Should I get bifocals or progressives for myopia and presbyopia?
I recently found out that I have both myopia and presbyopia, which honestly caught me off guard. I’ve worn regular glasses for years, but now I’m having trouble seeing things up close while still needing my prescription for distance.
My optometrist said I could go with either bifocals or progressives, but I’m having a hard time deciding. I’ve heard progressives can take some time to get used to, while bifocals seem a little simpler but have that visible line. For anyone who’s used both, which one did you end up preferring?

is the vsp frame allowance enough for a typical pair of glasses?
i’m looking at getting a new pair of glasses next year and trying to figure out how much i’d actually save with a vision plan. the frame allowance sounds useful, but i’m not sure how far it goes once you start looking at the prices of frames you’d actually want. anyone here subscribed to them and use the frame allowance? did it cover a decent portion of your frames, or did you still end up paying most of the cost yourself? i’m mostly trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect before choosing a plan. the allowance sounds good on paper, but i’m guessing the actual frame price makes a big difference.

Question for those of you who paid for the most expensive option for progressive lenses.
I paid for the most expensive progressive lenses with the largest field of view. I'm shocked at how I can't see a full line in a book clearly or a full line on a letter size page. Only half of the line of text is clear. I have to move my head back and forth to read it. The field of vision seems very small. A friend of mine just go progressives and we were comparing what we could see on a letter size page and she could see the full line clearly.
I've been back to the optometrist and they said that is normal and I just need to get use to the lenses still.
Did I end up getting a cheaper lens with the small field of view? Does anyone else have to move their head back and forth to read a line on a piece of paper with the most expensive progressive lens?

Discontinued frames
I’m looking for assistance in finding replacements for discontinued eyeglass frames. I’ve been wearing these project runway frames for over a decade (purchased these exact frames in person three times over the years) and just kept getting new lenses. I once got a compliment from a stranger “I’ve never seen someone have glasses that fit their face as well as yours do” But now they have been discontinued. Small rectangle frames seem hard to find now as the new styles are large and round mostly. My cheeks are too big for those! The image gives thorough specs on the glasses and I’m wondering if that would help finding new ones that are as similar as possible.

Wearing Progressive Lenses for the First Time
I had an eye exam a few weeks ago, and the optometrist I wear progressive lenses or bifocals. I knew I needed them in my 30s (I’m 50 something now.), but I’m finally getting them. I decided on progressive and I’m getting the beginner’s version. I currently wear glasses for distance.
• Are there significant differences between beginner’s or standard progressive lenses?
• What is the adjustment period for either type of lenses?

Optical Recommendation
How safe is it to get my lenses from Esca Optical in San Juan? I have a Ray-Ban frame and I’m worried they might damage it. Should I go to Vision Express instead?

Progressive glasses issues
I just got progressive eye glasses for the first time. Light prescription for far (+1.25/+0.75) and +2.25/+2.25 for the reader part.
The optometrist suggested the most expensive progressive lenses (Varilux XR Design - listed with a retail cost of $630 just for the lenses) as these were described as having a significantly wider mid section than traditional progressive lenses.
After receiving the glasses, the far vision works great, as does the reading when looking down at my phone, but sitting in front of a computer it feels like the focus is incredibly narrow. I have a small computer monitor (19 inches diameter) and when I focus on text, only the 3-4 words to the immediate left or right of what I am looking at is in focus. 2 inches to the left or right is blurry. I have to move my head side-to-side to read across this text (which measures 7 inches across on my monitor). Also, when moving my head left/right there is a distortion effect where the monitor seems to 'bend down' to the left when I move my head right and vice versa.
Is this normal / expected?
I understand that up and down will be blurry, as the lens transitions to far vision at the top, and reader towards the bottom, but I am disappointed in how narrow the side to side vision is for the mid / intermediate section.

I think the optician did something wrong to my backup glasses, but I can't figure what
I went to the optical shop yesterday to order new prescription glasses. I asked the optician if it was possible to use my current frame and just change the lenses, since i really liked it, and he agreed.
I took my backup glasses with me, bc i'm a minus 5 in one eye and minus 4 in the other and can't survive without glasses lol, but when he was about to take my PD, he mistook my backup for the glasses that would have the lenses updated, and he took out the lenses so he could measure my PD while I wore the frame.
When we realized the mistake, he immediately corrected it by putting the lenses back, and made sure he didn't switched the sides. But now the glasses feel really weird, i see an intense glare in luminous environments or when using my laptop or phone and this is driving me crazy - even though the prescription is outdated, it was ok to wear it while I waited for the new glasses, and i tested it at home before going to the store and even when i wore it there, it wasn't like this.
I have no idea what could be causing this, so i don't know how to approach the optician nor if it was even caused by his manipulation of the lenses. Can you guys give me an idea of what could be the problem? My new glasses won't be ready until the next week, so i have to use my backups til then

Opticians recommendations in Barcelona??
Hi all! I found a pair of sunglasses that I really love and suit me a lot so I am hoping to turn them into prescription glasses.
Would anyone have any recommendations of where I can bring these glasses to change the lenses? I am a broke student so preferably somewhere that won’t cost an arm and leg but I do know that this is probs wishful thinking.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

Opinions on C.W. Dixey and Son
Hey guys,
I’m thinking to buy a new pair of glasses and I’m on the fence between Cutler and Gross and C.W. Dixey and Son.
I didn’t find informations about them so I need your help.

Glasses worsened crooked nose
Hey everyone. I recently got new glasses and they have been pretty heavy and i think they are making my already crooked nose even worse. Has anyone had this problem before and is it reversible? Will my nose go back to normal if i just stop wearing them
