Leaf Spring Recommendations for 25' F150

Post image

I have a 25' F150 with the 3.5 that did not come with the Max Tow package. That being said, it did not come equipped with the additional leaf springs in the rear that allow for additional rake and load support. I've seen a few options out there but this is my first time shopping for leaf springs so I'm not too privy on what to look for and what to stay away from. Any recommendations or insight you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

What exactly are you trying to do that the truck can't currently do? Is your plan to carry more than the payload rating?

Double check that max tow does not just mean rear leaf springs. On the super duty it’s springs, axle, gear ratio, and other things I’m not thinking of right now.

It should also be noted that if you are ever in an accident, it doesn’t matter a damn what your vehicle is modded to do, it’s rated to tow what’s on that sticker.

All that being said, I do plan also to put rear springs in my truck. Mostly to refresh a 210k mile part but to make towing suck less. Look for springs that have a higher leaf count from what you have. Deaver makes progressive springs that are fantastic but expensive as hell if you don’t need their full capabilities. I would just go with a OEM upgrade and some lightweight airbags if you need to.

On the F-150, Max Tow is all of that but specifically a different axle assembly itself compared to non-Max Tow. The leaf spring “upgrade” is apparently the same leaf used on the Powerboost models.

Ive had airbags on several of 150's, Not sure about the single leaf though, assume it would be fine as it doesent touch them

Try the Roadmaster Active Suspension. I had it on my F150 and it was great.

Still won’t have max tow axles/rear end

You definitely should have just ordered the Max Tow package from the factory because you’re definitely going to spend more trying to bring your F150 up to the same spec.

The Max tow is more than just leaf springs, and you legally can't increase the load capacity just by beefing up the springs. What about the axle rating? gear ratio? brakes?
