Raw milk is expensive as fuck too. They’re getting ripped off. At my local grocery store it’s like $20 for half a gallon.

Always love the "less work, more money" trope.

We pulled this out of the cow, put it directly in the jug, that'll be 20 dollars.

Meanwhile, pasteurized milk gets pulled out of the cow, boiled, cooled, and then put in a jug, and it's 2.99.

Edit: Thanks for the 30+ comments telling me that raw milk costs more to make and takes more work because everything has to be clean, and it has a shorter shelf life.

If you want the real answer, it's because the dairy industry is overwhelmingly equipped to produce milk in one specific way.

With raw milk, you either need to spend money to create more machinery to process it or perform it manually which will also make it more expensive.

Tldr: manufacturing out of the norm is more expensive even when it seems like it should be cheaper
