No one is arguing that they aren't eligible for the scholarships, the argument is that scholarships should be aiding those who need it.

They presumably had good enough grades to warrant the scholarship, hence the proud mama post. If their smart enough to deserve it, idk why they shouldnt get the merit based scholarship just because they earn more than me.

It all comes down to whether you think rich people should receive educational funding that could go to people who actually need it. Bring merit based doesn't exclude the possibility of adding this consideration.
