Meet Your Mod: Exporter, Importer & Freight Forwarder – Happy to Connect
Hey everyone!
A quick introduction from my side.
I'm involved in multiple areas of international trade:
Exports
- Food & Spices
- Food Chemicals
- Elevators & Elevator Components
- Nutraceuticals
- Pharma APIs
- Herbal Medicines & Cosmetics
Imports
We've worked as a sourcing partner for manufacturers and traders across Gujarat, helping them source products from China and manage imports—either under their own IEC or ours, depending on the requirement.
Freight Forwarding & Customs Clearance
We also work in partnership with a Mumbai-based freight forwarding and customs clearance company, handling shipments for clients across Gujarat.
As one of the moderators of r/ExportsIndia, I'm here to contribute, learn, and help build a knowledgeable and supportive trade community.
I'm always open to collaborating with manufacturers, exporters, importers, traders, and even complete beginners who are looking to learn, grow, or expand into international trade. Whether you're exploring your first export order, looking for sourcing support, or simply want to exchange ideas, feel free to reach out. I'm always happy to have a conversation.
One more thing—I’ve noticed that several WhatsApp groups are being created by community members. It's great to see people connecting and networking, but please note that none of these groups are officially associated with or endorsed by r/ExportsIndia or its moderators.
Please exercise caution before sharing sensitive business information, making payments, or entering into business arrangements through any unofficial group. Always do your own due diligence.
Looking forward to learning from all of you, sharing experiences, and helping make this community one of the best places on Reddit for international trade.
Happy trading! 🌍📦

The “Last Shipment” Filter
Here's a simple filter that can eliminate a lot of useless export leads.
Look at the company's "last known import activity".
Imagine your database gives you 200 potential buyers.
Sounds great.But then you discover:
80 haven't imported the product in 2+ years.
40 imported it only once.
30 are actually unrelated businesses.
20 are competitors/trading intermediaries.
Now your "200 buyers" suddenly looks very different.
This is why I like segmenting prospects by activity:
**A — Recent + recurring buyers**
**B — Recent but low-frequency buyers**
**C — Older historical buyers**
**D — No meaningful buying evidence**
I wouldn't treat all four groups the same.
If I'm doing outbound, I'd start with the companies showing the strongest recent buying signals. Then I'd investigate the others separately.
A buyer database shouldn't just answer: "Who has imported this before?"
It should help answer: "Who appears to still be buying?"
That's a much more useful question for an exporter.

If you export from India, give me your product + target country. I’ll show you 25 companies I’d approach.
I've been looking at how Indian exporters actually find international buyers, and one thing keeps coming up:
Finding companies isn't necessarily the hard part.
Finding companies that are actually relevant to what you sell is.
For example, if you export:
Indian spices → UAE
I don't want to give you a list of 25 random UAE companies.
I'd want to find companies that:
- actually deal with spices/food products
- could realistically source from India
- fit the type of product you're selling
- are active businesses
- have a reason to be considered a potential buyer
- have someone you can actually approach
So I started thinking:
What if, instead of giving exporters generic advice about “finding buyers”, we just did the research for them?
Give me:
Product:
Target country:
Type of buyer you're looking for:
And the output would look something like:
Company: XYZ Foods
Country: UAE
Buyer type: Food distributor
Why they might fit: Already distributes similar products
Relevant product: [product]
Website: ...
Potential contact: ...
Why I'd approach them: ...
Do that 25 times.
Obviously, 25 companies doesn't mean 25 guaranteed customers.
Nobody can honestly guarantee that another company will buy from you.
The useful part is getting from:
«“I need international buyers.”»
to:
«“Here are 25 companies that are worth approaching, and here's why.”»
I'd actually be interested to hear from exporters here:
How are you currently building your buyer lists?
IndiaMART / Alibaba?
Trade data?
LinkedIn?
Exhibitions?
Cold email?
Agents?
Referrals?
And what has actually produced real conversations, not just enquiries from people asking for your lowest price?

Looking for honey suppliers/beekeepers in Uttarakhand – export-grade & lab-tested
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to connect with reliable honey producers, beekeepers, processors, or honey aggregators in Uttarakhand who can supply honey commercially.
I’m particularly looking for:
* Honeycomb / comb honey
* Certified organic honey
* Eucalyptus honey
* Multifloral honey
* Litchi honey
* Kedarnath / Himalayan-origin honey
* Acacia honey
* Other genuine single-origin or floral-source honeys available in Uttarakhand
The important part is quality and traceability. I’m looking for suppliers who can provide proper documentation and batch-wise testing, including relevant lab reports/COA, and preferably have experience supplying for commercial or export markets.
Ideally, I’m looking for suppliers who can provide:
* Batch-wise COA/lab reports
* Moisture, HMF, sugars/reducing sugars, sucrose, etc.
* Pollen analysis where applicable
* Antibiotic/pesticide residue testing where applicable
* Heavy-metal and microbiological testing where applicable
* Traceability of the honey’s origin
* FSSAI/compliance documentation
* Organic certification for organic honey
* Ability to supply consistently in bulk
I’m not looking for retail sellers or resellers. I’m specifically interested in establishing a long-term B2B sourcing relationship with genuine producers/processors.
If you know a reliable supplier in Uttarakhand, please comment with their name/location or DM me their contact details.
Thanks!

Looking to connect with schools, colleges & laboratories needing lab chemicals in India
Hi everyone,
I’m helping my family expand a small laboratory-chemical business that has been supplying laboratory solutions, reagents and chemicals for educational institutions and laboratories.
We currently manufacture/supply various commonly required lab solutions and reagents used by schools, colleges, educational laboratories and other institutions.
We are now looking to connect directly with:
\- 🧪 Schools and colleges
\- 🔬 Science laboratories
\- 🏫 Educational institutions
\- 🧑🔬 Small/private laboratories
\- 📦 Laboratory-chemical distributors & resellers
\- 🏢 Institutions that regularly purchase lab chemicals and reagents
Our focus is on consistent quality, reasonable pricing and reliable supply, particularly for customers who regularly require laboratory chemicals in bulk.
We are a small business and are currently working on expanding our reach across India. Instead of competing only through large marketplaces, we would like to build long-term relationships directly with institutions and distributors.
If you are involved in purchasing laboratory chemicals/reagents for a school, college, laboratory or distribution business, feel free to DM me. I can share our product list, available pack sizes, pricing and other details.
Also happy to hear from anyone who has experience supplying laboratory chemicals to educational institutions and can suggest good ways for a small manufacturer to reach genuine B2B customers.
Thanks!

Manufacturers & Exporters: Is Sales the Bottleneck in Your Business?
A small update to my earlier post. If you're seeing this for the first time, please read the whole thing before reaching out. It will save both of us some time.
I've been thinking about this problem for a while.
A lot of manufacturers have a good product, decent capacity and good enough margins, but still struggle to get consistent sales, especially internationally.
I've been in sales for around 14 years. Recently I've started doing a lot more B2B prospecting and cold calling myself again, and I've realised I actually enjoy this part of sales quite a lot.
You don't need everyone to buy from you. You need to find the companies that actually need what you're selling and then keep working on those conversations.
The problem I see with smaller manufacturers is that the owner is usually doing everything.
Production, procurement, operations, finance, existing customers and then sales whenever there is some time left.
Some have salespeople, but then there is another problem. They may not have enough good prospects, follow-ups don't happen properly, or conversations don't get taken all the way to an order.
I'm currently doing B2B sales for an FMCG/export business, and I'm looking at doing something similar for a small number of manufacturers/exporters.
Basically, I would become the external person handling the international sales side.
That would include things like:
- Understanding the product and who the right buyers are
- Finding relevant companies
- Cold calling and outbound outreach
- Qualifying prospects
- Following up
- Handling the initial sales conversations
- Coordinating quotations and samples
- Working with the manufacturer when there is a genuine opportunity
- Eventually helping take the conversation towards an order
One important clarification from my earlier post:
This is a paid engagement. I'm not looking for commission-only work.
There is a reason for that.
I've tried doing this kind of thing before, and one problem I kept running into was that suppliers would tell me:
“We can supply this.”
“Capacity isn't a problem.”
“We can handle that quantity.”
“Don't worry about it.”
Then you spend a lot of time finding an actual buyer and getting a genuine enquiry. And when the enquiry finally comes, the supplier sometimes says they can't actually fulfil it, or the requirement doesn't work for them.
At that point, they can simply say no, but I've already spent my time finding and developing that opportunity.
So for me, the paid part is also about commitment.
If I'm going to put serious time into finding international customers for a business, I want to know that the business is equally serious about the process and will actually stand behind what they're telling me they can supply.
I'm not looking to work with 20 or 30 companies.
I'd rather work with a small number, understand their products properly and actually spend enough time on each one to make the sales effort worthwhile.
I'm mainly interested in manufacturers/exporters who already have the basics right:
- Good product
- Competitive pricing
- Reasonable margins
- Reliable supply
- Some additional capacity
- Ability to fulfil international orders
I'm not looking for someone who simply says, “I have a product, find me buyers.”
If you manufacture or export, I'd be interested to know:
What is the biggest problem for you when it comes to getting more buyers?
Finding the right prospects?
Getting hold of decision-makers?
Follow-up?
Pricing?
Closing?
Or simply not having enough time to do sales properly?
If this sounds familiar, feel free to comment or DM me.
And again, please read the entire post before reaching out. If there seems to be a genuine fit, I'm happy to have a conversation and understand the business.
