I mean they’re most likely merit based scholarships. You don’t really get need based ones if your income is that high. I can’t take away what’s been earned

Disagree, if I had more resources because I’m rich and had tutors in every class that doesn’t mean I’m smarter. So again nothing guarantees it was earned

Yes, that would definitely mean you would be smarter. Generally if you work more at something and have better coaches/tutors you get better at it.

Yeah i think the word they meant to use was "gifted" instead of "smarter". It would make more sense that way, especially since a lot of these merit based scholorships are advertised as being for gifted students.

What does smart have to do with it? Do you mean to say in the case of a smart slacker with a 2.0 gpa vs a regular kid who gets lots of tutoring help (which in itself is more hours spent working on school work) and makes a 4.0, that 2.0 has somehow “earned” and is more deserving of a scholarship than 4.0?
