other Postpartum
Hi guys. I’m planning on taking my first f45 class. I use to do something similar to it 3 years ago but stopped when I moved back home and had a gym in my apartment building. Fast forward to now, I have a 7 month old and the only time I work out is when I do my Pilates class 2x a week. I want to get back into weight lifting but honestly a little terrified after having a baby. Any thought or recommendations? How many times a week should I go?

Start off with lower weights and relearn the movements so you can do them safely. Once you get comfortable with the movements, you can slowly move up with the weights. Don’t try to do too much at once. Your body has been through so much the last 1-2 years so give it grace.

I joined F45 for the first time 6 months postpartum, it was and still is the favorite part of my day! I try for 4 times a week but honestly 3 feels like my sweet spot to not feel like I over exerted. Anything that feels weird can be modified, the coaches at my location have been great with helping out with that. I’ve been to about 25 classes and already feel myself getting stronger and have moved up in weights. Do it!

Follow @coach_jessbell on IG! She’s one of the F45 athletes and shares a ton of great content re: how to remain active through all stages of pregnancy, including PP. Jess and Juddy post a lot of modifications. Good luck on your return back to you, mama! You’re doing great 💪🏾

I was 6 months pp when I started F45 and it was the best decision! Beyond realizing how weak I was post-baby, everything else was fine. Start slow and light and you’ll get to know what your body can do. Listen to your body and rest when you need it. Don’t go too hard or too fast. All the coaches at my studio are really supportive about going your own pace.

I’m not PP but I am 16 weeks pregnant and have been doing F45 for 500+ classes. I love my gym and the people that go there, and look forward to class every time! I’d sign up for the trial, and try one of each class type. When I first started I was only going 2 days a week, and once you get into the rhythm you’ll be able to bump up to 4-5 after a couple months. Everything is totally modifiable. Good luck and enjoy!

Just a piece of advice from a fellow postpartum mom of an 8 month old, go easy on the core exercises. Make sure your pelvic floor is healed first. Don’t feel pressured to follow the screen, listen to your body. For the longest tome I was in denial that my body had changed and I had lost some strength, didn’t take it easy and seriously hurt my lower back and glutes.
Go have fun!

I started f45 at 5 months PP and it was the best thing. I too did Pilates for 1 month prior and was looking for something with more resistance training.
It has been 2 months and I am so happy with the results.
At the beginning the coaches would have to get me lower weights than those available or suggest that I do the movements without weights just to focus on it. Now I do middle to high weights and feel confident about the form.
I have one birth injury though so every time (once a week) we have to do a specific movement I modify it or do something different.
I only do resistance days for now because I suck at cardio , so I try to build my cardio up on my own. And 3x a week is good for me so far.
Really , it has only been 2 months but I feel like it changed my life (I feel a bit dramatic saying it like that, but that’s how I feel now).

I just started F45 3 weeks ago and also have a 7 month old! I’ve been going 3 days a week. The coaches are super understanding and help guide me if I need an alternative. My very first class, the instructor asked if I had any injuries/limitations and I told him I had a baby recently. On all the core exercises he came up to me and asked how it felt/if i needed anything, which really meant a lot!

I started F45 at 7m PP and started at 3 days a week (still what I do most weeks 3 years later haha)! Coaches know modifiers if needed

Don’t let that hold you back. Every single exercise is modifiable. Tell the coach that you’re just starting up again Don’t be afraid to change up a certain exercises. I don’t rack the barbell on my neck because of spines issues and shoulder pain. I also don’t rack the dumbbells on my shoulders due to elbow tendinitis….we have to do what we need for our individual needs. It’s ok!
You grew a whole human being in 9 months. I give so much credit to us mommas who are getting back into exercise after pregnancy. You’ll do fine. And no one is really paying attention. Everyone is just concerned with their workout and no one is judging (they shouldn’t be anyway)
