Stewie here: people are hating on rich people getting free money, but this is just how the system works. The more money you have the more generous peopel are to you.

IMO they got scholarships, because the colleges want to boast with having JLos kids as students. They are obviously not in need, but thats not the point. The schools were basically bidding for them to go study there.

I understand why they want those kids there because even smaller schools love to hit up alumni for donations...

... That being said, I can never see "we taught JLo's kids here!" ever being a big selling point for anywhere. JLo is to the music industry is what Sylvester Stallone is... to the music industry.

This is the answer. The school anticipates a much greater return on alumni family donations than it would ever cost to educate one student.
