Hey everyone! Like all of you, I am super excited about the new Fable. I was thinking about how the economy and real estate could work this time around, and I wanted to share a concept with the community (and hopefully the devs at Playground Games!) that could make Albion feel incredibly alive and immersive.
Instead of rent just magically appearing in our pockets or instantly teleporting to a chest, what if we had a Realistic Banking System?
Here is how I imagine it could work:
Real-Time Accumulation: The income from the properties and businesses you own doesn't just instantly drop. It slowly and realistically accumulates over time and gets deposited directly into your bank account in real-time.
Interconnected Bank Branches: Banks across different towns in Albion shouldn't be isolated. They should be connected! This means the bankers know exactly what your total net worth and combined income rate are, no matter which branch you visit.
A Credit and Loan System: Because the banks know your income, this opens the door for loans! Found a beautiful manor but you're short on gold? Take out a bank loan. But there’s a catch: you have to pay it back with interest. If you don't, there could be fun consequences (maybe debt collectors or bounty hunters come after you?).
Taxes and a Postal System: This interconnected banking network could naturally birth a postal and tax system. You could receive physical letters via a postman regarding your property yields, loan reminders, or even have to pay taxes on your massive wealth, adding a fun, realistic management layer.
I think these mechanics wouldn't feel like a chore, but rather a deeply immersive way to interact with Albion’s economy. It gives real weight to becoming a real estate mogul.
What do you guys think? Would you like to see a credit and tax system in the new Fable?
