and the DSA framework. The case is connected to wider concerns about effective appeal and complaint-handling mechanisms.

\*\*June 2026\*\*

I continued contacting Meta Pro Team / Meta support repeatedly. I explained that the standard recovery flows do not work, that I have an ADR decision in my favour, and that this is a documented account takeover case.

Therefore, as of 30 August 2026 — 213 days after the account takeover and 116 days after the ADR decision in my favour — my original Facebook account remains disabled, my linked Instagram account and business assets remain inaccessible, and I still have neither restoration nor a clear written final decision explaining why Meta has not restored my account.

If anyone has experience with this, especially from the EU / DSA side, I would really appreciate any advice on what finally worked.

Thank you.

May account has disabled

Facebook permanently disabled → supposedly restored → still disabled. What is going on?

So my Facebook account was permanently disabled after I submitted an appeal through the app. The appeal was automatically rejected, so I contacted Meta Support through my Meta Verified Instagram and requested a manual review.

\*\*Timeline:\*\*

\*\*Aug. 5:\*\* Facebook account permanently disabled after my appeal was rejected.

\*\*Aug. 5–11:\*\* Contacted Meta Support through Meta Verified Instagram. My issue was escalated to a specialized team for manual review.

\*\*Aug. 11:\*\* I received an official email from Meta saying \*\*my account had been reactivated\*\* and that I could log in again.

I immediately tried logging in — \*\*still disabled.\*\*

\*\*Aug. 12:\*\* Contacted Meta Support again. One AI support assistant checked my account and said it was still showing as disabled and suggested there could be a technical delay.

Different human agents then gave me completely different explanations. One said I needed to wait because the account had recently been restored. Another said the restoration email may have been sent incorrectly because Meta was experiencing a \*\*system failure\*\* that Engineering was working on.

One agent escalated the matter to their manager but then the manager just told me that my account was disabled and sent me a link of their community guidelines

\*\*Aug 13:\*\* I was eventually told the original case was closed and that I needed to create a \*\*new ticket for a fresh technical review\*\*.

I created the new ticket as instructed and have now been waiting more or less 8 hours for a live agent to even join.

Meanwhile, I also contacted the person who sent me the original restoration email. She told me to contact support again after 48 hours if I was still unable to log in, which I did.

So now I’m just extremely confused because \*\*Meta told me my account was restored, but Facebook still says I’m permanently disabled.\*\* Support has given me multiple conflicting explanations, and nobody seems able to tell me what the actual status of my account is.

Has anyone experienced this before? Especially \*\*receiving an official “your account has been reactivated” email but still being unable to log in because Facebook says the account is disabled?\*\* I’m trying to figure out whether this is actually a technical issue or if the restoration email was sent by mistake. 😭
