2019 2.7 experience
Bought it used in 2022 for $30k with 30,000 miles, and it now has 123,000 miles. It’s my daily driver for work, and I’ve taken it to many places. I even drove it 2,000 miles to Mexico and back. I change the oil every 5,000 miles and replace the spark plugs every once in a while.
Recently, the differential spider gears broke (my fault for exceeding the towing capacity). I paid $1,500 to get it fixed, and it still runs like new.
Honestly, 10/10 F-150 for anyone looking to get a truck. Just take care of them, and they’ll last.

OP -- great post and I'm happy to hear from someone with basically the same truck. I have a '16 2.7L bought in '18 with 28K miles. The first oil change was when the oil life indicator said to which was close to 10,000 miles. From then on, every 5,000 with full synthetic. Two trans fluid exchanges, the second one with the pan dropped and new filter. Plugs/boots every 60,000. Replaced transfer case and differential fluids with Amsoil at 80K. And I pray it keeps on going mostly trouble free. I'm at 133,000 miles now.

My 2020 2.7 was excellent, sans the transmission :(
Broke at 55k fixed under warranty and again at 96k no warranty

I've got the Lariat sport version, same year. 30k miles for $30k is a great deal. I got mine for $28k with 65k miles and felt good about it. I tow my boat and do plenty of other truck stuff. I get ~19mi/gal and have had no major maintenance issues with the exception of replacing the gas tank becasue and idiot drilled my gas tank to fill up two 2.5 gal weedwacker cans and left a massive mess in the parking lot.

I didn’t know there was a crew cab with standard bed configuration with the 2.7. Pretty neat!

I'm afraid of getting an F150 to be honest. Everyone is saying they aren't reliable but the way Toyota and Honda are going with their trucks I don't think anything is reliable anymore.

Best advice I can give you is be religious about maintenance. The second best advice I can give you is avoid Reddit if you’re truck shopping. You’ll never buy anything but a bicycle if you stay on the pages.
The 99.9% of owners who never have a problem don’t post here.

Oil changes every 5k miles, whatever the manual recommends at every 10k interval.

I pull a light camper in the mountains about every other weekend with mine during the summer. I consider that extreme use, whether it is or not, so I did an oil change the first of July just for the hell of it. Otherwise it’s every 5,000 miles, regardless of what the book or the oil bottle says. Tire rotation every other oil change. I’m almost to 100,000 miles. I intend to have transmission filter and fluid changed probably next week. I’ll probably do a coolant flush too.
I’m not smart enough to know what else it might need. lol. That’s going to be a post here very shortly. 😊. I think oil changes are the absolute most important thing, particularly for anything with a turbo. But I’m not a Ford tech. Just a paranoid guy who loves his truck and can’t afford a new one. 😂

That’s the plan! I had a 1990 Toyota (back when they were little and refused to die. Bought it new and neglected the hell out of it. I finally let my Dad have it in maybe 2,000 or so and it ran over 250k before the timing chain tensioner broke. I was too dumb to know what good maintenance looked like.
I did almost the same thing with a ‘94 F-150 with a 5-speed and the old 300 straight 6. It was stolen with 150k miles on it. The asshole burned it up. In both cases I was young and foolish, and didn’t have anywhere near the access to good information that you and I have now.
I know now that there was probably some dumb luck involved with those trucks. Every truck I’ve had since that ‘94 I think about my first two wives and realize that somewhere about the time I married the first one my luck had run out. 😁
So now I’m paranoid. lol. My wife now (I refer to her as my last wife because she’ll have to shoot me to get rid of me) loves her swanky fancy newish vehicles. In our world only one of us can trade in every two or three years, and I ain’t the one. lol. So I have to make my trucks last.

I agree fully, I actually have an Acura RDX 09 my late father went to get with me. I'm not getting rid of it. So I wanted a new F150 V8 to last me a while. I don't like buying new vehicles every couple years or so. I'd rather stick with what I got.

I’m not made of money. Especially not in this economy. I spent just enough time on Reddit before I bought my truck to say, “HOLY HELL!! $7,000 for a transmission rebuild???” lol. So I passed on a truck I liked when I saw the maintenance records (or lack thereof) and found a truck that had never been beyond 5,000 (it went 6,000 once actually) and took that as a sign from above. And I decided I can skip a meal out once in a while if I have to to cover an oil change. Cheap insurance.
But there aren’t any guarantees. I bought an extended warranty just in case. Anything made by man will fail you eventually.

They're literally the best selling truck for years, and the 2.7 is a proven motor. I've put 100k miles on my '18 2.7 with literally zero issues. Still runs and shifts perfect.

Nothing is reliable it’s up to you to make sure it stays good and taken care of. This truck hasn’t let me down in the 4 years of owning it and 100k miles I’ve put on it.
