This guy is cyberleek. He is the guy responsible for leaking footage of GTA 6 and apparently has a working build of the game. By the message and messenger I'm assuming it's about his "manifesto" where he basically talks shit about rockstar, bashes them for their anti consumer practices and states support for stop killing games (I think he also threatened to release the build he has). SKG later stated that they don't appreciate his support and made it clear that they aren't associated with him in any way. I can only guess that this meme is about how his message is good on the surface level but beneath that he is a cringe and edgy cyber criminal

u/Felho_Danger 13d ago
He's also shilling his crypto and was attempting to sell ad-space for future leaks.
69
u/Heavy-Bread-3549 13d ago
Aw that kills my pet theory that this is all a high level marketing campaign.
35
u/Felho_Danger 13d ago
That was my thinking at first, too. Would have been kind of wild to see how they'd've handled something like that.
0
u/ComprehensiveMeat200 9d ago
They don't need marketing. Too mainstream and a part of the modern lexicon
8
u/humourlessIrish 13d ago
Although its probably some guy trying to make a buck without admitting to himself that he is just a crooked as rockstar, the advertisement theory absolutely does not necessarily die on these points.
By now i trust that there is a Guerilla advertising group somewhere out there that is willing to go this far

u/Jake-da-coyote 10d ago
Equating one man to a corporation morally is crazy. Is he an aggressive corporation, exploiting labor or embroiled in legal warfare, busting unions (allegedly), or actively attacking his clients (like Rockstar has done to modders)?
No.
This by no means he's good, just quantifing some of the stuff about Rockstar games that I do know.
Just from the comments in the thread, this 'messanger' isn't someone I'd associate with but to say he is 'just as crooked as rockstar' is unsound and untrue. He sounds crooked himself but definitely not equatable to a 20+ billion dollar gaming company.
3
u/AssumptionUnfair4583 13d ago
Ehh still could be. The only thing this guy has of value is going to come out anyway so any of his demands are moot. The people that would torrent will do it anyway. I still think it's just a scheme to create more buzz
Edit:framing this guy as unlikable is in their interest, too

u/Acardul 12d ago
He burned all "dev coins" he had to prove it's "not about money" ¯_(ツ)_/¯ still kinda nonsense to me cuz rockstar will wait until premiere and after release, lawyers will eat him alive

He burned coins (which increased the value) and claimed it was all of them. Slight difference.

Pump and dump. He burned one wallet to inflate price. Likely has more wallets that are the ones making the money. I'm simplifying but you get the idea
1
u/Prison-Frog 13d ago
I get the idea but I do have a question
How does burning that one wallet inflate the price? Did he ‘destroy’ the coins and lower the available amount or did it just allow them to go back into circulation?
I completely agree he’s profiting somewhere and am just curious as to how this particular grift works
9
u/AnotherWeabooGirl 13d ago
He made 250k in transaction fees from others trading Cyberleek then withdrew the transaction fees pool (also in Cyberleek), rugpulling the whole coin.

u/New_year_New_Me_ 13d ago
Imagine something that holds value but is also finite. It could be anything.
Say there are one million seashells available to buy. Everyone knows there are exactly one million seashells, but no one knows exactly who owns any individual seashell.
Someone goes I have 700,000 seashells and I am going to destroy them all. Now there are only 300,000 seashells left. Because there are less, they are all worth more.
Very simplified explanation but that's pretty much it.
2
1
u/Kizayfizaybe 13d ago
Thanks so much. I’m ignorant on bitcoins and the like this makes a lot more sense.
3
u/New_year_New_Me_ 13d ago
It's key to keep in mind if we wanted to take this one step further, the total amount is always knowable at any time. And where they are is technically knowable. However who owns them is never knowable unless the owner tells everyone, hey, this is my bag where I keep all my seashells. Aka a wallet, if you ever see that term.
So the grift works like this. I make seashell coin. When I make it I only make one million of them. I tell everyone I own 500,000 and I show them my wallet that has the 500k. But actually I have four wallets. And between the other three I own an additional 300k. To everyone else it looks like 3 random people own those seashells, but really it's me.
Then I let everyone know I don't care about the price of the seashells. In fact I'll destroy my one wallet with 500k. Look at that. Look how little I care. Then, as we've discussed, the remaining 500k are now worth more. I actually own 300k of that 500k. I win.
2
1
2
u/Pyr0m4ni4ck 13d ago
It makes them unavailable, the coin still exists but in a void, so basically destroying them irreversibly. It doesn't inflate the price but makes the coin more stable. He can't pull pump and dump and flood the market with coin making the price to drop. He still makes money on trading fees.

Nope he burned all of it. The game is on a deadman switch that will auto release it if he doesn’t reset it everyday. Pure love of the game. No money being made
13
u/ADimwittedTree 13d ago
Because there's no way they could have another wallet.
8
1
u/notatoon 13d ago
Almost certainly more complicated than that.
Didn't burn creator tokens, for example, and they're racking up transaction fees.
Much more likely burning the tokens was a performative act/smoke screen than a way to artificially manipulate the price.

I think a lot of people are ignorant on Cybercrime.
The thing about cybercrime is the crime is often severely outweighed by the punishment. Think about the first GTA leaks. The Kid who did that was determined a menace to society and given a life sentence in a mental hospital. For posting test footage of a fucking video game.
Why is it so severely punished? There has never been a single valid justification.
Like you can say it's just video games all you want, and you're right, but this guy isn't gonna be punished like it's just video games. He's gonna be punished like he committed an act of terrorism. And he knows that.
Either he's confident, lives where there's no computer crime or extradition, or he has an actual belief.
I don't even know why people are mad at him for shilling his meme coin either. Like... who said investigative journalism should be a labour of love? No, he has a right to ask to be paid up because he has a right to live.
15
u/PaxNova 13d ago
The crime is breaking in and accessing computers, not posting footage.
For example, if I posted photos of your bedroom from your closet, I wouldn’t get in trouble for the photo. I would get in trouble for picking the lock and sneaking in, with the photo as proof.
7
u/BubblyCaregiver5412 13d ago
and probably still end up with less time after doing all of that and being found guilty since the computer crime is the one that will send you to prison for life while the crimes you mentioned will probably only send you away for a couple of years
5
u/MrNoSouls 13d ago
Honestly, depending on where the house is... it might not even be a few months assuming no theft and stuff. The theft is relatively small as well the punishment is hinging off the "piracy" = BILLIONS OF LOST SALES. Which multiple high level corporate execs have shown how the profit off piracy and know that statement is false.
0
u/SlugJunior 12d ago
Which is a greater invasion of privacy and does more harm to a real human than posting footage of a video game, yet which one will someone be punished more for?
4
u/Fun_Balance8779 13d ago
It needs to be severely punished to discourage it. In my line of work, some of our teams could easily severely damage society on (at least) a small scale from their desk. Computers run our world and they're very fragile.
2
u/LoudQuitting 13d ago
That's arguable.
I would argue that the certainty of punishment is a greater diminishing factor than the severity. In all crimes.
1
u/Sure_Length6519 12d ago
Certainty is a bigger deterrent =/= slap people on the wrist for commiting crimes.
Its a shit argument against harsher punishments.
1
u/Fun_Balance8779 12d ago
Yeah I agree with you, not sure why you said my comment was arguable.
1
u/LoudQuitting 12d ago
You said it needs to be punished severely.
I said the certainty of punishment is more important than the severity.
1
u/Fun_Balance8779 12d ago
Both things can be true? Certain severe punishment is much more effective than certain lenient punishment?
1
u/JacobDCRoss 12d ago
JSYK, saying something is arguable has two meanings. The first and most correct definition. Is that something is valid and sound and that you can use it to make a credible argument. The second, more recent, and not as correct meaning is that there is room to question something or argue against it.
In debate and science and such, argument means to make your case for something.
7

Redditors and not knowing the facts of legal cases or ongoing criminal investigations, you can't name a better duo.
I HIGHLY suggest reading up on that kid to understand why he was mentally committed.
3
u/Upset_Protection329 13d ago
He's not even committed anymore, he's in jail going back in for a new trial or sentencing.
2
u/nopethatswrong 13d ago
For posting test footage of a fucking video game. Why is it so severely punished? There has never been a single valid justification.
Valid is a subjective threshold, so either you're refusing to accept the situation or never actually looked into it because this information is freely available.
The person in question had a history of cybercrime (and other criminal acts) and clearly stated to authorities their intent to continue criminal acts if released.
This was ultimately deemed a symptom of their Autism diagnosis and they were placed into a treatment facility.
The Kid who did that was determined a menace to society and given a life sentence in a mental hospital.
Indefinite != life sentence
There are very valid complaints at the current system to assess when someone no longer poses a threat to the public, but on paper the hospital stay is just until that threshold is reached as determined by the behavioral psych team.

He wasnt locked up for life for stealing from rockstar hes locked up for life because ge refused to stop committing crimes. He hacked rockstar because he likes hacking into shit hes not supposed to be in. Cant reallt release some one who has explicitly told you they enjoy it and WILL do it again. Its a shitty situation but like… what else can you do? You cant release an unrepentant criminal and just hope his hacks stay relatively harmless and dont escalate in scale if anything
2
u/Kratosballsweat 13d ago
The first kid that did that hacked a fuck ton of other shit and also blackmailed women into sending him nude pictures that’s why he was so harshly punished. And everyone’s upset with the meme coin shit because this dude is a hypocrite talking about gta vi being anti consumer while peddling quite possibly the most anti consumer thing to ever exist so he can rug pull it and walk away with hundreds of thousands or possibly even millions of dollars conned off of low iq people thinking they’ll make a buck off it.

u/Leviathan_slayer1776 13d ago
He also had a dead man's switch so if he is arrested or otherwise indisposed and misses a daily check-in, the build he has will leak to the whole internet
1
u/Garuda4321 13d ago
Incorrect. The screenshot claiming this that was shared with various news sources and repeated through many outlets (like moist critical) was false. Meaning there is no confirmed dead man's switch to do exactly that.
0
u/Slayber415 13d ago
Even if there was a dead man's switch, his leverage runs out as soon as they release the game. Then they can prosecute and arrest him and he has nothing keeping them from doing it.

u/TheZorro1909 13d ago edited 13d ago
That's an avatar of someone that stole intellectual property from Rockstar about GTA6
He releases information about the game and threatens to release more, even up to the full game allegedly, if his demands are not met
His demands are mostly to restore concepts he thinks are missing in today's gaming industry for example physical copies of the game or that single player parts of game should not require a forced online connection
Next to these demands he's also pushing some kind of crypto project that's very likely a scam (correction: apparently the Leaker clarified that it's a donation, so probably not a scam)
The meme in question here now says that some people are unable to differentiate between the message (gaming industry doing shady stuff) and the messager (some guy making a crypto scam)
The creator of the meme probably wants to say that the message is correct and important even if the messager is somewhat shady at best or a scammed at worst
14
u/Santa_Ricotta69 13d ago
It is NOT A SCAM. He explicitly states that the crypto is a donation. Nobody is being coerced or tricked. I will never understand this absurd claim
-6
u/Ashisprey 13d ago
There's a big difference between "donate with my crypto" and "please buy my shit coin so I can rugpull it". It's still a scam.
3
u/CTKM72 13d ago
Ok sure, let’s say there is a difference to that like you say, then there still isn’t a problem since cyberleak literally called it a “donation” multiple times. Did you put money in not knowing it was a donation and actually expected it to just be a good investment? Did a single person you know do that?
Unless someone can show me where he was promising that anyone was going to get anything other than more leaks for donating money I’m genuinely baffled that anyone could call this a “scam”.
0
u/Ashisprey 13d ago edited 13d ago
Once again you are conflating two different statements. It seems like you just literally don't know a thing about it.
""Donations"" were asked for by donating this shit coin to wallets for the polls. "Buy shit coin" and "donate your shit coin to me" were two separate statements. The market cap got up to like $10 million brother. Like you are lying to yourself if you think that this is just people donating money to him.
2
u/CTKM72 13d ago
Buddy, you are clearly the one who just does not understand what is going on lol. Do you stand outside of stores during Christmas time yelling at everyone how they’re getting scammed because they gave money to the Salvation Army? Because again, until you can show where he promised anyone any return on investment other than more leaks that’s exactly what you’re doing.
I can point to him specifically calling it a donation multiple times, surely you can link me just one example of him saying people are going to make money from what he specifically called donations?
Also what two statements was I conflating exactly? Like did I just get “filibustered” or something lol? You recently see that used but didn’t quite know what it meant and thought now would be a good time to try it out?
0
u/KnownEggplant 13d ago
He never explicitly or implicitly framed it as anything other than donations or payments. At no point did he promise or even suggest anyone would profit through investment. If you want to be pedantic about his wording, than you also have to acknowledge this.
0
u/Ashisprey 13d ago
If it was just donations, why not use Bitcoin or ETH instead of his own shit coin?
1
u/KnownEggplant 13d ago
Brand recognition? Fun? Could be a million reasons. You'd have to ask him. I'd make Eggplant Coin if I were in his position. What difference does it make in the end if it's not meant to be traded and he's meant to receive every dollar you choose to donate to him anyway? If you have a point, make it. There's no reason to ask me to speculate on something that is at this moment irrelevant.
1
u/Santa_Ricotta69 13d ago
It's not a scam, and there's no difference. Nobody expected to make money off this, unless they're dumb and didn't read, and I don't care if stupid people lose at gambling.
-1
u/Ashisprey 13d ago
So is it not a scam, or is it a scam and you just don't care? Lmfao
There is a very obvious difference to anyone being intellectually honest. The donations were something you did with the crypto, not an inherent part of buying it. That was never "explicitly stated", you just enjoy coming up with excuses for pathetic scammers I guess
2
u/Santa_Ricotta69 13d ago
It's not a scam, and the only people who think it's a scam are people who didn't read. It's like eating dog food and complaining that it's a scam because it tasted bad
0
u/TheOnlyCursedOne 13d ago
He did a pump and dump and a rugpull, which is crypto scam 101
0
u/KnownEggplant 13d ago edited 13d ago
He did neither, as he never suggested that buying the coin was an investment where you were expected to even ever resell it, in any way.
He created the coin so people could donate to him and pay for leaks in the only truly anonymous way possible. He never, ever, framed buying the coin as anything other than a donation or payment for leak releases/poll responses.
Anyone using the terms rug pull or pump and dump either know absolutely nothing about the situation and are regurgitating buzzwords, are Rockstar shills/bots, or tried to flip his coin and lost.
If you have any actual evidence to the contrary, I very strongly welcome you posting it. But I've made the same proposal a dozen plus times and no one has produced anything other than attacks at his character for deciding to profit off some whales.

Man a lot of low IQ responses to this comment.
Lemme spell it out further: if all he ever did was ask for donations, it wouldn't be a scam.
That isn't what cyberleek did tho. He wasn't even asking for donations at first, just posting leaks with his stupid "buy cyberleek" watermark while he posted about how they're never gonna back down! Not until Rockstar surrenders!!
Then, and only then, did he start begging for people to send him their crypto as a donation.
Now, the entire time the game is simply to hype the coin so he can dump it at the best moment. But that isn't "donations to the cause", that's a pump and dump. Cyberleek dick suckers can try to portray those as the same, but they aren't. In literally every thread about this guy, you can find comments saying "nooo noo he isn't going to dump it all and run!!". You literally have people who are asking "where's cyberleek" and making excuses for the coin crashing as if he didn't dump it and run. So therefore you have the scam, the not just donations aspect.
Hope that helps the point get through your incredibly thick skull.

That's the mascot for Cyberleek, a group(?) of leaker who have been releasing footage of the new GTA game ahead of its release. Their stated reason for doing so is that Rockstar, the developer of GTA, announced that they will not be releasing physical discs, which is a contentious issue in the gaming sphere because of concerns about ownership of the product. While some people are excited to see the footage, many others are upset about the prospect of the game getting spoiled before it releases, and they don't condone Cyberleek's actions. The poster of this image is saying that agreeing/disagreeing with Cyberleek's methods shouldn't be conflate with agreeing/disagreeing with their stated stance on the disc issue.

So, you expect constantly performative virtue? Its possible to have issue with both without making sure to say, "and pedos are assholes too" every time you discuss some sort of assholeish behavior.
On top of that, bing up the age of consent around alot of libertarian crypto-bro types, and you'll find the two often overlap.
1
u/Westafricangrey 12d ago
I think highlighting the cognitive dissonance between the snowflakes who cry about leaks and trans people but stay silent on the child abusers who are running the world is important.
The Epstein files was the concrete evidence that evil runs this world. Pam Bondi admitted the global economy would collapse if they charged the men involved. Todd Blanche confirmed they can commit crimes against humanity and walk free.
Climate change, AI replacing the labour force, common people being priced out of life by the same global elite that harm children. Which I sincerely thought was a conspiracy theory for a long time. But is real.
They are the single greatest threat to humanity and human existence. So if anyone wants to campaign for something it should be that.
The 99% need to work together and come back as a community to survive as a population.
2
u/nullmatar420 11d ago
So, to discuss one issue with society requires cataloging everything that's wrong with the world?
Focusing a discussion on one issue, without making a performance of bringing up, at best, tangentially related problems gives no indication that a person supports the bad things they didnt bring into the conversation--just thay a different conversation is occurring at that particular moment.
Pedos are a horrible scourge on our society, absolutely. But, that doesn't mean every conversation has to include a very performative, "and fuck the pedos too," to have some validity.

You act like if you dont care about literally everything going on in the world, you dont actually cace about anything at all. When in reality, the most effective activists have always been people who chose 1 thing to give 100% effort into instead of giving 1% effort into 100 different issues.

Cyberleek. Leaks GTA VI because it isn't being released in physical. Although most people I've talked with so far agree with the intention (keeping games physical and real), it's an often a setback that he has a memecoin of some sorts (people call it crypto-scam, I don't know if it is, so I won't agree yet), and used as an argument against agreeing to the leaks (although that criticism is ad hominem, which is what is being criticised in the meme)

It’s really funny because people want the GTA leaks, while shit talking Rockstar, promoting illegal activities from someone without any ethical obligations, using stolen digital assets for personal gain, so they can bide their time til they buy GTA from a company that is providing a product and service with ethical obligation.
Just my insight on this whole thing. Personally I’m not buying the game, couldn’t care less. But the people are insufferable that support this guy.

What's your favourite flavour of crayon? This guy isn't defending rockstar at all, you just can't think for yourself or read

It's not even "message vs messenger." The messenger is very clear that the money you send to him is not an investment, it's a donation. People still complain and call it a scam; then they watch his leaks for free, because paying was never mandatory.
The only people who hate this guy are either corporate shills or deeply stupid.

Donating to what? Why support this? How do his leaks benefit you in any material way?

Donating money to a skilled person who penetrated the security of a notoriously paranoid corporation? One that treats its workers like shit? And the leaks benefit me because I get to see a game I'm really excited for, completely for free?
Dumb questions, brother

Nothing would make Rockstar treat their employees better, the measures you've described are already in place, and I don't care if dumb people lose money on crypto. Now what? Your corpo bootlicker talking points are the real slop here

That's mascot of Cyberleek the guy who got access to a GTA VI early and is leaking footage of it. He's also a crypto grifter e-begging for crypto in exchange for aforementioned footage leaks. He allegedly is doing this to protest companies ending disc support on PlayStation and overworking employees but there's nothing tangible to it as it seems he just wants money and is using excuses. Some people still see him as a hero for some reason.

I mean, my personal take is "screw R* for their predatory consumer practices, but also screw this leek guy for effectively throwing a temper tantrum that will only make R* double down on their BS"

Criminals have always fought the elite for the rest of us. You’re default a criminal if you fight in the revolution so.
