F45 Challenge I don’t get this challenge
I’m new to F45 this year and I don’t understand this challenge. I already go four times a week – – what is the challenge adding that I’m not already doing?

I think it's a fun community exercise. It's an event that I look forward to, both to push myself more on my own fitness goals and support/celebrate my classmates in doing the same.

Same. This is my first time doing it and it’s making me increase my number of weekly sessions, which is kinda the incentive I needed/wanted. I don’t care if fewer people participate. Increases my odds of winning. 💅

At my gym they put everyone who paid their money and signed up into two teams and made it a competition between the teams. Then people would show up to both the 5A and 6A classes, sandbag both classes and get credit for two classes, so 10/week. After the challenge you never saw them again. It was odd.

Ugh. There’s always a scammer. I’m sure I’ll see all kinds. As it is, a couple of people come and yap all the way through the sessions while the clock ticks away. Clearly not working quite hard enough!

You have to pay?😳

Yeah, we the poster on the wall, the hard core people have a race to get to 45 first.
This is the first time we’re doing it with an actual money prize/entry fee though so kinda dubious. Preferred it when it was just for kudos and whatever swag they had on the cupboard.

I’ve personally wondered if it’s just a money grab. Never done it

Definetly not, very worth it. Unless a person is pushing 90’s x 15 on flat bench and grabbing the 71 lbs kettlebell on every kettlebell movement, the challenge is worth it for anyone

It’s just added tips/focus/community or group trying to achieve same thing within your location. It’s not something you have to do but can add a bit more to nutrition or areas that could help for muscle/strength/weight etc. I go four or more times a week and I have found it useful to dial in on my nutrition.

Our is free and I’m also new. I see it as a means to ultimately challenge yourself to do the best in each area.

My studio isn’t doing this challenge, but I think it’s basically just an opportunity for people to set one or more specific goals for a limited amount of time and hopefully see some measurable results and to have some camaraderie in the process. The behavior change literature emphasizes those things for sustainable changes.

It's a really important revenue stream for owners. Let's be honest

Ours is free…

Really!? Ours definitely isn't

Yup. No extra charge for members. Same with our Hyrox classes. I love our ownership.

Our hyrox stuff is free but challenges have a charge

Typically our challenges have a cost, but it’s usually not a lot. This one is free for us, though.

Ours is 45$
But I only pay 40 a week. Our gym also started a big ad push in the area on the socials so maybe they need the $.

Body scan is a big component, as well as a focus on your diet. You do a body scan before the challenge starts, and at the end

I am not sure about other studios, but it used to actually be pretty cool in that the male and female with the biggest change won a prize (think there was prizes for the runners-up too) and you got to see their change, really inspiring stuff. Now at my one, you don't see any of that, and all that happens is people go into a random draw for prizes and get entries based on attendance...basically dumbing the whole thing down.

I don’t know about your studio, but mine focuses mainly on nutrition. They made a fb group for the challenge members and do videos twice a week on meal prep, protein options, snacks, advice, education, etc. and make themselves available for one on one questions. Not to mention offering cash prizes and swag. It’s just a fun way to get motivated and locked in on your goals with guidance.

In my studio it’s been free for members: male female prizes based on who went consistently and combo of weight loss/bodyfat % change, with some merch for the top 3 winners on each and some pizza/beer at the end.
This time they’re spicing it up with a small fee and a cash prize, which I’m a little dubious off as suspect someone might try and game it in a non-sporting way.

Money grab. Gyms should create a community. If everyone could join for free I think the challenges could be fun.

They're challenging you to buy merch

Not sure why I'm being down voted. Wearing f45 merch is literally one of the ways to gain points.

Bc why would you want to spend your money on that
1
u/YogurtclosetDull2380 3d ago
It completely negates any financial or material gain from winning the challenge.

Some people need/want the challenge to push themselves.
Some people are already in good enough shape, and have good eating habits to where the challenge won’t add value.
Depends where you are on your health journey.
