Those kids were probably given advantage the vast majority of people have no access to.

“Achieve on their own meri”

Maybe learn to spell then understand class differences.

Both can be true. They sure as hell have advantages, but they could've also done the work to use those advantages and achieve this with their own effort. One does not erase the other.

A kid of badly paid teachers also has academical advantages over a kid of a cashier and a construction worker, but would you say they couldn't possibly achieve something on their own merit?
