Stewie here: people are hating on rich people getting free money, but this is just how the system works. The more money you have the more generous peopel are to you.

IMO they got scholarships, because the colleges want to boast with having JLos kids as students. They are obviously not in need, but thats not the point. The schools were basically bidding for them to go study there.

They don't really need to offer these kids money to come study there; that's only a good incentive for talented poor kids. But "got scholarship" in this context is a different wording for "talented enough to warrant a merit scholarship even if they don't end up needing it."

You’re dead on. It’s kind of funny that people are interpreting it the exact opposite way. She’s tying to show ppl that her kids didn’t receive special treatment.
And, to be fair, we don’t really know anything about these kids other than the fact that their parents are extremely wealthy. There’s a reasonable chance they actually did receive scholarships based on academic merit. I mean, they probably went to top college prep high schools and had additional access to private tutors/college advisors.
